However I think he was put into a role that he didn't fit into. I don't think he needs to have a spacie playstyle honestly.

:phone:
that's you opinion and that's fine, but i feel you might be the minority here.

you said that "he doesn't feel like Wolf" which doesn't make sense to me. The pmbr has to make changes and, as we've seen, even completely re-design characters to make they work in a Melee environment. Wolf was never in Melee so as far as i'm concerned, this does feel like wolf.

How they played in vBrawl should be a minor concern.

"Spacie playstyle" is kind of an absurd notion, since Falco and Fox play totally differently.

How about the animation on ganodorf's up and down angled side tilt, the animation just looks weird, leave the hitboxes but make it a roundhouse, sidekick or maybe a spin hook though that might be too fancy for Ganondorf
I'd be fine with multi-animation fancydorf. Though I kind of like the idea of a "stomp" for 'dorf's d-side tilt. Maybe make the spin for the up angled one.

I'm pretty sure he meant it as a term for "Spacie moveset" + "Spacie physics" which we can agree are a trademark of sorts for them.

Ok... I'll try not to drag this out.

I don't like wolf's design. Its that simple. It's not that I don't like his moves or that he's an untraditional spacie, its simply that I feel his playstyle does not fit his character. I don't have too play him to say that I don't like him...

I've watched what sw had some with him and while its impressive, it doesn't feel like wolf. It's just the design and how everything works.... I'm saying in a general sense that the characters personality and demeanor in his canon games is not carried over well.

:phone:
So you never liked Brawl's Wolf in general then am I right?

and 9K, why do you make DDD's up-b seem so bad lol
I have absolutely no trust in my own intuition. Even if I have an obvious opportunity to recover, it's unlikely that I'll actually have the guts to take it. Ever wonder why I never DThrow with D3? Even if I can figure out which options my opponent is trying to cover (or avoid), I simply don't have the confidence to act upon that.

Just another plateau to get over >_>

now i've never played a starfox game with wolf in it but did he ever leave the ship to even get a sense of what his playstyle could be like?

(even though fox and falco didn't leave their ships either but they still got move sets made up)

Well in star fox assault, some of the gameplay took place outside of the cockpit. Game developers model a moveset based off the character's attributes(is he fast, is he slow,is he heavy is he light?). In Fox's case he was modeled to be fast and agile because of his game's history. His fast falling speed comes from his heavy metal legs that make him drop so fast. The rest of his moves were just made up I guess lol

Edit: Not sure if fox had a refelctor in Assault but maybe his shine move came from the arwing, since it was able to reflect enemy projectiles.

The only things we'd be able to take from assult is that 1: He's faster than fox. and 2: a new "rolling" animation. (In assault, to dodge attacks, he just leaned to the side and *wooshed* with streak marks like his side B)

I assume some of the movesets are carried over from Dragon King the fighting game, the smash bros prototype. Especially captain falcons moveset.

It makes sense. Everyone has things they need to work on. Honestly I still can't even wavedash consistently, so I've got a long way to go. But it'll come eventually.

Relevant correction: only in a vacuum.
unless you can alter gravity for one object and not the other, its true outside a vacum too.
edit: air resistance is negligible for objects of the same dimmensions and different densities and weight. "The golf ball bowling ball experiment"
edit: Actualy i cant remember if the densities can be different.

Yeah. I'm definitely going to iron out the kinks in my playstyle, soon. It's not as if I go into every match without a mindset to follow; execution and, more importantly, the lack of (varied) experience are the disadvantages holding me back.

Fox and Falco's special moves are based on the controls of an Arwing.

B - Regular shot (Fox also alludes to having a blaster in SFA but that was after Melee)

B Side - Boost

B up - Take off

B down - Barrel Roll

Wolf was kinda spun off from that.

That's a sign that you're scared of what may happen if you fail to accomplish something when trying to be assertive or adventurous against others. You know what the worst that can happen if that move you're considering to make turns out to be the "wrong move" or they predict it is?

WELL, DO YOU!?

...you get hit and you know what can happen if you try doing whatever you did in that situation from now on. You live and learn.

I know I'm not a big time poster on this site and don't have much online credibility on this kind of stuff, but consider the possibility that the most boring and unproductive playstyle in any game is the one that refuses to try anything new or different. While playing on livestreams, don't feel pressured to do what you've always been doing. I don't care if you win or lose, just SHOW YA MOVES

How is shine a barrel roll? lol
It deflects projectiles.

Exactly. The demo is to come out in a bit over a week, and you're having character debates now of all times?

As in, when it's far too close to the demo for the team to actually even consider changing the character to any real degree, and just days before you'll get to actually play the character yourselves instead of making guesses and using theory to talk about why you don't like them.
The reason I'm doing it now is because I thought wolf was still under heavy construction, but since he was confirmed, I'm a little disappointed in what he is.

Also pardon my brevity,my parents are in town for easter weekend. I'll comment in now elaborate terms on Monday.

Why don't you elaborate more 2 Mondays from now, when you've had a chance to actually play Wolf?

Because jcaesar, I don't agree with the design. I'm not saying the character is bad... I don't understand how me playing will change that I don't like his design.............

TBH

SUCKS.

You don't like his design? GET THE **** OVER IT.

People that HAVE played Wolf DO like his design. You don't like it now and STILL don't like it in 2 weeks? NOBODY CARES.

I don't like a lot of things. People however DO like these things. These things don't change because those people like it and I get the **** out of their business.

I suggest you do the same. That goes for the rest of you.

If in 2+ weeks, you have some CONSTRUCTIVE points, great. OTHERWISE.....

I'm sure you dragging on a pointless argument for like 5 more pages than it had to after it was already over wasn't rude either.

Here's some advice, then: Don't use Wolf.

If you don't like a particular character's design, then don't use them. You're in the minority of this community, and talking out of your *** isn't helping your argument, either.

Whatever, thread, don't up date.

Give it up, PurDi. I used to comment and complain on Link's design constantly (and stupidly) on this thread about a year a go. No one likes it when someone makes a big deal over something that just about every other concern the dev team has at the moment dwarfs. I learned that the hard way :(

Btw I'm completely content with whatever yall want to do with Link so long as he doesn't suck anymore :p
