Super Smash Bros Melee Rules
GENERAL RULES

• 4 Stock
• 8 minutes.
• Items are turned to off and none.
• If time runs out, the winner is determined by stock, and then by percentage.
• If both stock and percentage are identical, or a game ends with both players being KO'd simultaneously, then a tiebreaker is played. A tiebreakers is a 1 stock, 3 minute match with the same characters and the same stage.
• All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for any "finals" matches).
• Double Elimination
• All people are responsible for their own control scheme/name tag and must make sure it is set before the match begins. Both players must agree to restart a match on account of a controller problem.
• Stalling is banned. (Stalling is defined as any action that deliberately avoids all conflict as to make the game unplayable. Running from an opponent to get to a better position is not considered stalling.)
• Extending an infinite lock/combo/chain above 300% is considered stalling.

DOUBLES PLAY
• Team attack is on.
• Sharing stocks is allowed.
• If the clock expires and the total number of stocks of each team is equal, use the sum of the final percentage of players on each team as the tiebreaker; whichever team has a lower sum wins. (A player who has been eliminated has 0 stocks and 0%).
• Causing both characters of a team to become frozen (i.e. by interrupting a throw with a wind attack) is to be treated the same way as freezing the opponent in singles. Leaving only one of the opponents' characters frozen is legal since the teammate can work to undo the freeze.

4 PLAYER FREE FOR ALL
•3 Stock. 8 Minute timer
• Random stage from starter stages
• Top 2 go through to the next round, single elimination
• Teaming up or extensive ganging up on people is banned. You are welcome to pick on whoever you like for as long as you like as long as you are the only one doing so for an extended period.
• Stalling/Camping in an unreachable spot or constantly going below stage to avoid combat can get you disqualified.

OTHER RULES
•Games will be played in 60hz ONLY.
•Controller mods of ANY kind (short-hop mod, L-trigger mod, etc), except for cosmetic changes (paint job, different colored plastic), are banned. If you are caught using a banned controller you will be disqualified from the tournament.
•Glitches used to stop your opponent from controlling their character or indefinitely freezing them (Mewtwo's Soul Stunner, the Ice Climber freeze glitch, etc.), or any glitch or trick that freezes the match or makes it in any way unfinishable are banned. Using them will result in the immediate forfeit of the match.
•Tactics such as Peach's Wallbombing and Jiggly's Rising Pound are allowed as methods of recovery or to maneuver around the stage. Using them (or any similar tactics) to excessively stall a match, such as dropping below levels intentionally and stalling underneath, is banned. If this is problem occurrs, find me or another admin (be prepared to have proof/witnesses).
•Restart Rule - When a match starts and a player does not want to play the randomly selected stage he/she has 5 seconds to pause and quit the match so long as no lives were lost and no damage was given. Each player gets 1 per set (only applies to the first match of a set)
•In the case of a console/TV malfunction, the game will be restarted from the beginning, no matter what time it crashed.
•Master Hand is banned.

Stages
Starter Stages
-Final Destination
-Pokemon Stadium
-Kirby Dream Land N64
-Kirby Fountain of Dreams
-Yoshi's Story
-Battlefeild

Banned Stages:
Flat Zone, Big Blue, Hyrule Temple, Great Bay, Kongo Jungle, Yoshi 64, Fourside, Corneria,
Icicle Mountain, Princess Peach's Castle, Venom, Brinstar, Onett, Mute City, Pokè Floats, Kongo Jungle 64, Mushroom Kingdom I & II.

Mute City and Fountain of Dreams is banned in Teams, because those stages may cause lag when four players play the stage on the same time.

Super Smash Bros (Nintendo 64) Rules
General Rules

• Games will be played on Wii Virtual Console unless both players/teams/majority of ffa want to play on N64
• 4 Stock
• Items off
• Handicaps off
• All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for any "finals" matches).
• Double Elimination
• Stalling is banned. (Stalling is defined as any action that deliberately avoids all conflict as to make the game unplayable. Running from an opponent to get to a better position is not considered stalling.)
• Extending an infinite lock/combo/chain above 300% is considered stalling.
• Any action that prevents the game from continuing results in a forfeiture of the match for the offender.
• Some interactions (for example, interrupting a throw with a wind attack) can cause one character to become frozen until being hit. If this happens, the free character is expected to capitalize on this in a timely manner; a failure to do so is considered stalling.

SET FORMAT
1. Both players choose their characters (as well as their sub-character and costume) for the first game. A double-blind pick may be requested by either player.
2. Players start the stage-striking procedure in order to select the first stage. The optimal procedure for striking stages is 1-2-2-1 assuming "1" is player 1 and "2" is player 2.
3. The first game is played using the stage chosen by step 2.
4. The loser of the previous game chooses a stage from the starter or counterpick list. No player may choose a stage they have already won on unless the other player agrees.
5. The winner of the previous game chooses their character.
6. The loser of the previous game chooses their character.
7. Steps 4-6 are repeated as necessary.

DOUBLES PLAY
• Team attack is on.
• Sharing stocks is allowed.
• Causing both characters of a team to become frozen (i.e. by interrupting a throw with a wind attack) is to be treated the same way as freezing the opponent in singles. Leaving only one of the opponents' characters frozen is legal since the teammate can work to undo the freeze.

4 PLAYER FREE FOR ALL
* Random stage from starter stages
* Top 2 go through to the next round, single elimination
* Teaming up or extensive ganging up on people is banned. You are welcome to pick on whoever you like for as long as you like as long as you are the only one doing so for an extended period.
*Stalling/Camping in an unreachable spot or constantly going below stage to avoid combat can get you disqualified.

Stages
Starter and Counterpick Stages
Peach's Castle
Congo Jungle
Hyrule Castle
Dream Land

All others are banned unless agreed by both players.

If possible can everyone bring a TV, Wii/GCN, Cube Controllers, SSBB/SSBM disc and memory card. Not required but the more stuff we have the easier and quicker we can run the comps and have more time and tvs to play friendlies on

Factoring in travel costs, membership costs and time lost it would have to be pretty hefty to be worthwhile....mind you I'd like to play in Adelaide someday also.

Oh sweet, i didn't realise there was a tournament scene in Adelaide. I've been wanting to play competitive for some time now. Just gotta look for someone to drag with me, none of my mates are really interested in competitive smash.

Those halo rules are wacked. Zanzibar is stupid if one team gets both snipers. Starting weapon should always be battle rifle too. Secondary weapon should be nothing and weapons on map should be no duals.

Prizes

There are usually a $30-$40 prizes for the overall winners of console, small prizes given out for each comp and big prizes in a raffle like thing where everyone who has attended gets the chance to win around 20 prizes ranging in value from $1 - over $100.

LPC 22 Review May 5th 2007

LPC 22 was a success and fun was had by all who attended.
By the time I got there at 11 there were already fair few people there and the setup was great.

Even though there were less consolers than last time (still had over 20) I think we all had more fun than last time with alot of
different games being played like: Smash Bros, Halo 2, Tekken 5, Wii Sports, Mario Kart DS and many more.

Wii Sports Bowling
The Wii Sports Bowling competition ran all day, everyone had unlimited tries with the highest score at the end winning.
I had the first turn to demonstrate and scored 280 with a strike a spare and then 10 in a row.
People had alot of fun playing bowling all day with alot of people having a go. Shano's cousin Aaron scored 227 but unfortunatly did not enter the comp.

Top Score: Jamage (280)
1st: Shano (249)
2nd: DJ: (211)
3rd: Tristo (206)

Shano left before I could take a photo of the winners so here is a pic of him picking up spares on his way to victory.

Super Smash Bros Melee
The Super Smash Bros Melee comp started at about 3:30 and even though none of our previous winners attended this time
we still had some really good players that showed some great skill and for the first time ever we had a new guy win.
Congrats to Carl on his win after winning from the losers bracket and I hope you and your mates return and I hope
Oli, Suhayb, 2SXC and everyone else come next time for a massive duel.

Tekken 5
The Tekken 5 comp wasnt planned but there was alot of interest and proved to be alot of fun. The semi final between Caine and Hybrid
was a great match and with Caine scoring a very close and hard fought win to go on to beat Vippin in the final who also put in a good effort.

1st: Caine
2nd: Vippin
3rd: Hybrid

Halo 2
Halo 2 didnt happen until about 9:00 (next time will be around 7pm). We only had 1 round (next time we will do more) and did a
FFA on Lockout with a 15 minute time limit, Battle Rifle Starting weapon and Human weapons on the map. The game was close
until the very end with Saw only winning by 2 or 3 kills, I ended up coming 4th.

1st: Saw
2nd: Rex
3rd: Viper
4th: Jamage

Warioware Smooth Moves (Wii)
Warioware was a last minute competition that started at 10pm. We did 5 player lifeline (which is where everyone gets 5 turns in random
mini games and the more points you get the more ropes you get on the lifeline which people take turns cutting the ropes to determine the winner).
It was a riot with everyone twisting, turning, shaking and doing all sorts of funny things with the remote.

The PC people seemed to have alot of fun but I was mainly to busy running the console side to know what really went on but im sure someone can help with that.

All up it was a really good event and im sure everyone cant wait for LPC 23 on June 2nd.
Thankyou to all that attended from th LPC team, we hope to see you all next time and we appreciate your support.
Also thankyou to all of our sponsors without them we wouldnt probly exist so be sure to support the people that help make all this possible and have prizes for all of you.

Not to burst your bubble, to but to the large Smash community in other areas of Australia, the only true competitionyou will find is the top 5 really. We are the only ones who know Advanced techniques and Mind games at a developed stage... Well Jamage and the others are 'learning'

Also to add, Jamage has only won LPC that many times, or placed high because the top 5 weren't there to play, to be honest Adelaide has a few good smashers (me of course :D) but overall if you go to lpc you will find 10 people max who would be able to play competitively in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane etc... So come down and ask for myself, Oliver, Suhayb, Dave, and Daiki for a game if you're ever in adelalide around lpc (once a month) and we'll be glad to oblige.

LPC 23 Review (June 2nd 2007)

LPC 23 Review (June 2nd 2007)

LPC 23 was really great and I think everyone there had alot of fun. There were more consolers this time (about 40) than ever I Think and a fair few PC gamers aswell but not as many.
The PC gamers played more consoles and joined in on more multiplayer games than ive ever seen, it was great.
I REALLY enjoyed this Lan even though I was extremly busy most of the day and didnt get a chance to play more SSBM and I didnt even get to join in on the big Halo 2 matches that were happening all day.

There was a fair amount of retro games played but all the Tvs we had were mainly taken up by SSBM and Halo 2 and poeple were too stuck into practising for the comps and didnt get much recreational gaming in.
People played alot of the Virtual console games on my Wii and a few people played retro compiliation disc's.
Micolous playing SNES Scope games with the Wiimote was way cool too.
We just didnt have the time this event everything was crazy but ina good way.

Super Smash Bros Melee
The Super Smash Bros Melee comp was massive with 27 entrants and probly the best bunch of players gathered together in this State ever. Oli had a tough time winning this comp as alot of people are improving and there were good players, some he'd never played before.
There was a great level of competition in the tournament and in the freindlies, even the less expreienced players and some of the PC people had alot of fun
I hope everyone practices for the next comp as its getting more and more intense everytime.
Next one should be even bigger and better.
Thanks heaps to Oli for helping me run the SSBM comp again.
Vids Coming soon.

1st: Oli
2nd: Suhayb
3rd: Haku (Daiki)
4th: Kizmmit - Falco
5th: Zath - Marth
5th: Jamage - Cpt Falcon
7th: Carl - Samus
7th: Adem - Luigi

Halo 2
Halo 2 was played by many from the time I got there to the time I had to go and from what I saw everyone was having a riot and got alot of good games in before the comp started.
I did pretty well for only having played it for a few hours in the last 6 months and about half way though the 6v6 on Lockout I had the most kills for my team but ended getting the 4th amount of kills.

1st: Reclaim3r
2nd: Falcon (Saw)
3rd: Kizmmit and Strik3 (Molimo man)

Wii Sports Bowling
Wii Sports Bowling ran all day again and was a hit again, we will do it next time. It was played by many for hours on the 40" LCD and some people were playing from the other side of the hall to try to create the distance of a bowling ally.
A score of 276 was made by iGenocide but he had some help so it wasnt official.

1st: Jamage (278)
2nd: Falcon (240)
3rd: Strik3 (216)
4th: iGenocide (205)
5th: Micolous (201)

Tekken 5
Tekken 5 wasnt planned again but there was alot of interest and we had 14 entrants fighting it out with Hybrid eventually taking out 1st Prize using Feng. Damm u using him I have no idea how to to fight him and all my Kings 10 hit combos and chain grapples werent enough.

Dodgeball
Dodgeball was a riot as always. We first played a FFA with the last one standing winning the prize.
Then we did 2 team games with 10 a side and me and Kizmmit being captains. Numbers were uneven so I went over to the other team and was beaten twice by the people I had selected lol.

1st: Kizmmit

LPC 24 Review (July 14th 2007)

Another great Lan again. It was a great day of social gaming with plenty of games being played but none more than good ol Smash Bros. DDR setup was sick and plenty of people had a go of that. Alot of people were in and out of the place so none of the photos actually show how many people were there. Next one will be even better and I look forward to seeing all our Xbox guys back at LPC 25 :), we will run Halo 2.

Competition Winners:

Super Smash Bros Melee Crew Battles
1st time ever at LPC and it was alot of fun even if it was hard to organise mainly due to people dissapearing.
My crew got 2nd and almost won thanks to Dave nearly taking out 3 people with 11 stock between then (he had only 5) and he was so close to victory when he suicided. We will definatly do them again sometime in the near future. Probly again at LPC 26 I reckon, at LPC 25 we will do 1v1 and 2v2.

1st: Crew#3
Theif
Seifer/Alic
Kisame/Rahan
Suhayb

2nd: Kaos Krew
Jamage
Dave/2SXC
Techa
Shano
Aisuka

3rd: Crew #4
Carl
Zath
Hybrid
Bobby
Shadow

Super Smash Bros Melee 1v1
LPC 24 probly had the best group of SSBM players ever assembled in South Australia and it was the main event of the Lan. 39 entrants being our 2nd biggest SSBM comp ever but the group was definatly alot better and alot of people have improved. It was organised well (thanks again Oli) and run relly well.

1st: Oli
2nd: Suhayb
3rd: Dave/2SXC
4th: Kizmmit
5th: Haku/Daiki
5th: Jamage
7th: Carl
7th: Seifer/Alic

Mario Strikers Charged Football
Great game that spawned a really fun and exciting comp. We played a best of 3 series with 3 minute games on the standard grass feild. Semi Final between me and Dragon Roar was intense (Bloody Shy Guy). Everyone that enterd had alot of fun.

1st: Hybrid
2nd: Dragon Rawr
3rd: Jamage

Warioware Smooth Moves
Warioware was a hell of alot of fun and was so funny watchin people not wanting to look stupid but still trying to play the game and win.
We did lifeline where anyone can win and all the pros got taken out in the 1st round (like me :() and the final was between 2 people that had never even played it before and Hybrid won his second comp of the day with Dragon Rawr (the SA Nintendo Connection tour 07 winner) coming second.

1st: Hybrid
2nd: Aisuka

Wii Sports Bowling
Wii Sports Bowling didnt get enough play because most the tvs were taken up with SSBM but there were still a fair few people who had a go. It will run again next time, hopefully on a spare tv all day.

1st: Jamage (288)
2nd: Techa (285)
3rd: Logey (279)
4th: Chris (268)
5th: Shazmo (245)

LPC 25 Review, August 25th 2007

LPC 25 was crazy......whoa what a Lan.

Great Lan again.
Heaps of people there and a fair few regulars couldnt make it
We just didnt have enough time this lan to run all the comps because it was so hectic and their were alot of people there which made tournamnets go longer.
Soccer also took up some time but was worth it for everyone involved and was a good change from the usual Dodgeball which we would have done aswell if we had the time.

SSBM was as crazy as ever and with Halo 2 making 1 final appearence before #3 is out (Halo 2 may still run in future).
So many different gaming machines: Wii's, 360's, PS2's, PSP's, Gamecubes, DS's, Xbox's, PC's and even a PS3. We also had Guitar Hero on PS2 and Xbox 360 as well as a DDR setup.

Penty of Jolt Cola and Coke was consumed and I cant remember what time the Pizza got there but there was about 20 family size ones.

Console Competition Winners

Super Smash Bros Melee 1v1
With Oli our Usual winner not being able to make it to LPC 25 the stage was set for Suhayb to take victory but was upset by 2SXC and his Cpt Falcon (more like Cpt Ownage).
The 1v1 took so long with so many entrants, other things going on, people being busy with other competitions and the worst of all people going off and playing freindlies when they should be going to their next match, you know who you are. Because of all that we didnt get time to run the 2v2.
Apart from that a great SSBM comp with a few good new players and most of the regulars.

1st: 2SXC/Dave
2nd: Suhayb
3rd: Hybrid/George
4th: Kizmmit
5th: Alic
5th: Carl
7th: Rahan
7th: Jamage

Halo 2
Halo 2 was played all day and everyone had alot of fun as usual. Because I was so busy with other things I let the regulars basicly run their own comp with the rules that had been set out and agreed were fair for all. From what I heard and saw the comp was hectic.

1st: iGenocide
2nd: Rex
3rd: Falcon

Wii Sports Bowling
Was played on both the 68cm tv and a projector for a while. People were having a ball playing it on the projector with noobs and pros all having a go. Scores were put down by many
I had a go and would have got a perfect score if it wasnt for that #10 on the 7th that wobbled but wouldnt go down.

1st: Jamage (279) :D
2nd: Falcon (238) (Pictured above)
3rd: Techa (231)

Mario Party 8
The first ever SA Mario party comp was held at LPC 25 but unfortunatly it had to be cut short due to time restraints and the 2v2
minigames had to be cut. There were still a bunch of fun minigames I had pickd out for everyone that balanced skill and luck well.

1st: Nathan
2nd: iGenocide
3rd: Cheese

Warioware Smooth Moves
Was run for the 3rd time in a row and is becoming quite popular as anyone can win, you just have to play and have fun in the meantime. Once again all the experienced players got eliminated in the 1st round and somehow Hybrid and Aisuka made it into the finals again when they boh have hardly played the game. This time Aisuka got his revenge.

1st: Aisuka
2nd: Hybrid
3rd: Zac

Console comp Scores (from Wii Bowling, Warioware and Marioparty 8)
1st-10th Shown
1st: Aisuka - 190
2nd: Techa - 187
3rd: Jamage - 173 (I didnt even enter MP8)
4th: iGenocide - 150 <-- gets 3rd prize as an admin took 3rd place
5th: Zac - 148.2
6th: Reclaimer - 142
7th: Rex - 140.6
8th: Hybrid - 130
8th: Cheese - 130
10th: Falcon - 119

Indoor Soccer

Soccer games were as follows:
Team 3v2: 1 - 0
Team 5v4: 1 - 0
Team 1v2: 1 - 0
Team 3v4: 1 - 0
Team 5v1: 1 - 0
Team 4v2: Team 2 forfeits
Team 3v5: 1 - 0
Team 1v4: 1 - 0
Team 5v2: Team 2 forfeits
Team 3v1: 1 - 0

Team 3: 4 wins
Team 5: 3 wins
Team 1: 2 wins
Team 4: 1 wins
Team 2: 0 wins
As for the PC side:
1st: Beppi (522.29)
2nd: Demon (442.43)
3rd: Woodstar (426.03)
4th: micolous (332.42)
5th: Aisuka (315.83) <-- gets fourth prize as an admin took fourth place
6th: SSTJ (314.52)
7th: Bigwilly (300.00)
8th: a_newbie (284.01)
9th: SilverWolf24 (258.46)
10th: Techa (211.24)

Congratulations to the people who also won door prizes. I think it was Xaero who won himself a 100$ GameTraders voucher.

Is this a regular event or a once off? Because I don't reckon I can get up to tournament standard in time for this one...

They are about every 4-6 weeks. Even if your not up to tournament standards you should come and play freindlies and still have a go at the tourny coz its the best way to practice. You wont find a better bunch of SSBM players in SA than the people at LPC.

LPC 26 Review (September 29th 2007)

Once again another great lan just with a few less people than last time (still over 35) because of Port getting thrashed and the Nintendo Connection Tour on the same day but it wasnt as crowded and caotic as the past few lans so the comps ran smoother and people got a chance to play alot of games they havent had a chance at previous lans. It was also a good chance for everyone to have a chat and socilaize. I actually had alot of fun myself this lan coz i wasnt swammped with stuff to do and people asking me questions.
Console Comp Winners

Super Smash Bros Melee 1v1
It was the biggest game at LPC 26 as usual and its popularity will never die. Most of the good players were present and there were less noobs (noobs are quite welcome though its the only way to get good) so the comp was pretty hardcore and alot of close battles were had. The comp ran really smooth with all the rounds getting done quite quicky thanks to alot better cooperation from people and help from a couple of people. Thanks again to Oli for doing most the work with the comp and to George for being in charge of recording everyones matches and doing a good job.
Oli did not want to show his prize in the pic coz we all know he's gonna play that game more than SSBM :)
Dave is holding a copy of King of Fighters 2003 for PS2 for 2nd place.

1st: Oli - Fox
2nd: 2SXC/Dave - Cpt Falcon
3rd: Suhayb - Marth
4th: Carl - Samus
5th: Kizmmit - Falco
5th: Hybrid - Falco
7th: Jamage - Cpt Falcon, Fox
7th: Nabeel - Fox

Super Smash Bros Melee 2v2
Finally we had time to do a 2v2 becuase the 1v1 went smooth and we wernt doing crew battles.
Half of the smashers had left or were busy by the time we started it but it was great fun as SSBM
always is and people had to use a few different tactics than a 1v1 with FF on.

1st: Suhayb and Haku
2nd: Dylan and Kizmmit

Halo 3
1st Ever LPC Halo 3 comp was awsome as its a great multiplayer game. We didnt have many 360's there but it didnt stop us all from having alot of fun. The final was done on Last Resort (updated Zanzibar from Halo 2) with standard weapons and settings. Being the 1st that was a test comp next one will be massive I guarentee.

1st: iGenocide
2nd: Cpt Misery
3rd: 2SXC/Dave
4th: Jamage

Mario Strikers Charged Football
Nabeel got his revenge on Hybrid after losing to him in the final of the online comp he had the edge in person and won his first competition. Congrats.
For those who dont know Mario Strikers is a very technicle game that is both easy to play but requires alot of skill to be really good and some of our players are quite good.

1st: Nabeel
2nd: Hybrid
3rd: Jamage and Suhayb

Wii Sports Bowling
The Wii Bowling comp turned into a riot and wasnt really played seriously this lan but was alot of fun as always.
We had people trying to bowl from all over the hall, from tables, chairs and even someones shoulders.
Pictured Below: iGenocide scoring double strikes from Cpt Misery's shoulders.

1st: Jamage (256)
2nd: Techa (245)
3rd: iGenocide (213)

MarioKart Doubledash 8 player Lan
Gamecubes were linkup up via Broadband adapters for the 1st time in ages (we use to do it every Lan) becuase of MKDS and the Wii taking over but we just did MKDS over Wifi so it was a good chance for everyone to have a go at MKDD 8 player linkup and it was a massive hit with us having to do a few rounds coz everyone wanted a go. We will definatly do this again and will have at least 12 players.
1st: Oli
2nd: Gab
3rd: Adem/Luigi

Warioware Smooth Moves
For the 4th time Warioware was quite popular and gave alot of people a laugh. This is very easy to run and only takes about 30 mins for 30 entrants so it will be a regular at LPC until it proves unpopular.
1st: Kotra
2nd: Aisuka
3rd: iGenocide

Top 10 Console Scores From Bowling, Mariokart and Warioware
1st: Jamage - 185.3

Just about everyone who participated in PC comps shown there. We also had a last minute give-away of some extra prizes from AMD with a pop-quiz, which are also shown there. So basically everyone ended up with something, because we were lucky to get so much stuff from them. :)

Doorprize Winner
Radar
got Miami Vice PSP game. He also won the PC competition, and it was his first LPC, making him rather lucky. :p

Indoor Soccer
People seem to love Indoor Soccer as is taken over from dodgeball.
If we had time we would definatly do both.
1st: Cheese, Chris, 2SXC Dave, a newbie, Xaero.

Online Console Comp Winners (Sep 22nd and 23rd)
We had alot of people sign up for the online comps but alot of people couldnt make it and people were having Broadband problems but we still had enough people to run all the comps. This was also a test one that went well so anoher will be done on November 3rd and 4th with better prizes. In Mariokart George and I drew in points so we did one more race that was so close, thank you Blue shell
