At first I was pissed cause Sakurai pulled another "Hey, doesn't it SUCK that you can't play as him? Don't it? Hahaha," shtick, but then I realized he'd just be kinda...boring. Lame, if you will.

I believe the fact that he's in Brawl at all is an honor. As I feel sorry for those who really wanted him as a character, he didn't deserve the spot on many levels. He was used as a filler character in sports games just so that Luigi would have his counter. Waluigi has been in no significant game other than sports and doesn't warrant a character spot. Sakurai has been nice by acknowledging him with an Assist Trophy. I feel this is the best option.

If he was playable, what? A Luigified Luigi? No, seriously...

Glad he is not playable honestly. I never liked Waluigi, he is a filler character and was hardly even deserving of AT. How dare he degrade characters like Samurai Goroh and Lyn by making his appearance on the same level as them.

Technically he was never 'downgraded' or 'degraded'. That implies that he was something greater than an Assist Trophy at one point, which he wasn't.

Waluigi is nothing more than an Assist Trophy, and that is a good thing.
