They are rage, brutal, without mercy. But you. You will be worse. Rip and tear, until it is done.

Back in 1993, the pioneer and influencer of the first person shooter genre was released. Doom revolutionized the way we blew up bad guys and at the forefront of it all was one iconic unnamed space marine.

Who the hell is this?

The Doom Marine, The Doom Slayer, Doomguy, the protagonist of the Doom series goes by a lot of names... except an official one. Because he doesn't have one. This mysteriously silent and powerful warrior has an unparalleled hatred for demons and is usually armed to the teeth to kill. Even some of the demon army's most powerful monsters fear the Doomguy. His ruthless and calculated eliminations of the underworld's soldiers have become legends among the demons. The embodiment of anger and determination, Doomguy shows no mercy in his quest towards his ultimate goal: kill every demon in sight. He's not trapped with a bunch of demons, they're trapped with him.

Even though his first release was on the MS-DOS computer system, Doomguy is no stranger to Nintendo consoles either. Making appearances on the SNES, Gameboy and all the way up to the most recent release on the Nintendo Switch. Smash Bros is all about celebrating Nintendo, but also video games and video game history in general. It's time to add a video game icon that redefined an entire genre, still has a legion of fans after 20+ years and has left his mark on the gaming industry.

Also, come on. If Cloud and Bayonetta can get in, so can he.

How the hell would he work in Smash Bros?

My vision for Doomguy in Smash Bros Switch would be the Doom 2016 appearance as a default costume, along with the classic Doom look, maybe a Night Sentinel alternate costume and palette swaps. Plasma rifle, rockets, railgun, grenades, melee attacks and glory kills, point blank Super Shotgun as a smash attack... he's got a move set practically already made for him. I feel like Bayonetta's pistols opened the door for more gun attacks in the Smash Bros series.

It's time to fight like hell and smash the competition.

Support Doomguy!
