Patch 1.1.6 incoming!

If you haven't read yet (http://smashboards.com/threads/super-smash-bros-for-3ds-wii-u-patch-1-1-6-incoming.436788/), Nintendo of Japan annouced we'll be getting patch 1.1.6 sometime this month. It's gonna be pretty big, too (61 MB for WiiU and 325 MB for 3DS--stage ports, +new music, maybe?) if Nintendo has even bothered to mention it, considering they didn't really do that for previous non-DLC patches. Lucas hasn't gotten much in recent patches after the nair buff (or nerf, depending on how you see it), so maybe this time around we'll see our momma's boy get a bit of love from the Big N. My hopes are:
  • if they're going to fix the way fair is programmed (where they effed up the staling of the move after frame 10) that they make it at least auto-cancel before frame 34. Nair auto-cancel under 34 would also be amazing, but I'm not holding my breath for that, at all.
  • knockback growth reduction on frame 26 of nair to somewhere under 120 or so.
  • some character attribute buffs (a la Lucario and Mewtwo), mainly lower gravity (maybe from 0.09 to like 0.08) so we can have longer air time without changing his falling speed. If individual auto-cancels aren't going to be altered, then I'd want for him to have at least 35 frames of air time (which gives us nair, which is the most important aerial we have).
  • two extra frames of invincibility on up smash, although they'd also have to push the charge frame forward slightly, then apply FrameSpeedMultipliers on start-up and after frame 6 to keep the overall duration the same, so this one's basically a pipe dream.
  • jabs 1 and 2 interruptible as soon as frame 18. It still doesn't guarantee anything off of jab cancels, but those two extra frames can be crucial considering how little hitstun his jabs actually cause. This one is mainly so that jab isn't directly out-classed by down tilt, although the buff would still be pretty marginal.
  • down smash to be able to hit the same target more than once, but that one is clearly intentional given they added a data bit to the attack specifically to keep it from doing so. And Lucas's down smash is the only instance in the game where said data bit happens.
  • and, oh yeah, f-smash to be reflective 9-21, instead of 10-19. 9-21 would be right after the charge frame through the last frame where the action lines of the swing are visible.
I dunno whether to be excited or apprehensive for this patch, though. I really don't want them to fix fair, but they clearly made a mistake programming the data for it, which sucks because what they most likely intended (sweetspot 9-10, sourspot 9-12, going from 9% to 6% 11-12) makes the move a lot worse in terms of being able to wall out non-disjoints. And Lucas already has a problem with range, so this would effectively remove what little range he has in the air to zair/PK Fire and 2 sweetspot frames of fair.

Anyway, what are your hopes and predictions for patch 1.1.6?

Hopes for 1.1.6 Lucas

- UAir as a larger hitbox, has more active frames and is frame 6
- FAir auto cancels from short hop, has slightly longer reach and is frame 7
- 2x SDI multiplier on NAir reduced and can auto cancel from short hop
- DAir has decreased start up (not sure what though) and better auto cancel frames
- Up Smash has more invincibility frames, and can pull opponents from the ledge into the sweet spot
- Up Smash stronger (either strongest in game or second strongest)
- Down Smash can hit multiple times
- PK Thunder has less end lag

Not gonna get my hopes up, since I've been disappointed in the past, but we'll have to wait and see...

That Up air looks beautiful. Those ideas are a general collection of what I've seen other people say on discord and here, along with what was removed from brawl. Hopefully this patch will be a good one for Lucas players

Up-air needs fixing, N-air SDI, Having Up-smash work properly with people hanging on the ledge and having B-air auto-cancel on 1-14 would fix almost all problems Lucas has imo. Anything else is just luxury that would be nice but isn't 100 needed.

Can we have Brawl nair back? That move would be broken in Smash 4 with the decreased efficiency of SDI.

Of all the reasons to dislike a Greninja match, that is one of the last I would think of.

I just want down smash fixed. After that, up smash fixed. After that, a short hop autocancel aerial. After that, up air fixed. I'm not too greedy. They fixed Samus eventually.

- Dtilt tipper trips

- Fsmash a bit stronger (~120/~110 -> ~115/~105)
- change angle of fastest PKT2 to 45 deg or steeper
- stop making PKT2 bounce off of ledges when you hit the top part
- Bair kills earlier (~170 -> ~150)

My predictions:
-Nerfs:
  • 43 → 40 BKB on frames 20-21 of down smash.
  • They fix fair's programming to what they most likely intended originally (sweetspot 9-10, 9% sourspot 9-10, 6% sourspot 11-12) without giving us a good auto-cancel.
  • Up air gets a damage reduction of 0.5% to 1.0%. They've been nerfing a lot of throw confirms recently, so it makes sense they'd nerf one as free as the PK Hoo Ha. Maybe throw in an angle change in there to boot. Something like 80° → 78° or lower to make it easier to DI.
  • 51 → 58 KBG or greater for down throw. This would possibly be the worst nerf they could give Lucas, imo.
-Buffs:
  • 0.5% damage increase to jab 2.
  • 0.5% damage increase to sourspot f-tilt.
  • 0.5% damage increase to frames 7-10 of up tilt.
  • 88 → 90 KGB on f-smash.
  • Y=5.0 → Y=2.0 on the shockwave hitboxes of up smash, if they're feeling generous.
  • 77 → 80 KBG on up smash (I feel like I'm reaching here).
Sakurai giveth, and Sakurai taketh away (yes, I know he's not in charge of balance patches).

So, apparently some modders got an early hold of the patch 1.1.6 files and according to them Bayonetta is the only character that was changed.

Kind of disappointing, but I guess I'll take it over any Lucas nerfs. A nerfed Bayo (and a lot of her changes are confirmed nerfs) is an indirect buff, anyway. Still, though, we'll see if their claims hold true once the patch drops and there's more sets of eyes poring through the data.

  • Down tilt: hitbox size 3.5 → 2.8 (7.0 → 5.6)
  • F-air 1: 3.8% → 3.0% damage
  • F-air 2: 2.8% → 2.2% damage
  • F-air 3: 82 → 68 KBG
  • F-air 3 auto-cancel: starting on frame 32 → starting on some later frame (not exactly sure).
  • D-air landing hitbox: 140 → 135 KBG
  • After Burner Kick 7-9: 40 → 50 KBG
  • After Burner Kick 10-14: 30 → 38 KBG
  • After Burner Kick 15-19: 100 → 112 KBG
  • After Burner Kick: 1.0 → 2.0 SDI
  • After Burner Kick (dive kick): 8.0% → 6.5% damage
  • After Burner Kick (dive kick): 80° → 60° (this is huge)
  • After Burner Kick (dive kick): hitbox size 6.5 → 4.5 (13.0 → 9.0)
  • After Burner Kick (dive kick): 1.0 → 2.0 SDI
  • After Burner Kick (dive kick landing): 1.0 → 2.0 SDI
  • Witch Twist frame 4: 1.0 → 2.0 SDI
  • Witch Twist 8-11: 160 FKB/100 KBG → 140 FKB/97 KBG (this sounds more like a buff...?)
  • Witch Twist 8-11: hitbox size 8.0 → 7.0 (16.0 → 14.0)
  • Witch Twist 8-11, lower hitbox: Y=24 → Y=21 (hitbox placed lower)
  • Witch Twist 8-11: 1.0 → 2.0 SDI
  • Witch Twist 12-16: hitbox size 8.0 → 7.0 (16.0 → 14.0)
  • Witch Twist 12-16, lower hitbox: Y=24 → Y=21
  • Witch Twist 12-16: 1.0 → 2.0 SDI
  • Witch Twist 17-22, upper hitbox: 160 → 135 FKB

  • Witch Twist 24-25: hitbox size 9.0 → 8.5 (18.0 → 17.0)
  • Witch Twist 24-25 unknown parameter: either 32 → 25, or 20 → 19 (I have no idea what this is, or if the values are in hexadecimal or decimal). EDIT: Turns out this is the Y position of the hitbox. So the change was Y=20.0 → 19.0.

Lmao I know. I didn't even realize the patch notes discussion was open when I posted that. There weren't any changes to Lucas, so this entire thread is completely pointless.

I mean, I'm good as long as Lucas doesn't get nerfed. I wouldn't mind a surprise buff, though.
