Well, Ganon used a trident in Four Swords Adventures... And A Link to the Past.

Looking at Soul Calibur, lets also look at Tekken. Everyone I know (myself excluded) really don't like Tekken because it is, with the exception of some characters like Steve, Kuma, and Yoshimitsu, just punches and kicks. They prefer Soul Calibur because the weapons are varied.

But even within Soul Calibur they don't like character with similar weapons. Granted I only have SCII, but in that game, Sophitia and Cassandra are identical to me and my friends because we play it casually. Yoshimitsu is seperate from the sword users because of his personality, as is Nightmare because his sword is like Cloud's sword from FF rather than a typical sword. But for people with typical swords, like Mitsurugi and Xianghua (sp??), they're both fairly bland.

What I'm trying to say is that in a cast of hugely varied personalities, fighting styles, and weapons, having 3 characters from the same franchise with similar appearances and similar weapons is a bad idea. Even if one is a fragile speedster, one is a mighty glacier, one is a blahblahblah, they're still all sword users. And that is instantly less exciting than 2 sword users and a magician.

Responding to ManlySpirit's statement:
A (usually) blue haired pretty boy, who's the Chosen One to defeat the Dark Lord invading the land using the mythical Sword of Destiny. It pretty much describes most JRPGs, and sans the usually blue haired pretty boy protagonist, most fantasy stories out there.

That's why Chapter 2 of Kid Icarus: Uprising is one of my favorite chapters of the game, as it pokes fun at this well known cliché.

Start at 0:40.

Dang I just got a great move set idea, he uses the trident and the falcondorf move set, he starts by using the trident, but his down b throws the trident at his feet, then he begins to use his falcondorf move set until you pick up the trident

Jesus.

Like... I don't even know how to respond to this man. I feel like I'm getting trolled. Here's what you need to do peeup. Tomorrow, you're gonna go to you nearest dojo, I don't care what Martial Art, Tae-Kwon do, Karate, Muay Thai, Judo, etc... You're gonna sign up, and your gonna stick to it when till you get a Black Belt. Then you can come back and tell me all punches and kicks, or all sword swings are the same. Alternatively, you could just marathon Chinese Kung-fu films till your eyes bleed.

Ganon. I made a moveset for Ganondorf with him using Ganon's trident.
I'm actually interested in reading what you cooked up. You wouldn't mind posting it would you?

I made this Ganondorf moveset back in 2008/2009, so it sounds really out of date (it was also for a roster I made back then too):

Ganondorf moveset:

Ah, perhaps the one thing that has been irking a lot of Smash fans in terms of movesets was Ganondorf’s. Why did Sakurai think it was a good idea to make the King of Evil a clone of manliest racer around (Captain Falcon). (Answer: Sakurai said that Ganondorf had the same body proportions as Ganondorf, hence why he selected him as a clone of him, and he would not have gotten into Melee if it were not for this). Many people expected Ganondorf to return with an unique moveset in Brawl, however, all Ganondorf returned with was a major nerfing. Sakurai even mentions that many people want Ganondorf to use his sword in his Dojo update. While many people would be happy if Ganondorf got a moveset that actually fit him, there are some people that love the stronger, slower cloned Falcon moveset.

I found a solution to this, while also solving another problem. The answer was Black Shadow. Many people have said that the slow, heavy, powerful Falcon clone moveset was perfect for his arch-nemesis, Black Shadow. By giving Black Shadow a spot on the roster, I was able to give F-Zero the second character it deserved, as well as be able to give Ganondorf an unique moveset that fit him. However, what would be the basis to a decloned Ganondorf moveset? Well, obviously being a powerful sword-user and powerful magic-user in one.

However, there lies a problem with Ganondorf’s swordplay. A lot of the sword styles are being taken up. Marth fights solely with a one-handed sword with a rapier-esque flair to it. Ike fights using a two-handed sword with one hand. Roy is going to be brought back with using a two-handed sword with both hands. Isaac’s sword-style will not be as defined since he will be mixing magic/psychic attacks for his A-moves in combination with his sword. Lip uses a flower-baton (though it is still a disjointed hit box), so the style in which she uses Lip’s Stick differs quite a bit from the sword-wielders. With this in mind, where does Ganondorf stand out?

For Ganondorf’s new moveset, I am planning for him to be mix of whole bunch of different types. Ganondorf’s will not use a sword in his moveset, instead it will be the trident that is usually associated with Ganon. I chose this because a lot of interesting specials and A-moves could be done with the trident as opposed to a sword. The trident give Ganondorf an aspect to him that makes him different than most other sword characters. While some of you may be saying, “Ganondorf never used a sword! That was Ganon!”, I can say that Zelda never used the magic moves she has in Brawl in the games she starred in. Also, it would not be out of place considering that Ganon is Ganondorf’s alterego, and I expect them to have the same knowledge about stuff. Well, despite this perhaps unorthodox decision, I am hoping many of you will love Ganondorf’s new moveset.

Ganondorf regular moves:

A: Ganondorf stabs forward with his trident.

Side A-tilt: Ganondorf does his kick from his old moveset.

Running-A: Ganondorf thrusts the trident in the direction he is running in.

Down-tilt: Ganondorf stabs his trident while laying low (think Marth’s down-A).

Up-tilt: Ganondorf stabs upward with his trident.

A-Air: A dark aura surrounds Ganondorf that harms anyone that is near him (similar to Mewtwo’s A-air from Melee)

Forward-Air: Falcon does his “dark palm” (his neutral A on the ground from the old-moveset) while in the air, but he aims his hand downward.

Backward-Air: Ganondorf thrusts the hilt portion of his trident into his opponent.

Down-Air: Ganondorf does the stomp from his old moveset.

Up-Air: Ganondorf twirls his trident in one of his hands, with his arm extended upward.

Smash-A: Ganondorf charges his trident forward (the prongs have purplish flames on them, while charging up the Smash).

Down-Smash-A: Ganondorf stabs his trident into the ground, and ring of blue appears around him. (this is derived from Four Swords Adventures).

Up-Smash-A: Ganondorf twirls his trident above his like Ganon does in a Link To The Past. The trident has an aura of blue fire surrounding it.

Grabs:

Grab-A: Ganondorf punches the face of the opponent he grabbed.

Grab-forward: Ganondorf punches the opponent forward.

Grab-backward: Ganondorf kicks the opponent backward.

Grab-up: Ganondorf throws the opponent up then stabs him or her with the prongs of his trident.

Grab-down: Ganondorf slams his opponent to the ground then stomps on him or her.

Ganondorf special moves:

Regular-B: Ball of Darkness: This is the infamous ball of energy that Ganondorf has been making since Ocarina of Time. The energy ball itself is powerful, however, any character with a disjointed hitbox can hit the energy ball right back at Ganondorf. However, Ganondorf himself can also hit back the energy ball. Whoever gets hit by the energy will get 20% damage done to them, and it momentarily paralyzed them (like some of Zero Suit Samus’s blaster shots).

Down-B: Lightning Strike: This move is chargeable. Ganondorf raises up his trident, then he lightning starts charging in the prongs of it. It only takes as long as Ike’s Side-B to charge-up. When, it is done charging, Ganondorf has the bottom part of his trident hit the ground, and then steaks of lightning bolts come out of the prongs. This is move cannot be reflected since the lightning directly comes out of the prongs, however, the distance to this attack is limited (less than half the distance of Final Destinations). This is bases off of a similar attack that Ganon had from the Four Swords Adventures.

Side-B: Unholy Fire: Ganondorf twirls his trident like Pit does when he does his side-B. However, getting hit by this attack initially does not do much damage. Soon enough, the prongs have ghostly blue flames emitting from them, Ganondorf throws his trident a little out, and when he does this, a wave of the ghostly blue fire comes out of the trident, and the trident itself gets brought back to Ganondorf’s hand. The fire ring does not do much damage (only about 10%), however, it has a lot of range, and one would need to jump in order to avoid it. Again, this move is based off of an attack Ganon did in the Four Swords Adventures.

Up-B: Demonic Teleport: This is Ganondorf’s recovery move. Ganondorf twirls his trident above his head, which makes him gradually become invisible (think how Ganon would become invisible in ALTTP and FSA), as he’s becoming invisible, aim in the direction you want to teleport to. This is based off of how Ganon would teleport in A Link To The Past and the Four Swords Adventures. This recovery move does no damage aside from the initial twirling of the trident above Ganondorf’s head. It also has excellent vertical and horizontal recovery.

Final Smash: Great Demon King Ganon: Ganondorf’s Final Smash is transforming into his alterego, Ganon. Ganondorf does not become the board from Twilight Princess, and instead becomes the demonic blue pig for ALTTP and FSA (the Ganon I am imagining is bases off of his FSA design). You are able to play as Ganon for a short period of time. While you are Ganon, you are a much larger character (though there is no compromise in speed) and you are also much more powerful. Ganon also has bats of fire that come out of his trident whenever he does a trident twirling attack, that home in your opponents. After about half a minute, Ganon transforms back into Ganondorf.

Ganondorf’s taunts are as follows:
1. Ganondorf spins around and laughs (basically same taunt that he had in Melee and Brawl).
2. Ganondorf laughs and punches in one of his fists (again another taunt he had from Brawl), the trident floats beside him while he is doing this.
3. Ganondorf raises his trident up in the air, and he laughs maniacally, the entire trident then glows an eerily ghostly blue.

Ganondorf’s victory animations are as follows:
1. Ganondorf has a whole bunch of fire bats twirl around him, and he laughs triumphantly.
2. Ganondorf laughs, and then he clenches one of his fists in front of his chest.
3. Ganondorf spins his trident, and he goes “Ha.”

Running animation:
Ganondorf’s running animation is the same as it was in Melee, except now he holds a trident in one of his hands.

Idle animation:

Ganondorf simply holds onto his trident, once in a while the trident glows a bit. Ganondorf will also sometimes twirl the trident around a bit.

End of Ganondorf moveset.

peeup, my man, you have to remember that a casual's #1 priority is wrecking polygonal *** when it comes to fighting games, they aren't going to care or pay enough mind to the moveset itself as long as they can get success out of using those characters

The only people that are going to give a **** are people really into Smash like you and me

Hey manly, what martial art would you suggest for a 5' 10" 110 ish pounds teenager
How old are you?

Tae Kwon Do is a great starting art. It'll teach you the basics and whip you into shape. Just make sure to jump to something else like Kick Boxing or Kyokushin Karate once you get Bigger, Stronger and a Black Belt. You eventually wanna settle on an art that does a lot of sparring so you get plenty of fighting experience. But for starting out, any MA isn't bad, just make sure it's not littered with kiddies, and you do some real life sparring with little gear.

(WTF) Tae Kwon Do (avoid ITF TKD at all costs, it's a waste of time)
Kenpo Karate
Judo
Shotokan Karate
Wing Chun
Capoera
and the like are all good starting arts.

Jeet Kune Do
Krav Maga
Boxing
Kick Boxing
Muay Thai
Kyokushin Karate
Wrestling
Jiu Jutsu
and so on are better for when you have a good 6+ years experience and wanna round off your weaknesses to become a better fighter.

The most important thing is to make sure you complement your training with some weight training at the gym to bulk up. 110lbs is really light bro. If you want I could PM you links to fitness advice so you get a little bulkier. Not only will it attract the ladies. But being bigger, people won't wanna mess with you on appearance alone. You don't even have to get Hulk-huge. Just pack on a few more lbs of muscle and you're set. In fact don't ever worry about "getting too big" like most people do. It's actually impossible without steroids.

I made this Ganondorf moveset back in 2008/2009, so it sounds really out of date (it was also for a roster I made back then too):
I really like some of the ideas you got in here. In fact, giving Ganondorf a Trident is a much more creative idea than a sword imo.

I particularly like these moves:
A: Ganondorf stabs forward with his trident.

Forward-Air: Falcon does his “dark palm” (his neutral A on the ground from the old-moveset) while in the air, but he aims his hand downward.

Down-Air: Ganondorf does the stomp from his old moveset.

This recovery move does no damage aside from the initial twirling of the trident above Ganondorf’s head. It also has excellent vertical and horizontal recovery.
I'm curious as to why you gave him the palm as his FAir, it's a rather interesting move choice. The Up Smash and Forward Throw sound awesome. In fact, I can just picture those moves being used. The NSpec is an obvious choice, but it's a solid one. The UpSpec Teleport is the same thing I came up with in a moveset I made for him. I was thinking of M. Bison, and feel like it would suit Ganondorf very well. Overall a great moveset with many neat ideas. Thanks for sharing.

I wanted to tear peeup's post, but Manly beat me to it. Casuals will probably notice more of how Marth and Ike have the same hair color.

First off, I'm like 100 pounds heavier than you, but there's also the possibility that you're still a teenager and are not finished growing so you may have more width to go. Second, I personally believe it depends on your personality as well as your build. Personally, I have a TKD, Tai-Chi, and Monkey Kung Fu background (the TC helps a lot with learning actually).

Along with what Manly recommended, I'd recommend applied Tai-Chi if you can find it.

And track will really only build muscle in the legs, but I can't say for certain as I never did track. Rather, I've done body weight exercises since I was 16 and martial arts training (again) since I was about 21.

I think it would be perfectly fine if Snake and Sonic were left in the next game, just no further additions. Didn't Sakurai mention something about not wanting to add more 3rd party characters because it'd take away the focus of the series being Nintendo oriented or something like that?

He said he didn't want to overdo it so partially correct. There has also been a hint about a Capcom character for the next Smash by Sakurai (Megaman?)

Technically track builds muscles in the legs, thighs, butt, and abs. It's also an ideal sport to exercise your cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Back at it with the PacMan in Smash 4 deal, huh... We keep touching the same topics, FE characters, 3rd Party, Namco Characters, Pokemon, Zelda Characters, Mario Characters, Saki/Isaac/Shulk, we just keep going in a loop...

This is like Groundhog Day. It's like we're locked in this endless loop of recurring events that have only slight differences among them.

Track is amazing. Sprinting is among the best Cardiovascular exercises there are. Most people neglect the legs, but forget that the Legs are the most important muscle group in the body as they make up for 80% of your strength capacity, and are HALF OF YOUR BODY. I always laugh at the idiots at the gym who are ****huge up top, but have pencil legs. They're like the ****ing Kool-Aid man, Top heavy, you trip them and they tumble over... hahahahaha. Deadlifts and Squats baby, that's where it's at. Compound exercises all-day-erryday. Anyway, if you wanna burn fat quickly, sprints are they way to go... That is, if you can endure them.

It's like playing Donkey Kong; no matter how far you persist, things loop and we all lose at the end anyway. You may save Pauline, but damn it that ape will always win no matter what.

Yeah, those top heavy people are funny to look at.I don't think I was thinking straight when I made my post, but the leg work will get just about everything below the chest. All the jumping I gotta do pretty much covers for that. It's the area above the abs that need work when it comes to me. Maybe I just never gave it much thought since I've worked the lower body for so long.

Running/sprinting also helps strengthen the lower back which is a part of the body which is always prone to injury from even the smallest of strain if you don't have a good posture or sit around all day.

We're in a loop you say? We must be trapped under the effect of The Loop card. Someone get us ouuuut!

So, I agree, lets talk Fire Emblem. Why? Cuz I like Fire Emblem. Do you like FE? I like FE...We can never get enough of FE!

Okay, let's talk FE again:
ManlySpirit will defend the inclusion of Lyn.
Me, Chrono and many others will defend Roy's return.
Chrom is universally agreed as a likely newcomer.
DragonSniper will defend Micaiah's inclusion.
Blah blah blah blah blah... and eventually we get off-topic again, prompting someone to ask what to talk again.

Another FE discussion done!

Jokes aside, I really think that all possible discussions are now saturated.

We've discussed every subject to death already and only when we get new information on the game will we have something new to talk about. Let's see what surprises might wait in this year's E3. Until then, we wait 4 months...

Unfortunately, you're right. That show pushed some things to begin with. At the same time, Gargoyles could easily be Disney's much needed answer to the likes of Korra and other story based cartoons.

Gargoyles was great for its time, but a revival would ultimately ruin it. Like it would for Samurai Jack; without Aku's actor, any new episode at this point would just not be the same. Shame too, as they never wrapped it up.
Better it be good and dead than alive and bad.

So long as Greg Weismen is in control, it shouldn't be a concern.

Ok, serious question. Is it likely to see exclusive characters for the Wii U and 3DS? You see, I was thinking of buying the Wii U over 3DS, but I'm worried that there might be exclusive characters. I don't know how likely it is, but what if there is, for example, an exclusive character for both systems, but they're a different version of the same character (lol sounds weird I know). So like a different appearance and moveset or something. I know there's another fighting game that has this...but I just can't remember the name...urgh...Or am I just being dumb?

Loved Gargoyles btw. It was like, one of my fav cartoons as a kid.

I highly doubt there will be version exclusives. You can't apply Pokemon logic to a fighting game.
