I'm sick and tired of this ****. I'm getting beaten by spammy low level ****s. I beat ****ing decoy on wifi sometimes yet I lose to scrubs who just spam ftilt over and over again! I ****ing beat high ranked MK ladder players and still lose to dsmash nado scrubs! ****! WTF am I doing wrong!
playing wifi
I got 25th, sorry I failed everyone :(
I got 33rd, same story.
he also DIDN'T do a lot of things though, he didn't ever punish side-b with utiilt.
I talked to him after winners finals was over (with a translator) and asked him stuff like that and tried to tell him. He said the utilt is too difficult to land.

I'm not gunna lie though, Brood won game one in winners finals and dotcom starts giving me trash about it being an unwinable match-up. At that point I was like aight, hold on a second.... and stopped rooting for Brood. Made my way to Larry, and gave him the works. Told him what he needed to know and the victories were history from there. Sorry for the betrayal, but I did help both sides - just wanted to make sure Larry ***** winners finals.

Unwinable MU is unwinable. After learning everything that I have at apex, I would go as far to say that Falco is our only hard match-up. I'll leave it at that with no explanation so I can read the flames later. lol.

I kinda skipped page 293-298... cause **** got real boring. If you have the same posts per page as me, you'll understand, haha.

I really am interested in this eliminating all our bad matchups thing. I know how to Usmash OoS, now I've just gotta apply it lol

I love your enthusiasm

You know what my least favorite thing about Olimar is?

We never have a time to taunt :(

Reason I thought of this: I recently learned about ledge running, and while I'm figuring things out I decided to try it out just for fun. Oli's looks pretty cool because not only is he running on a ledge, his pikmin start jumping too. Too bad there's never a time for this :(

Falco isn't that bad guys

I've played this MU numerous times, and I figured out a lot of little things since the last time I played Larry, which already gave me a lot of confidence for next time. But then to add to that, watching Brood play Larry gave me even more ideas.

Fino, I promise you that your mindset is what's going to keep you from getting any higher than 33rd. Falco is beatable. I've beaten Larry before, and I'm undefeated against SK92.

HILT (and everyone): Does Olimar have extra lag on his blue and white throws? I've been working on some high precision combos, and for some reason I think I'm having a harder time when I dthrow with a blue/white, yet red/yellow is easier to follow up. Help me!

Also: We have dthrow-purple toss-purple toss-regrab on Falco, just figured that out a second ago

Remember, dthrow-dair-usmash is guaranteed too

Rich, I love that you experiment with things late at night

I also love that you always tack on that combo reminder at the end  And didn't you tell us about that purple toss combo last time? I know that someone said it recently

hehe

I think that's a slightly new one I figured out, I can't remember

I was messing around with doing dthrow-purple toss-regrab, but I think I still prefer dthrow-dair-usmash. I could not for the life of me make olimar run after a single purple toss hahaha. But the double purple toss is sexxxxxy.

I'm trollin Rich, don't mind me. Lol.

I forgot supercon, but I'm still calling it right now, gimme 2 weeks.

EDIT: if you are testing something, make sure it is COMPLETELY vanilla brawl. No stage or character textures whatsoever

@Rich, I'll be posting my info on hitstun soon, but every pikmin has the same amount of cool down lag. They do, however, deal different amounts of hitstun at different percents and have different percentages that the hitstun decreases at. But yeah, I'm working on the thread now. It's just huge and taking a lot of time, lol.

I discovered this a while ago (last year when I started actively going to tourneys). Side taunt can dodge falco's Lasers ;o

Remember his time zone is PST. While It was like 4:30am where I live (EST), its still only 1:30 for him.

There's no reason why that shouldn't work, as far as I can see, Echo, but from what I've heard Oli's BDACUS is about as bad as his regular DACUS

I'm still going to DACUS more though, just for ****s and giggles. I randomly tossed out a DACUS in pools against Larry and beat his BDACUS for the kill. I wtf'd.

That was basically my best moment in this tourney, so, ;_;

Rust, we didn't even get to play. >< They just rolled out with our sheet fast lol.

I was impressed with what I was seeing, though. Our pool was pretty legit.

This is weird because my great grandma lives in Ocala and my grandma lives in Bowie, which just happens to be where the dudes above me are from. :/

Some things about double Usmash strings:

  • Following up is hard to do correctly with anything other than Pikmin Chain

  • Yellow Usmash can combo from any color Usmash, even Purple, assuming that the said character was grounded and DI has been read. This includes Jigglypuff (lightest character and slowest faller).

  • Anything can combo from a White Usmash, including Purple. However, on characters lighter than Metaknight (Kirby, Squirtle, GnW, Jigglypuff), you will likely have to chase.

  • You will also have to chase characters who are less floaty than Ivysaur (Toon Link, Marth, Zelda, Peach, Lucario, Kirby, Samus). ROB and Ivysaur are exceptions because of how wide they are compared to the human characters. I hit Ness with White Usmash to Purple 7 out of 10 times without moving, one of them being whiffed; he seems to be the middle ground

  • The trajectory of Usmash's knockback is behind Olimar. It sends the opponents backwards. If the opponent struck with Usmash is in front of him, he'll be drawn into the next one. If he is behind Olimar, then you will have to account for DI + the trajectory away from Olimar.

  • However, if the character is close enough to be touching, say, Olimar's nose, it will send them slightly forward into the area that the Second Pikmin in the Pikmin Chain would hit.

  • The weight and falling speed list can be found here: http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=4300535&postcount=1

That's it for now. Because, I'm bored :(

Nice summary, I like :) But post in the tactical thread next time - it makes me excited to see it on my CP :D

no one probably knows this, but is Brood going to play in any more US tourneys, or did he leave to Japan after ApeX?

Umm, just going to take a shot in the dark and say that no one is paying extra money to stay somewhere when they have nothing important to do. Aka I'd be willing to bet that he's back in Japan by now.

Pretty sure the Japanese won't be around again until next Apex. At the earliest. Unless other Japanese players come, anyways.

Could be wrong though, they might not even come to Apex 2011

Now I'm wondering what Olimar would look like in sandals, shorts, a Hawaiian T-shirt and sunglasses

Pretty **** sexy, methinks
