Reloaded Liftoff! - 6 months to go!

http://www.reloadedlan.com/r3/index.php
Reloaded and its partners are pleased to announce the Reloaded Festival 2008. Reloaded will be the largest gaming event held in Australia since Shafted LAN's Big Day In had a 1000 person attendance in 2003 (www.bigdayin.com).

Reloaded will partner with the South Australian LAN Association and its members, AVCON, VorpalCon and other community groups to deliver an event unparalleled in the history of Australian gaming, as many niche groups come together to unite for the Festival.

Crucial Information
Date: Saturday, January 26th - Sunday, 27th, 2008
Time: 11am Saturday - 7pm Sunday
Cost: $30

There will be no bulk ticket deals at this stage. Please bear in mind that the Monday is a public holiday in Australia as the Australia day falls on the Saturday.

Tickets will go on sale at the end of August, and will be available from multiple sites in Adelaide, including stores across Adelaide, and at events held by Reloaded Partners. Check local guides. A direct debit facility will also be available online.

Competitions

Reloaded will give away $20,000 in cash and a further $50,000 in prizes in competitions ranging from PC tournaments, to console events, to wargaming and card gaming, plus many others, including the Reloaded Digital Art Competition.

$1000 Digital Art Competition
$1000 CS 1.6 5v5

Reloaded and its partner, Motel Adjacent Casino, is also pleased to announce that accomodation can be booked through Reloaded for $40 per head, twin share. This can be reserved by emailing accommodation@reloadedlan.com. Accommodations must be paid for 1 month prior to the event.

The Reloaded 2008 Festival continues to build on the success of previous years, including the sell-out Reloaded 2 event of 2007, which attracted over 500 people to the St Clair Recreation Centre. Pictures and a report of that event can be found at: www.salanning.org.

The Reloaded Festival 2008 is backed by Adam Internet, a South Australian Internet Service Provider. (www.adam.com.au) Major infrastructure support is provided by Valhalla LAN Parties. (www.valhalla.net.au)

Lan Party Central - www.lanpartycentral.com.au
AVCON - www.avcon.org.au - Adelaides premier Anime Convention
Vorpalcon - www.vorpalcon.com - Adelaides premier hosters of D&D, Wargaming and cardgaming events
SA LAN Association - www.salanning.org

Reloaded 3 will feature hopefully the biggest Super Smash Bros Melee comp ever in Aus with an estimation between 100-400 entrants (hard to tell at this stage). We want as many Smashers there as possible and would love for some interstate people to come and join in. SA State rankings matches will also be held at this event.

I'll be there, I just seriously hope the tournament will be run properly if LPC isn't directly involved in it, or at least gives suggestions on rulesets, etc. Requests housing from the 26th to the 28th from any Adelaide guy, like Dave!! Otherwise I'll go hotel! Round trip to Adelaide for $80?! WHAT IN THE SHIZZLE

Whoever is bringing Brawl should also make a tournament for that lol

I just talked to Nick and we're pretty adamant about going. After my exams are finished I'll have heaps of time to save up for this so it should be no problem.

Yeah us LPC people are going on Reloaded forums trying to get the roper rules up. If you're keen on proper rules, then wait till the final announcement. The reloaded admins said that Avcon may very well be hosting it meaning - 3 min time limit, 3 stock, with items. Geeez great, but if we can get support from interstate for -

4 stock, 8 min time limit, no items etc. then that'd help as we're the minority atm and our voice is not heard :(

We are aready planning to have NTSC brawl there and have a mini comp.

I can confirm the rules are going to be tournament style ie: 4 stock, 8 min time limit, no items etc.

The $3000 byob console comps are yet to be confirmed.

You have to realise that of the.. 150-ish people there'll be about 20 good players, at most >_<

The rest will be people who are there for other tournies, such as Halo, or CS... other games in general, and simply sign up for the fun of it.

Either way, it'll be fun, and hopefully will be a chance to play some interstate players... even though I suck at the game.....

And jamage: the smash tourny is going to clash with heaps of things, simply as it'll take so long. (Considering that 32-ish people ones take about 3-5 hours) >_>

Megatron ripped me in half T-T
24 hours is a long time to organise tournaments though, you could fit in a few tournies to not clash with each other, hopefully for zac they happen to be smash and halo

it would be awesome to go to this though, just because its such an enthusiastic video game event XD

hard to find that.

I was at AVCon and to be honest I believe they only went with their strange rules because of the extreme number of people they had to eliminate in 2 hours or so. If you can I strongly urge staff to either have more than 4 TVs or more time to the tournament. I don't think you'll be getting double elim or anything like that either way.

Unless money prevents me (holiday season always stretching my cashflow :s), I'll try to organise a road trip over. Should be fun.

Yeah trust me flying kills driving. Not to mention all the money you waste on food whilst you drive there, or train there. There is also mental health to take into consideration.

Date: January 26th-27th, 2008
Time: 11am Sat - 7pm Sun
Cost: $30 (competitiors), $10 (spectators)
Venue: Adelaide Showground

The Reloaded Festival 2008 will be held on January 26th and 27th 2008. It will be the biggest gaming event in Australian history and the largest LAN Party event ever held in the southern hemisphere. Reloaded Festival 2008 will feature PC and console gaming tournaments, anime displays and competitions, a digital art competition, tabletop war gaming and much more.

Current estimates place attendance between 1200 and 1500 people, over a thousand of who will be attending the LAN gaming events. A major feature of the Reloaded Festival will be the massive CounterStrike: Source competition, with more than 40 five man teams expected to compete for glory - and the $5000 in cash prizes!

The Reloaded 2008 Festival continues to build on the success of previous years, including the sell-out Reloaded 2 event of 2007, which attracted over 500 people to the St Clair Recreation Centre. Pictures and a report of that event can be found at: http://www.salanning.org/viewtopic.php?id=97 .

$5000 Counter Strike Source Competition

Reloaded is pleased to present the Counterstrike Source Competition for 2008. Last Reloaded saw the biggest Counterstrike Tournament ever held in Australia at a LAN event, and this year we expect forty teams to participate.

Due to so many teams participating, the competition will run in two stages.

1. Group Stages – All teams will play off in group stages with the finalists to be determined by how many groups there are. Its likely the top 8 will make it through to the finals. This will be in the evening of day 1.
2. The Finals – 8 teams will play off in a double elim finals series which will be carried on HLTV across the internet and across the venue.
3. The Loser Bracket – all teams eliminated on day 1 will play off in a single elimination comp for a consolation prize.

Pre-registration for this competition is essential.

Rule sets are likely to be fairly standard, and can be expected to be released shortly.

Tag and Testing Procedure

All electrical gear must be tagged and tested prior to being plugged in to the venues power. Reloaded Management has staff who are trained and qualified in this area.

Proof of previous tagging will be required to prevent this, and persons are encouraged to have their gear tagged and tested beforehand to avoid lengthy delays.

Tagging and testing facilities will be available at the door, and during setup for those who wish to take advantage of this.

Qualified Reloaded staff will also be coming around to local gaming events and LAN’s over the next 3 months to tag and test machines. It is highly recommended that you take advantage of this procedure.

Tagging and Testing will be free if you have purchased a Reloaded ticket. It will be $5.00 if you have not. We strongly recommend you purchase a ticket.

If you have any further enquiries or require further information please email the committee at committee@reloadedlan.com.
