Problems with USD and UKD formatting

I'm working with a PAL copy of the game making my own wacky little build complete with visual changes, but i notice that changing a USD's file extension to UKD to work with pal simply doesn't work. Is there any kind of converter program or anything to help with this, or should i start saving my changes and moving over to an ntsc version? :( I've made a lot of work right now so preferably i would like not to.
