Punishing ledge jumps effectively (Buffering Footstools)

So, at high level we have seen that having someone stuck on the ledge is a powerful position of advantage. So much so, that players often forgo traditional offstage edgeguarding in exchange for attempting to convert at the ledge. This is one of the reasons so many characters have trouble with Fox, since his utilt and bair at the ledge are amazing throughout the entire match, racking up damage till it kills.

Anyways, today @TheReflexWonder posted this video in the CCI thread

I feel this tech could be amazingly powerful for Megaman, for two main HUGE reasons.

1) His ledge trump is very dangerous due to bair's power

2) Metal blade setups are known to be scary off of footstools.

Regarding 2, it may take some fudging to figure out what is optimal at this particular location from a footstool, but im sure that we can get something going off of a foostool at the ledge. And megaman with a metal blade at the ledge is already developed and very powerful. This will fit seamlessly into his current ledge game, which is why im so excited about this tech and felt it deserved a focused thread.

If they DI the footstool away to not land on the stage, you can get a free dair on their not invincible regrab

Seriously, top players convert for so much at the ledge. Ledge jump has some of the best frame data for a ledge option, if we can put it out there that we can convert hard off a ledge jump, the opponent will be doing things like ledge stand and ledge roll, which we can punish with extreme prejudice.

Sounds neat. But there are other options besides just jumping up. Most people either neutral get up or drop down and attack with an aerial.

But more ledge tech is always worth exploring. It seems to be much more beneficial than off stage chasing most of the time.

I always relied on Ledgejump as something that is not going to be punished very hard. The frame data is downright silly; if you hit a perfect nair (remember, there is no buffering out of ledgejump except to z-drop) then this tech doesn't even work. I know others who express this sentiment.

From the same positioning, if you notice your footstool won't work, you can probably land a bair, or a zdropped metal blade -> reland -> bair.

This thread isn't about all the other options, but suffice to say they can all be hard punished, it just takes a read.
