Question regarding Samus' missiles...

Sorry for the really dumb question, but do Samus' missiles fire out at random (referring to the mini missile, and the large missile or whatever it's called), is there a pattern, or is there a way to control which one fires?

Smash or tilt.

Smash to fire a super missile, tilt to fire a normal missile.

oh god lol randomization would be atrocious.

I used to think it was random back when Melee has just come out. Took me about a year to figure out it was smash/tilt :/
