Pokken Fighters: It's an actual thing now!

A while back I made a thread wondering about a Pokemon-centric fighting game and if Serebii is right on the money, tradmarks have been filed for something called Pokeken. Considering 'ken' is Japanese for fist (TekKEN, KEN Masters, FIST of the North Star/Hokuto no KEN) and that mysterious high def footage of Blaziken and Lucario (both fighting types) we may have a Pokemon fighting game for the WiiU in development.

It's been announced for arcades but considering that Street Fighter 4 started off in the Japanese arcades too we can expect it be ported. After all trademarks were filed internationally.

Really? That is too bad. They should use Pokémon of any type, as long as it is human-shaped.

The only fighting-types I like at all are Hariyama and Gallade. Bleh. If there are only fighting-types in it, I really doubt I'll be interested...

Let's start compling the list of Fighting types we want.

Here's the full list of fighting types. 46 in total (43 minus Mega Mewtwo, Mega Lopunnyand Prouette Meloetta)

I'm hoping for Chesnaught, Hawlucha and Meinshao.

I think every fighting type will be in here except for the legendaries, Terrakion, Virizion, Cobalion and Mega Mewtwo X, however, mewtwo would be cool and is standing like human fighter so it could be working.

I can see lots of potential in this, bit I'm hoping it'll come outside of Japan and not only on Arcade. THIS is what the Wii U could really need right now.

What they could do is have an entrance animation for all of them, like in Smash, and Meloetta's entrance would be her singing then twirling into Pirouette Form, and Lopunny's entrance would have the whole Mega Evolution scene.

My dream roster, assuming the "Fighting-types only" thing is complete ********, which it should be. Bamco's been getting hands-on experience with Smash 4, they should at least know that the key to Nintendo rosters is variance. Smeargle and Wobbuffet and Vespiquen alone carry a moveset far and away different than the slew of Fighting types.

I'm really curious to see what console exclusive features they will add to flesh out the single-player experience, as well as how they will fuse Pokémon gameplay elements into the game.

So guys, I checked back on the Fighting only thing and it turns out only one person has said that, although he translated from the Japanese stream it could have been a mistranslation.

I think what's more likely is that it's mostly Fighting types with only a small few who are not.

Not a Pokemon fan but I just want to say this will get ported to Wii U 100 percent. Bandai Namco fighters always get released to arcades first, it's common with the genre. The console port will be brought to the west.

It's looking great so far. If it plays like Tekken, then we're in business. Tekken Tag is one of my favorite games, and Yoshimitsu is one of my favorite video game characters

I can't see Zoroark's traditional gimmick of disguising itself working out all that well, but it still has a lot of other unique abilities, and could use illusions in other ways: fake attacks, feining getting hit, appearing behind the opponent, etc.

It would actually be hilarious to see characters like Jynx and Mr. mime in a game like this. I could only imagine their movesets. I'd guess that pokemon with mega evolutions are more likely to be included than pokemon without them. Garchomp is one of my most expected, but not my most wanted expectation.

Oh, and some Tekken characters might influence the moves of pokemon, like Gallade (or another blade wielding pokemon) could be inspired by yoshimitsus moveset (Or Alisa's chainsaws) and Lopunny could take inspiration from Lili. Maybe Snorlax as Ganryu?

I don't mind an all fighting type roster because there are plenty of fighting types that I enjoy (Fighting as Hitmonlee, Toxicroak, Breloom, and/or Primeape would be great) though there are plenty of pokemon I'd want to see outside of the fighting type cast as well...

There's an actual pokemon fighting out there (fanmade) where you can battle as snorlax, gengar and a few other non-fighting types.

It would be best if Namco just took the most suitable pokemon. AND, i hope they'll ignore the typing advances. So that a blaziken wouldn't be hit harder because he's fighting a poliwrath or something.
