Pichu's Down Special properties (No b-reverse?)

So I have been playing a lot of Pichu lately... but for some reason I seem to have a lot of trouble momentum cancelling it offstage the way you normally would with pikachu... Moreover, I have not once been able to change my aerial momentum with Pichu when I b-reverse this move. Pichu will turn around but conserve forward momentum, unlike Pikachu who's momentum shifts allowing him to regain the stage faster.

Am I the only one noticing this? Or am I doing something wrong. I'm able to do all the usual stuff with Pikachu...

You can b-reverse the momentum so that he pops slightly back and doesnt get hit by / fly through the lightning. Its just peculiar timing that feels kinda 'quick' vs what id expect normally. I have trouble doing it consistently but it def is a thing.
