Yeah, I've never really played Advance Wars myself, but I did a little research... Andy is like the "face" of AW, despite the numerous games and characters. So Andy is to AW as Marth is to Fire Emblem. Other than that, I can't say I've heard too much about him, but I saw my friend playing the game a few weeks ago. O_O It really is like a futuristic FE...

Hmmm... mm... I'll give Andy a 50%... a coinflip- just because I haven't really learned enough about him to give him a decent debate or a fair review.

I say 40%; Castelvania is one of the biggest and longest running game franchises and Simon is the character most associated with it. He could be a very nice complement to Snake, another third party realistic human character. The only problem I see is that Zero Suit Samus already has a whip, so his moveset may not be incredibly unique.

Castlevania is a popular third party series, and Simon Belmont is the character to choose to rep the series. However, with Snake already in as a Konami character, his chances are somewhat lowered as I don't think it's likely that any company will get more than one rep. It's a shame, because he looks like he'd be an interesting character.

I've seen Zelda, Mario, Earthbound, and basically every franchise that's in smash allready, Fanboys. It's different when it's a third party, and a franchise not allready in, but you're still recognizable. And just because konami gave a character, doesn't mean they want to give more. Plus, more games =/= huge chance. Slightly higher chance but not huge, and what about Castlevania games that are not on a nintendo console? Those mean that konami is not dedicating the series to Nintendo. I don't know much aout the series, but just because you like the guy does not mean he has a huge chance. You gave good points, but they don't hold as much water as you seem to think they do. I give him 35%

Mega Man and Bomberman have more games on nintendo systems then there are games in the whole Castlevania series. I'm very sure Pac-Man and Sonic have been in at least that many games on Nintendo systems as well. I'd say Namco, Sega, Capcom and Hudson are at least as close with Nintendo as Konami, so why another Konami character when there are four companies who just as friendly with Nintendo? Ubisoft and Square have been buddies with them lately too. I'll give simon 15%.

First of all he isn't my fav third party. I only said that 'cause there are a lot of people giving percentage and don't even know the guy that they are voting for.

And when I said he has more third party, I said that he has more EXCLUSIVE for Nintendo games, Mega Man or Pac Man went all consoles.

Lets see now pros:

recognizable game character: yes

long standing on nintendo platform: yup with several games spread out on all different platforms

major franchise series: indeed and Simon is also the main hero of it to boot making him the obvious choice (although I am a Soma fan)

creatable moveset: Just paly any of the games. The whip plus all the secondary weapons available are enough to create a moveset that would be totally different from any other characters. Also, before anyone argues Zsamus there is not enough game footage of her to effectively back up her being a whip user (by which i mean more then a few moves) at this point.

cons:

Third party limited spots: Exact same problem with every single other third party character

Konami: Debateable. Might be a prob since Snake came from there. Or then it could be helpful in that Nintendo already has an opening to negotiate with Konami. Just because Sonic and Megaman are most wanted, doesn't guarentee that Sega and Campcom are going to fork them over for use. People keep acting like its already proven fact that these two will be in, and that no other respectful third party game series have any chance at all for representation. Yeesh.

That is so based on how much you like the character, there is no way he has 95% chance of being in.

Honestly I have to give simon a 10% very low, already stated their will only be a few 3rd party characters. I really dobt they will add two konami characters.

Call me crazy, but I actually think Simon Belmont is in fact one of the more likely third-party candidates to be featured in SSBB, despite the fact that there is already another Konami character (Snake) included in the roster. Remember, the only reason Snake is in there is because Kojima-san begged Sakurai-san to have him included - Konami had nothing (or at most very little) to do with the decision. Also, it should be noted that Sakurai-san NEVER that there would be one character per third-party company, that is nothing more than mere speculation assuming that Sakurai and Co. are selecting characters on an equal opportunity basis, which may, in fact, not be the case. Also, the 1-2 more third party characters figure is NOT a definite number - recall the original quote included a "maybe" - which could mean anything really... In the worst case scenario: Snake's it; and in a more ideal scenario: perhaps as many as five third-party characters will be included (counting Snake, of course).

Now that I got that bit of "Sakurai said..." business behind me, I will now go into what Simon as going for him: Castlevania was one of the earliest third-party franchises to appear on the Famicom (NES), predating even Mega Man; the franchise was instrumental to the success of the NES and early success of the SNES (Nintendo did stumble a bit after '91...) as well as the success of the GBA and DS handheld systems; Unlike other third-party franchises that defected over to SONY during the N64 vs. Playstation days, Castlevania remained considerably loyal to Nintendo; and finally, considering that Simon best represents the Castlevania franchise having the most appearances and considering that most of his adventures have appeared on a Nintendo platform, with exception to Vampire Killer (MSX), Castlevania X68000/Chronicles (Sharp X68000/PSX), and Haunted Castle (Arcade), I would contend that there are very few third-party characters deserving of the SSBB roster spot than my main man Simon Belmont. I give him an 85% chance of making the cut.

Yet again, I direct all of my nominations to Mike Jones.
