Lol, I love how you switched your allegiance from Canada to North America ^_^ You were cheering for Canada all yesterday and now you wish you partake in America's glory? You're lucky you're at least an Olimar or I'd flame you so hard for this ;)

But yea, what Tin Man said :D

I finally got a hold of some internet so here it goes.

First of all, if you don't know how to jump cancel and upsmash out of shield, you NEED to. Every bad match-up for olimar becomes infinitely easier. Logic consistently beating boss proves this

Second of all, if I don't cover it below, as much as I thought the exact same about brood, you guys just don't understand. He is good.

Also, I would probably put myself before logic and rich right now. MLG placing, sponsorships, etc doesn't really mean anything right now. They're both just better.

There is so much I learned the past couple days, experience, ATs, tricks tactics etc I feel like my head is about to explode. I will be coming out of Apex unstoppable

Lastly, I don't expect to place well at apex. I barely made it out of pools beating pika pika by 1 game. There is so much I've learned already. Need to get **** down before Supercon @.@

Do you guys think Olimar is good in doubles? If yes then why, or if no why not? What are his best teammates also?
Olimar is good in doubles if he has a good doubles partner that knows how to babysit him

FYI, I am never ****ing teaming with a ROB ever again. **** CH!BO, worst experience in teams I've ever had next to teaming with level 9 luigi, but at least that was fun.

brood is good, he seems faster. uses up b well

we'll see tomorrow how he does, he's not the m2k of oli's like many people have been saying though lol... but he is still very good and his style is different, everyone shall see tomorrow
^This

Logic and I seem to agree that Brood just seems to move faster in the air w/o whistle bouncing or any momentum changing things. Crazy.

One thing I noticed, and is the reason everyone keeps calling him faster, is that he stands still. A lot. A common trait for pretty much any other Oli I've seen (American, Canadian, Spanish, whatever) is to try to move as much as possible, but Brood tends to remain stationary. Then, when he finally dashes in for an attack, it is far less expected and seems faster as a result. Could be a strategy worth looking into imo, though this may just be a culture shock thing where American players simply aren't used to an Olimar playing this way.
The thing about the Japanese is that they take the time to think and figure stuff out in advance.

Gn3s and I were talking about it this morning. There's a lot of times where you just CAN'T camp the japanese because if you camp them you give them time to think. You have to match their aggressive playstyle and speed if you want to win.

Again, this isn't 100% true, it's just a speculation. Logic thinks you need to camp them because Brood almost lost to a Link. Though, it was funny watching that match. Basically, Brood comes from spawn on his last stock with Link at mid-high percent. Then the camp came out. Logic and I be watchin it, and I turn to Logic and was like "We Americanized him! =D" lol. The link was doing well though because he was camping the over aggressive brood. Link is definitely not a MU you should be aggro'ing, so that's probably what happened.

Not to change the topic, but epic Falco ditto Pool match on the stream: Larry v. Rain

edit: Update guys. Larry won 2-0. The first match was somewhat close (Larry was a mid-percents when he got the win) but the second one was a shutout. He got TWO 0-death chain grabs on Rain within 45 seconds, and then a third one immediately after that but Rain SDIed it onto the stage. But that didn't really matter when 15 seconds later he Illusioned off the stage and fell to his death - 3 STOCKED
Here's the thing guys. I don't think you understand how FAST the japanese learn. My thought is this
(1) Larry is known to be the most **** *** FALCO in the nation.

(2) Larry is also known to be a top 5 player in the nation

(3) Rain was pretty much guaranteed out of pools

That being said, I think RAIN was watching Larry, how he played etc. and EVERYTHING that RAIN either didn't know how to or saw Larry do that he liked he will have learned tonight and will be using it tomorrow.

Also, RAIN is a ****ing ******. Not just a player, but a person as well. I would like to see RAIN vs M2K in Winner's Finals.

**** Brood.*Brofist*
Unnecessary hate is unnecessary. You guys will have to explain to me why you don't like him.
Like, I understand a bit... cause I've been trolled since like day 1 about how amazing he is. He certainly doesn't live up to his over hype, but he's definitely a REALLY good olimar.

if you seem him play, you will realize easily that even with the flashy stuff that makes oli fast (which is not great for oli considering he is built on a fortress like defense and the buffering is mostly fluff) you would realize his mindset and style sets him under the top top olis of the nation

he seems to be only fifth best oli nationwide, under me/rich, greward (trust me, his olimar is really good), and logic
No love for me? =/

I understand, I'm kinda bad at this game <.<

BTW, if you haven't caught on yet, this is Fino. Would post more but coney is crying so hard to get on right now :p

Peace out, we all need to talk later ;o

I keep on telling myself this but I never seem to remember :chuckle:

Second of all, if I don't cover it below, as much as I thought the exact same about brood, you guys just don't understand. He is good.
I can tell he's good. Everyone should stop hyping him to the unreal level they are and just hype him to the level he's actually on, because he's a great player.

There is so much I learned the past couple days, experience, ATs, tricks tactics etc I feel like my head is about to explode. I will be coming out of Apex unstoppable
This sounds great!

This sounds...less great :( At least you've got a bunch of new tricks, and events like Apex should be a learning experience if nothing else ^_^

Logic and I seem to agree that Brood just seems to move faster in the air w/o whistle bouncing or any momentum changing things. Crazy.
We're gonna have to figure out how he does that.

That would explain a lot. Every time I see someone playing a Japanese player and there's a halt fire for however long, the Japanese player always comes out of it guns blazing with amazing reads O_O

Lol @ Americanizing Brood = Throw moar pikmin ^_^

Here's the thing guys. I don't think you understand how FAST the japanese learn. My thought is this

I've gotta say, you're probably right. No way he would've gone down that easy in a match where he was trying. I also agree because of the way he handled pools; for everyone who didn't watch his matches, he'd go Falco the first match, win, and then go MK the second match to conserve energy. Fighting Larry is probably a big undertaking, so it makes perfect sense that he'd just look for tactics the first game and then throw the second. Tomorrow is going to be VERY interesting...

Also, RAIN is a ****ing ******. Not just a player, but a person as well. I would like to see RAIN vs M2K in Winner's Finals.
I wanna see that match anywhere

This is what I've been saying all day.

(Though that whole "I'm the best Olimar" shtick is a bit annoying.)

Thank god you said this at the end because I hadn't figured it out  It made everything that was said a lot more credible than if a ROB main had said it. And none of that bad talk - if you lose, it's just because you're learning new things ;) And like Rich said, I had just forgotten you had gone lol, you better show your stuff tomorrow! GIVE EM THE FROSTED FLAKES LIKE THEY'VE NEVER HAD BREAKFAST BEFORE!

Also @Dabuz: Greward isn't American, he lives in Spain

@Fino, Brood is fine, I just can't stand people who are unnecessarily cocky, and put themselves on a pedestal above everyone else and refuse to acknowledge the fact that they aren't the best. Same reason I can't stand Nick Riddle. I'll explain more another time. I don't hate brood and know he's better than a good portion of Olimars, myself included. I just can't stand his elitist personality, regardless of how good he may actually be. Especially if he can't live up to what he's preaching himself to be.

More from me later, off to church.

logic or fino, tell brood that if he thinks he is the best oli, there are still 2 top contenders for best oli missing from the tourney and if he can't even beat a person all of america's top olis can 2-0 (chibo) and then he loses to randoms and gets 2-0ed by anti, he has no right to talk and say he is still the best oli, he may have the highest ech skill, but this is brawl, not melee, i its nto about the tech skill, its about the mindgames

also, i know greward is spain, that was a typo, i meant to say internationally

dammit, i better see an olimar main outplace him, no one disrespects us without showing his worth, GO LOGIC, SHOW HIM WHAT THE SKILL OF ONE OF THE 3 BEST OLIMARS CAN DO!!!!!!!!!!

Wha. . . . .
WHAT
WHAT?
WHAT?!
I..I don't even..how.....this is unbelievable...I just....I think I'm in shock...Ally's definitely going to keep saying Snake sucks...I just...WOW

Brood just beat Ally

oh no, more Olimar mains.
But I like our family ;-;

Wow at Brood hate at the beginning. I just wanted to see the flood myself.
It will come, it will come...

I got 25th, sorry I failed everyone :(
Don't you dare say you failed - in a tournament that large that's a great placing, and you got further than any of the rest of us so be proud of that fact :)

But I guess it's just something that has to be accepted...people aren't going to stop saying Brood's the best Olimar anytime soon...................in your defense though, I think he had an easier bracket...but then I guess he did two stock Ally....I'm so lost

oh, and here's a bracket; since then, San beat Gnes so make that adjustment if you're interested

Are you guys watching Brood? He just shut down Lee Martin's Meta Knight by timing him out with the stock lead and KOing him as he tried to get it back. Everyone needs to watch, learn, take notes. and discuss.

Dudes, cut the crap and stop hating on Brood. DO YOU SEE WHERE HE IS AT!? I don't care what you think - I may have been doubtful in the beginning, but he deserves this hype now BECAUSE HE HAS EARNED IT. He has gone all the way to Winner's Finals, so stop crying about it. HE'S GOOD. REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD. Instead of complaining about how much we're sick of Brood hype, we should give respect where it is due, stop hating on Brood so much, and start picking his game apart to see what we can do better.

And I swear to goodness, if someone says that there's nothing to be learned from Brood's gameplay then you have too much pride to admit that he got where he is for a reason.

If he wasn't this good, then we could trash him all we like, BUT HE IS.

@Hilt: That was dumb to take him to Delfino though  I couldn't believe that garbage XD Still, I'd rather people stay in the dark about why our good stages are good - it helps the rest of us too ;)

I'm sorry but the amount of meat riding occurring in the stream is ridiculous. He also lost to kadaj earlier. And I bet mikehaze would trash him, or the rest of the marths. Plus he plays blue gloves.

Lee ****in took him to Delfino rofl so stupid. Rich still wanna do that $5 money match??
You should start a stage discussion about Delfino or maybe get a counterpick thread for each character going because after watching some of these Apex videos, stages seem to be increasingly more important. Not to mention the new Rule Set.

Why do you feel negatively that he's doing well? He's proving that Olimar does have the potential to do extremely well even though many people, including myself are doubtful. Instead of poking out your lip at his success, you should be taking notes so that you can be successful yourself.

Ally just spanked Rain 2-0, some of the best reads I've ever seen. HE EVEN GRABBED HIM OUT OF AN ILLUSION. Seriously good play in that match from Ally

And that means Rain has been eliminated. Which also means Brood is the only Japanese player left.

IS BROOD BEING RECORDED? I gotta see some vids
Unfortunately the tournament organizers of Apex didn't set up the codes properly so all matches over three minutes (which are ALL of Brood's matches) are nothing being recorded. The LiveStream is however being recorded by people in the LiveStream itself. So you'll be able to watch them.

The link for the LiveStream is here: http://brawlstream.vgbootcamp.com/

^Yea, iirc it always does that when the code works. But anyways

LARRY JUST SENT M2K TO LOSERS

M2K IS ABOUT TO FIGHT ALLY IN LOSERS

M2K OR ALLY IS PLACING FIFTH AT APEX

:O

GO LARRY!

And now it's Larry v. Brood in WF. I don't even know who to root for - America or Olimar?
