It is the game I am most proficient at, but I live in North Fort Myers so going out of town for a fest isn't something I do to often. I also plan on focusing on Smash 4 when it's out.

This is my first smash tournament so, while I don't expect to win, I'm at least looking forward to meeting some new people to Smash with and perhaps play other 3DS games with.

Expecting to see some Tampa regular Smashers in this qualifier then, I suppose. This is going to be my first tournament and first time playing against other people, so hopefully I can get some quality feedback and constructive criticism. I'm pretty new to Smash but I don't expect to lose in the first round, unless I'm underestimating the number of pros that will be present...

The official Nintendo rules say the tournament starts at 11:00 a.m., but I have took the liberty of calling the Gamestop already. The rep from their told me they would start sign ups at 9:00 a.m., and to try and get there a little earlier for a better chance at having a spot.

Really? Thanks for sharing, I called them late last week and the particularly unhelpful person I spoke to said "uh, I don't really have any information on the tournament, when you come to pick up your preorder on Oct. 3rd ask about it then"....even though I didn't preorder from them -________-

I know what you mean. I called them the day the tournament was announced. The guy then said to call back in a few days as he wasn't entirely sure due to them just receiving the rules. I'm just gonna get there nice and early to not take any chances lol.

I'll probably just show up in normal clothes. If you see someone standing in line you could introduce yourself as your smash tag. I usually do whenever I go to these types of things. You could also find out their tags if you happen to play them in a match before the tournament.

I'd be open to wearing a "My name is ______" sticker on my shirt, if anyone would prefer that be the system, I wouldn't mind going ahead and getting one. But yeah, if we play each other we'll know our names. I'm gonna sign my tourney handle as V. Katana so nothing new there.

That could work, both ideas. I don't know if I can go, though. As of now I'm scheduled to work Saturday but it all depends if I can find someone to cover my shift. Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow.

I went. Got out first round. because I'm stupid and used Rosalina. I got some good 1v1 practice in with other people though so I'm content.
