We've seen it before. And now it looks like they're done and just waiting to release. What are th odds that someone will get their hands on it early?

Well, if Sakurai is anything like Willy Wonka, he has MK's everywhere, guarding the sacred treasure.

I tried to get in to the factory that was mass producing them and I was attacked by Kirby's using taunt... I shall never return

Well, it is possible that they will ship it to game stores before the release date (SMG style) and an EB games employee will steal a copy and then... don't get any ideas.

If it is being mass produced, it does seem like some lowly grunt worker could swipe one. It would mean so much to the internet.

Zomg Pirates!!!! Tetra Confirmed Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
People really, really need to stop doing this.

And does it really matter if this gets pirated? If it does we'll probably get to know it, if it doesn't, well, too bad. Pirating is for those who are too stupid to wait for a game that'll be released in a short while anyway, I just don't see the point.

Stopped reading when I reached here. Most people who are against piracy are either.

1)Poor and can't afford the modchip/other things needed.
2)Know nothing about it.
3)Big fanboys that love the game company sooooooo much, they would give every dollar just because they're that sucked in.

Then thank goodness for the ignorant/poor/fanboys. The biggest problem with piracy is that it will, if people stopped being ignorant/poor/fanboys then we wouldn't have games anymore.

You've all heard the argument of piracy = stealing. But few look beyond that. Piracy puts companies out of business. If you steal, the company loses money, and if enough people steal the game(and thus the money) than the company goes out of business. The end result is no more games.

this game will sell so much anyway, that piracy will just be very little of their problems...seriously. of all the wii's in the world, how many do you think are modded? besides, its pretty hard for an average joe to copy a wii game (ive read several forums and its not as easy as just doing disc to disc copy).

1)poor??, lol the modchip it's cheaper than a game
2) lol again, you don't know nothing about it, or can you do a modchip yourself??, then i'll sut up
3) That's for everything y'know, i preffer an original game, cos when you buy pirated disc, or downloaded it, you don't feel like finishing it.

And other thing, the biggest part of the ones that play with pirated games, are casual gamers.

With SMG, the guy stole the demo, (which was the full version with a time limit), but he removed the time limit and posted it on the internet.

Don't forget those hedgehogs and mercenaries. They team together-one runs you over, the other asks for the info, and then continues to slit your throat!

Wrong. There was never an SMG demo. All Wii kiosk units have a hardware time limit. The copy of Super Mario Galaxy he had was a legit, full version. Wii games cannot be edited (except for the region as far as I know).

It will almost certainly happen. It seems like the street date is broken for almost all the AAA titles that come out recently. Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect, and Super Mario Galaxy were all acquired early and made their way onto the internet within 24 hours. Brawl is the biggest Wii game to date, so I can't imaging that it will really stay locked up until the 24th.

If you can copy it to a hard drive and re-burn it you can edit it. Period.

If someone was skilled enough they could mod Mario Galaxy with custom levels. There's nothing truly stopping them.

Nintendo should really have a service to download Wii games too. The USB ports could connect to an external hard disk which would store the game, since they will be several gigs.

Since they don't, I really don't see anything wrong with downloading the game as long as you actually buy it within a few weeks. It would be a lot easier to get the game on release day or even before, since things can get hectic around that time.

It's their own fault when companies charge $1000+ for a product that shouldn't cost that much in the first place (referring mostly to Adobe, Autodesk, etc here. and yes, i'm being half sarcastic here as well.)

All sarcasm aside, I can't blame people that DO pirate for doing it. Sometimes the price tags these companies try to get away with are insane and make no sense. Consequently, I don't -in any way- feel bad for the company when they get their products pirated.

In the case of games though, I don't really see a need for people to pirate. They don't cost too much (when they start charging $70 for a REGULAR game then I'll rethink) and if it's a game like Brawl then it's well worth the wait to have the full official version.

I'm not saying someone can't mod Super Mario Galaxy and add custom levels. I'm saying that once edited, the game cannot be played on any retail Wii. You would have to own some type of dev unit, and even then, it may not accept edited retail games.

Considering one can't play pirated Wii games with a retail Wii, this point is moot anyhow.

I don't think "skilled enough" is the word for it, really >_> It'd more than likely take plenty of years just to figure out how to add a Goomba to the first area.

...

Let me clarify this.

A retail unmodded Wii can play retail Wii and Gamecube games.

A retail modded Wii can play retail and burned Wii and Gamecube games.

A retail Wii (modded or not) cannot play any modified Wii game (aside from region modifications).

An easier way to explain what I mean is to imagine a Wii game as a bag of resources and code, all tied up perfectly and signed all over. You cannot open the bag, change its contents, then close it again without messing up all the signatures on the bag. No retail Wii will run any Wii software that isn't perfectly sealed up and signed.

No consumer or modder can digitally sign Wii software.

Oh right. I forgot about the checksumming and encryption that they used for Wii games

People will always pirate games. It doesn't matter what system/game/year it is. I have already heard about websites hosting wii download torrents. Also, people who pirate aren't really poor. They are just cheap, and don't want to put cash into a game when they find it's so easy for them to simply download it and delete it afterwards. Sad thing is, there's nearly 1% chance of you ever being caught pirating. And that 1% chance comes from hosting/sharing your files with everyone on the internet, which then Feds start targeting you.

Also, I wouldn't call them stupid either. I want to see you hack a system so you can run homebrew/commercial/emulator on your Nintendo Wii.

As long as there is dishonest people in the world, pirates will always exist.

This isn't a debate thread about pirating. While I'm sure you're all desperate to pull out all your rationalizations, insults, and bizarre circular arguments, let's please not turn it into one.

Actually, it somewhat is a debate about pirating. The title reads " Pirated Brawl", so it's only natural the discussion leads somewhere about the generalizing of pirates. The topic creator doesn't give much input on the topic anyway besides " do you think they will get it early".

That's all the OP is asking, then. That's not very much of a reason to turn this into a not-at-all-Brawl-related discussion on My Reasons Why Piracy Is/Isn't Really A-OK After All.

For all we know OP could of wanted us to branch off and talk about pirating brawl, which I did.

I gave my reasons on the "odds" of someone likely to pirate brawl. Which is a discussion, and isn't off-topic.

Ugh, I dont steal from people because it is wrong... If I planned to steal something, I would make it worth it and steal something huge... but that would be 'hurting' someone else...

Also, I don't wana have to tell people... "Yeah I stole Brawl". I would sound like a low life. For you people that DO pirate games... you might as well go rob a bank.

And yeah, I'm sure at least ONE employee of a store is gona snag a copy of Brawl early, play it, and perhaps even return it after playing it, after all some gamestores allow employees to play games before they are released.

Pirated DVDs are hilarious... the text on the movie cover is always full of horrible typos... to the point where it is sometimes unreadable... (if it's even about the right movie XD)

and you're usually better off turning off subtitles since they will just confuse you more...

I wouldn't want to play brawl with bad text :( ... though the game is probably already done so that doesn't matter...

And I'd play it regardless ;)
