Welcome to another Random Tournament Spotlight! As the name of this series implies we will be taking events at random that are entered into our event system be it big or small, on any day of the week, or however unusual and highlight a part of our Smash scene. Last time we met the Project M scene in Wagenningen. This time we'll be looking at a part of Philadelphia and an upcoming Smashfest that marks the opening of a new tournament venue being opened by some serious fans of Smash.
A special edition of The Brotherly Love Tournament series will mark the opening of The Laboratory,which their website describes as "a local tournament venue and gaming lounge located in Hatboro, PA". It's being opened by Brothers Calamity, all of whom are huge fans of the Smash series who attribute it as giving them the strong bonds of friendship they have today. It's aim is to have weekly tournaments while providing a place for gamers to explore the latest competitive games or to indulge in a nostalgic gaming sessions with their retro game collection. But even more importantly they hope to create a place where gamers can meet others and build friendships just like they have.
The first big event to honor its opening is set to have Melee, Smash 4, and Project M while hosting doubles as well for a total of six Smash events and even a small Rivals of Aether tournament! It's expected to have over fifty entrant for Smash 4 including some of the best local talent around. Here's a chance to get to know some of them!
Moosh
Moosh is a longtime smash player, but was not too known until he launched the Brotherly Love Tournament series. He is very friendly to the local players and refers to himself as the old teacher for the new generation of players, but still competes with the best of us.
Burns
Anyone that goes to the locals knows Burns, not because of his skill as a player, but because of his kindness and natural likability to everyone he meets. He's been taking second in command for planing the tournaments since it's launch and is a loved commentator by many.
Flailing Giraffe
Giraffe is from Philly and has been at every Brotherly Love. He reps Rm 401 crew and has been creeping up the rankings. He had an impressive run at our last tournament, beating Eazy who is power ranked third. He mains Diddy Kong, but has a versatile list of others like Palutena and Fox.
Blazing Pasta
Pasta is from Drexel Hill. He has also been a regular since Brotherly Love 3 which was his first tournament ever. Impressively, he took second place and has placed well in every BL since. Blazing Pasta also frequents the Bros. Calamity stream on Twitch and has taken first place in every online viewer tournament.
Summerhays
Summerhays is a crucial part of the The Laboratory family. He is been lovingly dubbed PR manager because of his unfailing commitment to promoting and supporting the stream and the new venue at every turn. He mains Villager and has been known for some brilliant off stage game play. Summerhays is a friendly face you can rely on at every Brotherly Love. He always brings a setup and positive attitude.
Cascade
Cascade is another loyal Brotherly Love regular. He is versatile, proficiently competing in Sm4sh and Melee at every tournament. He mains Greninja and it is obvious that he is passionate about sticking by his character despite not yet placing in a tournament. He is determined and works hard to improve his skills, which is apparent in his focus and dedication to consistency.
MVG Vex
Vex comes straight outta Philly and is ranked highest on the power rankings. Ge's only recently come out to the Brotherly Love tournaments and has already won one. When people hear his name they know they're in for an uphill battle.
This special Smash event will be streamed by Brother Calamity on their Twitch channel and is set to take place on October 10th.
