Okay I'm being misunderstood. I understand there are differences in fighting styles. I know. I know everything that you think I don't know.Jesus.

Like... I don't even know how to respond to this man. I feel like I'm getting trolled. Here's what you need to do peeup. Tomorrow, you're gonna go to you nearest dojo, I don't care what Martial Art, Tae-Kwon do, Karate, Muay Thai, Judo, etc... You're gonna sign up, and your gonna stick to it when till you get a Black Belt. Then you can come back and tell me all punches and kicks, or all sword swings are the same. Alternatively, you could just marathon Chinese Kung-fu films till your eyes bleed.
I'm actually interested in reading what you cooked up. You wouldn't mind posting it would you?
There won't be version exclusives.Prepared to get egged on by Sakurai and his fridge logic. Just warning you right now, karma will kick you in the groin if you say stuff like that.
That's making the logical fallacy that more variety is more fun. There's also the possibility that game 1 might have really fun spins on those fighting styles. Games like Stret Fighter and KoF go for more an "inspired" take for adapting fighting styles while other games like Virtua Fighter are far more realistic with their takes.Okay I'm being misunderstood. I understand there are differences in fighting styles. I know. I know everything that you think I don't know.
I'm saying that from the perspective of playing a videogame, that is not enough for me, or most people I know IRL. Example:
Game 1 has 3 characters: a boxer, a karate master, and a capoeria fighter
Game 2 has 3 characters: a swordsman, a mage, and a guy who throws pikmin
I am instantly far more drawn towards game 2 because the characters are MORE different than the characters from game 1. That is not to say that characters from game 1 are not completely different from each other. Because they are. But the variety in the second game is more fun.
I do NOT think that all punches/kicks/sword swings are the same. But a character that only punches, a character that only kicks, and a character that only uses swords is more interesting than 3 characters that blend the 3 of them.
> Sony versions of SF x Tekken.I highly doubt there will be version exclusives. You can't apply Pokemon logic to a fighting game.
Not quite the same thing here. Had there been version exclusive Street Fighter and Tekken characters, there'd be a hell of a lot of backlash. No one really cared for the exclusives save for how stupid Megaman looked. Though we did get this awesome song from the cats.> Sony versions of SF x Tekken.
You're a good Roy fan. I've been saying for a while now that of the Fire Emblem characters that are actually worth consideration, Roy has the most interesting moveset potential. Should really be played up.On the version exclusives thing, I'm hoping there won't be any, but nothings guaranteed at this point. Before I leave, I just want to say something about mah boi.
If Roy returns, I really hope that they abuse the Sword of Seals powers. No, no. I don’t mean make it OP, but I mean in terms of creativity for moves. Although, wouldn't it be funny if Roy (and Mewtwo) return and are top tier? Anyway, we all know that the sword has fire properties, but it is capable of doing other things than just physical attacks. It can create fire projectiles and can even heal Roy. I think this can help differentiate Roy from other sword users like Marth, Ike, and Chrom. Though, I guess just having the fiery sword and being luigified is good enough, but I think they can get more creative with Roy (I’m hoping for it, but not expecting it if he does return).
I expect one, I don't really expect bothI fully expect a return of Roy and Mewtwo.
And I fully hope for Plusle and Minun.
You make a good point. What would be a good moveset for Roy?Funny thing is, Chrom makes a lot more sense for a semi-clone at this point than Roy does given his fighting style and weapon choice.
How does that make sense? Roy IS a clone. Chrom hasn't been added yet?Funny thing is, Chrom makes a lot more sense for a semi-clone at this point than Roy does given his fighting style and weapon choice.
You know what we should discuss? Gargoyles
That show needs a revival.
I think exclusives are unlikely. It would cause a degree of backlash and would interfere with cross-platform play, which looking at Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, it's likely what Sakurai might be going for.Ok, serious question. Is it likely to see exclusive characters for the Wii U and 3DS? You see, I was thinking of buying the Wii U over 3DS, but I'm worried that there might be exclusive characters. I don't know how likely it is, but what if there is, for example, an exclusive character for both systems, but they're a different version of the same character (lol sounds weird I know). So like a different appearance and moveset or something. I know there's another fighting game that has this...but I just can't remember the name...urgh...Or am I just being dumb?
Loved Gargoyles btw. It was like, one of my fav cartoons as a kid.
Now that was an interesting read, I agree with him on his Thesis statement, but the reasons and examples are bit... out there. Anyway, he's right, overly drawn out cutscenes CAN BE cancerous, and the fact that it's prominent in games today is irksome. Exhibit A: TESV Skyrim. You wanna make a new character? Well, enjoy your 30 minute cart-ride and execution scene. Thank you based mods on the PC version. However in RPGs, story-centric elements killing characters and the like is fine imo. It add realism and makes the death more impacting. I never played FF7, but in FF6 for example, the suicide scene... That **** hit like a ton of bricks because you're engaged with the characters, you know them personally. It's.... IMERSHUN.Sakurai's mind is unpredictable. We can't really expect what goes on his head, especially after this.
I suggest you play more fighting games. At least more than Super Smash Bros. You would be surprised how two guys with even similar styles, could have radically different movesets and strategies (Sagat and Adon).Okay I'm being misunderstood. Hmmm... Sakurai more or less made up Ike's playstyle, didn't he? He was probably like "EH. Sword looks heavy, I can work with that."
I'm still not familiar with Chrom but is there any sort of hint for what Sakurai might think to do with him? Chrom becoming the new Roy, and Roy becoming... a new new Roy. That might be pleasing. Though still feels a bit like a GYP.
Gosh I hate Fire Emblem. I mean, if there are only two FE characters in Smash 4, I think, undoubtedly, they would be Marth and Chrom. So because of that I think there would have to be SOMETHING that could be done with Chrom to make him interesting. If we get three characters, it's pretty much a toss-up for what the two non-Marths would be. If we get four, it's obvious who we'll get. WHY DOES THREE HAVE TO BE SO AGGRAVATING.
Oh btw, a hark back to what I said last night about loops:

I usually think of someone being fast as someone who moves around at rapid speed.Fine. What's the difference between being fast and quick?
So like, Marth being quick means he's more agile and evasive, while Chrom being fast is like, well, faster. I guess in terms of speed or velocity (and attacks?).I usually think of someone being fast as someone who moves around at rapid speed.
I think being quick is more like, no can touch you. To be good at maneuvering around people, or dodging
Being fast is more for affiance, and being quick is more for defense
I am really curious what Sakurai will do with Chrom if he does get in because he really does not stand out in FE13. I could see him getting a Javelin as one of his specials to reference the ability to wield lances upon promotion.@Chrom being a clone: After playing Awakening, for the most part Chrom doesn't have any real over-the-top attacks like Ike or Roy, the craziest it gets is him doing a basic jumping slash and his version of Aether which is a basic slash mixed in with a dash attack. Chrom also wields the exact same weapon as Marth, honestly it makes a lot of sense for him to be Marth's Lucas.
As for Roy, more or less what Chrono and other Roy fans have been arguing.
From what I've heard, it wasn't all that great.@ Manly
Didn't they actually have another thing of Red and Stimpy?
Whole new episodes long after it aired on Nick?
That's what I heard at least
Like Isa, Matthew/Adult Isaac, Magnus, Travis Touchdown, Takamaru, Ghirahim, etc?If Crom really does not stand out, as people above have been posting, he should not be added. Two FE lords are enough and both Marth and Ike add diversity in sword styles.
Besides other characters in different worlds spice up the swordplay diversity such as Metaknight and Link.
