For people who are not aware, Smash the Record is a donation Smash tournament/speed run event that takes place in Orlando, Florida that attempts to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Video Game Marathon Playing a Fighting Game. All of the donations to Smash the Record go towards the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In total, Smash the Record donated $13,902 in its first year and $50,637 the following year. No prize money is given to the winners and the competition/environment is much more on the casual side compared to an average tournament.

This year, the dates during which one could register for this event were July 1st through October 11th. But due to to the immense popularity of the event, the Smash the Record team has extended its registration cut-off date to October 18th 11:59pm EST for players/spectators that want to take part in this incredible event.

You can click here to go to the smash.gg page to register for Smash the Record. For any news on the event, make sure you follow the Smash the Record team's Twitter for any updates on the event.
