Recovery strategies

We all know Link possesses a rather poor recovery in this game. What are some good ways to overcome this and avoid being gimped?

Yes, you must have excellent DI in general to recover well with him. You also need to get a feel of how long Link can stay out there before being unable to recover. He has a short amount of air time but knowing exactly how much can make the difference in being gimped in certain situations. You must know your opponent's options as a character so you can choose the right counter attack to survive.
For Example, boomerang works as a safe wall against most characters but ones like Marth can just beat it with Fair. In those cases, you can throw a bomb or start up your Fair before he gets close enough to hit him before he can hit you. Even a Zair can catch an unsuspecting opponent at times due to it range.Fastfalling past them while airdodging and then cancelling the airdodge into a tether can be a great option at times.

There a long list of things that you need to know to recover properly, so much a it can make up a guide. But the most basic things you need to know is to have great DI and momentum cancelling skills and boomerang. That should get you past most characters if you master that.
