I was wondering if any one knows the story behind the first smash bros like a rumor i heard is that it was planed for the super nintendo can anyone tell me more i just joined and posted in the meet and greet section i was curious and been looking for this info for a while thanks for any info you might share

I'll answer, even: Super Smash Bros. was originaly a Mario fighting game. At some point, someone added Kirby as a secret character. Sakurai liked the idea of a Nintendo history meseum featuring a cast of all-stars. Originally, the cast was 16 strong, featuring Mario, Link, Samus, Kirby, Pikachu, Fox, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, Ness, Yoshi, King Dedede, Bowser, Marth, and Sigurd. However, due to time and money issues, only the first twleve were in the final product, relesed in 1999.
