All right, when we first saw the Brawl E3 2006 Trailer we were stoked. We were even more stoked when we saw newcomer, "Meta Knight". A lot of people were expecting him and, the character which was revealed next, Pit, to make it to Brawl. Wario was also an expected character. Now, when we saw Samus un-leash her FS we thought "cool". But, when she popped out of her suit, most of us were in awe. Then, at the end of the trailer we saw Snake reveal himself...
Can anyone here honestly say that they expected Snake and ZSS to be in the next Smash if they had zero knowledge of the trailer? I think not.
Sure we have our obvious newcomers in Pit, Keta Knight, Wario, Ike, Diddy, Lucas, Sonic and King Dedede, but then we have PT, Snake and ZSS. Again, who expected Squirtle in Brawl, let alone him being partnered with Ivysaur and Charizard?
Even some WTF character were in Melee. The Ice CLimbers, Roy, Marth, Mr.Game&Watch, Y.Link, Pichu and Dr.Mario would've never been expected. Heck, who would have ever thought that Fox, C.Falcon, Jigglypuff or Ness to ever be in a fighting game?
My point is that the final roster will have some characters no one might expect. We might get a Mii, third party character Viewtiful Joe, Bidoof from Pokemon, or Ivan from Golden Sun. Now I know that they are un-likely additions, and by no means do I necessarily support those characters. However, we should expect anyone, and anything to make it into Brawl because Masahiro Skaurai and his team have quite the imagination!
