Come on guys... He is way too big! It's been proven time and time again, there is no way Sakurai is putting Ridley in Smash... He's even said so himself! So they announced him as a playable character at e3... So what? You guys are seriously grasping for straws now.... Just accept it, Ridley is just too big to be a playable character!

And just like that, the cries of millions echoed across the world as we proved them WRONG!

MWAHAHAHA

Detractors of any character tend to forget character designs are malleable and that ultimately who decides who is playable and who is not are Nintendo and Sakurai. Sure, Ridley is a big character in most of his appearances, but I never understood why people latched on this silly argument. It is even more puzzling considering we have resized characters in Smash for over a decade.

Heck, if they wanted to make a Gundam playable, they would. Or even something ridiculously oversized like the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann mecha. They made someone the size of a bottle cap playable, after all.

Exactly the size issue was always an invalid argument.

People latched onto it because Sakurai himself had said it, and kept latched onto it even with the run-up to ultimate's reveal, silly fools didn't realize that Sakurai once claimed animal crossing was too peaceful during the development of brawl and changed his mind during smash 4 development, so it was possible a similar case could happen with Ridley.

"[Ridley's] about four meters tall. Because of that, it was very hard to actually get him in the game in a working condition, but there was a lot of outcry from fans, especially overseas, so we decided to put him in."

From the treehouse.

So if Ridley was a western favorite, how are the Japanese reacting to his inclusion?

Ya'll missed the part where Sakurai looked ominously into the camera and said "Never ask me for anything again. This is the last Smash! Just let me die in peace!"

So fan demand caused him to change his mind first on Villager, then Pac-Man, and now Ridley.

Waluigi confirmed for Smash 6.
