I compare playing online to masturbation. :O

You hate doing it but sometimes when you've gone a long time without play you get desperate.

But it just...it robs me of the ability to do so many things...powershield, air dodge, whistle, whistle bounce, and even aside from evasive maneuveurs a whole bunch of other little nuances...it makes me feel like even worse of a player than i am..it's just hurting my self esteem way too much

So many MK stages o.O. You'd think they would make a more conservative stage list without norfair, brinstar, rainbow cruise, etc being legal AT THE SAME TOURNEY. Severely against the ledge grab limit is also gay imo. I think the new starter stage list and rules for picking starter stages are really cool. Can't wait to try it for myself. I'm also really glad with the way character infinites are allowed. No bans on DDD's walking/standing chaingrab and no bans on Marth's infinite grab releases. I like :]. And finally, i like how the suicide claw rule is gone and the winner is determined by the winner screen.

As for online. I don't like it, some characters are broken there, but its the best way for me to practice 9seeing as i don't play the people in my region because they don't really care about brawl enough to go to a meeting place and have a smashfest, and the ones who do go are far worse than me). Vocal, if i can't whistle bounce online, thats ur fail on tech skill. And I suggest u just play ppl on the EC. I learned too only play ppl in EC recently. No more California brawls unless its Rich Brown or just a friendly :p

Question: Dthrow>Usmash>SH Tether. I did this many times earlier, it's 10,000,000 times more reliable than Dthrow>Usmash>Uair, and it *****. Why does no one do this?

DI does not seem to matter. They don't DI? Perfect. They DI away? I don't think they can DI far enough - I haven't seen anyone do it. Even if they did, grounded tether would still followup, but no one likes grounded tether besides me ^_^ Oh yea - they DI towards/behind? This is one of the reasons why I love tether: in its initial frames before the actual tether comes out, you can change the direction you want it to face, meaning that if you input a rightwards tether and roll the stick to the left of center before it appears, the tether will come out to the left. My reaction time isn't great and it's still good enough to watch the opponent's DI and adjust tether accordingly, so this isn't difficult. A reversed tether will hit both people that DI above and behind Oli, in my experience.

So flaws? I think it's air dodgeable (don't have anyone to test with), but so what; if it misses, you DI away, land, and continue playing - might even get a free punish if they think they can punish you for it. If it's air dodgeable it also may be possible for some characters to jump up to avoid it, but this would only be dangerous against fastfallers, as against anyone else Oli can just land and continue playing. And if they don't do either of those, hey - free damage from the tether.

Thoughts? And I guess the answer is no - I don't sleep, at least not at night ^_^

upB is 12 frames I think, and uair is 7

of course, that's not factoring in the time to jump to the opponent, range of the attack, etc. I'll start playing with this.

Also: Dthrow-purple toss-purple toss-regrab on snake (probably other characters too) lmao

I will give you that uair is quicker, but as you kind of mentioned its range is severely limited compared to tether - aside from big characters, I rarely get this to connect unless the other player just doesn't know what DI is. Tether doesn't give me these problems :)

And that throw chain sounds TOO good, I've gotta try that sometime - do you SH the purples or just throw them?

Up air also deals a hell of a lot more damage. I could see using chain, though, if the opponent DIs the up smash and/or you don't think an up air would connect.

I'm starting to think up smash may be a better option overall, but I'm not complete sure yet. I'm testing Fair's hitstun now to see how reliable combos are from it, but people have started to realize that you can jump out of dthrow -> Fair -> Regrab, in most matchups. Again, though, I'll have to check the hitstun.

Yeah with the purple toss combo you gotta throw them both in the same shorthop.

I mixup dthrow-usmash and dthrow fair just to keep my opponent on his toes.

Also, I've said it before but it's worth repeating: dthrow-dair-usmash is GUARANTEED on Falco. The timing has to be spot on but it's doable.

With snake, most snakes just airdodge when you dthrow-usmash them, so after the usmash just meet their landing w/ a fsmash and regrab.

Oh and at mid percents when you dthrow them and you run forward and get the regrab or a pivot grab, for some reason they will DI up on the second throw allowing for a fair.

Tin Man, citing that website is not a good idea at all lol.

The longest non tether grab ranges are DDD and Charizard. I think that Charizard is slightly longer, but I'm not sure. Zelda is third longest.

No, DDD has the longest. Then Charizard. After that I'm not sure but I've heard DK lol although I have no idea how true that is.

I thought DDD just had a ******** long pivot grab and his standing grab wasn't as long.

Why can't DDD grab release infinite the psi twins but marth and charizard can O.o?

That doesn't have as much to do with his range, it's just that Marth, Charizard, etc don't have much lag at all from a grab release, while DDD does. Squirtle can do it too (and better) but his grab range isn't nearly as long as DDD/Charizard.

Edit: Sorry guys, Shiro had to come back. I missed her.

Grab ranges are pretty strange at tines. But since dash grabs, standing grabs, and pivot grabs all have different ranges the order of grab length changes slightly.

Two things:

(1) dash attack after fsmash covers a lot of openings when your opponent approaches from the air (to avoid the fsmash)

(2) I've been PACS'ing a lot lately when I notice I have a purple or color I want to use second in line. It's pretty crazy when they're chasing you, and you shuffle to a purple and throw it right away etc. Worth integrating into play-styles ;o

I've gotta finally make myself practice that Falco combo, it just sounds so good :D The rest of this is pretty good stuff too, I love it when you post Rich

Interesting, I might try this.

Sorry I've been gone all day guys; I had some internet problems. However, I spent that time doing more work on how useful tether is in throw combos, and I decided to make a new thread rather than make a super long post in here. Go check it out, there's good stuff and plenty to discuss.

LMMFAO :rotfl: don't apologize, there is no need to. Rich Brown, Logic, Myself, L_Cancel, and other good Olimars have times when we never post fora while lol. I'm just on an active streak right not lol.

Oh guys, new discovery, you decide if it's useful or not:

When Falco chain grabs you, you can whistle the dair spike. I was spiked on stage, so I'm not sure if this would differ offstage, and perhaps it is reliant on when the Falco times his spike, but he seemed to do it quite quickly and I whistled it.

Make of that what you will

its prolly old, and I doubt it will work cause I'm pretty sure you can air dodge before you can whistle, and if we can't air dodge it, then whistling it shouldn't work =/.
