Hi DK Crew,

I've learned a lot watching all of your vids, and now that I am feeling a little more confident I'd like to share some of my own. I'm posting two replays from friendlies on Anther's Ladder with a highly ranked peach main on that site. I'm hoping both to share the things that worked for me while requesting criticism on the things that didn't. I hope you enjoy the gameplay.

Don't play on Sheikville is my advice. A small stage is best for those with the best neutral games and frame data.

Also, use ground pound.

Lol u played Twi. He's the saltiest peach I've ever played. I beat him a while back.

In all seriousness, you, like every other DK, has tendency to try and land really close to the player (or land predictably). Try mixing it up with FF Nair or something that's not bair. In the MU specific, utilt is your best bet to block all nonsense in the air. Also, DKs dash and standing grab are kinda booty, so try pivot grabs every once in a while.

Silent Assasin Silent Assasin : You seemed to really struggle with the koopalings in this one. Dash attack is a great tool to use against it. If you're at long range then you can easily grab it without being punished, and at close range you grab it, hit BJ and still have the projectile to follow up with. The middle range is where it can be a problem to dash attack, since he can shield and punish.

Another thing you should be using more of is up tilt. There were lots of times when he was above you trying to land and you failed to capitalise. Remember that up tilt is invincible at the top of is hand so can't be challenged, plus it combos into itself and can set up for airdodge reads into up smash/f smash etc.

Your neutral game seemed to focus a bit too much on charging and using Giant Punch. This was often at the expense of stage control, which let him fire off a ton of projectiles and keep you on the defensive most of the match. It might be better to just charge punch when you can do it without having to back yourself into a corner, and instead focus on a slightly more aggressive neutral with spaced bairs or downtilts.

And most importantly: where are the Ding Dongs???

Keep it up though!

Ok! Understood. Thanks guys! I need to:
1. Down tilt/ dash attack mechakoopas 2. ding dong correctly 3. Get more aggressive with DK's back air and downtilt 4. Don't charge punch so much 5. Use more up tilt 6. Space the ground pound more

This is great! I will likely play this player again in upcoming weeks so this was useful.

Hey everyone, I picked up Donkey Kong in May. This past weekly in Austin I went Wii Fit Trainer in all of winners and Donkey Kong in all of losers, making it to Hakii (a top Lucas player) and losing pretty badly. Here's the video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T09GzivpejI

I win game 1 vs. his well-practiced Marth, but I get destroyed game 2 and switch to R.O.B. game 3 (don't bother watching that game lol). Can anyone please critique my DK, and give me some advice on what to do vs. Lucas? I can't seem to avoid getting grabbed or n-aired. I would also like some advice against Robin; it's a similar situation (can't really move in that MU).

In addition I also have a video of me playing XL-XCVii (New England Cloud player, I think he's top 10 there):

A critique of my play here as well as advice on what to do vs. Cloud would be very much appreciated.
