It's here! The re-release of Xane's rip of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl soundtrack. This version has songs with MP3 tags taken straight from Brawl's Sound Test, including correct song titles, original game reference, remix composer, and more. It also has album artwork for every individual category, compressed and more detailed categories, completely redone file names, songs that were cropped due to poor loop transitions, and extended versions of songs that were previously cut to make looped versions for Brawl.

There are 297 songs spread across 22 albums, with a total running time of over 14 hours, and a little bit over 1GB in file size. The songs are ordered within their respective albums chronologically, according to how old their original game references are (ex: Super Mario Bros. songs come before Mario Sunshine songs). The albums are split up in order according to how Brawl often places the different game series in a heirarchy (displayed by the songs' original locations on the Brawl disc, and by Brawl's sound test).


To get an idea for how the MP3 tags are laid out, here are the different tags included and what's included inside of them:

File names are laid out like so, within their respective album folder:

This release also features many songs that were either cut, or extended to offer a better listening experience. Some songs were just plain not meant to loop very well, such as Ai no Uta (it's just a normal song that ends normally... then it begins again for its loop), and some songs can just drag on for way too long when looped, such as the previous Main Theme of Metroid that extended past 7 and a half minutes. These songs have been cropped to either have non-looping endings (Ai no Uta just finishes when the actual song finishes playing once), or they have been cropped to only play through once, and it fades out during the second loop's beginning.

Some songs were cut down by Brawl to put them into a looping form, mostly songs coming from other games, such as a lot of the Sonic songs (like Live & Learn and Open Your Heart). I have included extended versions of these songs from my own collection of soundtracks so that you can fully enjoy these tracks without the rather abrupt loops that the Brawl versions contained.

As for the looped vs. original, if they're the same track I'd prefer the full version, but if the songs have a new arrangement in Brawl, I'd take the Brawl version.

The soundtrack is a little bit over a gig, so MediaFire would work. However, is MediaFire free to upload to?

And yeah, if it was a remix for Brawl I would include that version without question. I'm just talking about songs that were ported into Brawl with no remix or anything, but were chopped up into a loopable form (like some of the Sonic songs).

Ok, it looks like FileFront allows free uploads for files up to 600MB large (so I can easily split the soundtrack into two pieces like Xane did). I should be able to do something similar with MegaUpload as well. I might do MegaUpload and Rapidshare (assuming Rapidshare works like MegaUpload), so that if one encounters bandwidth limits at one site, they can download the second piece on the other site without waiting 24 hours. FileFront should work pretty good though.

All I've got left to do is crop a few more songs and fix all of the file names for the songs (which might take a little while...).

But seriously people, I recommend everyone download it if you've got a music collection and like Brawl's soundtrack. A lot of great songs on it, and now you don't have to worry about it polluting your music library by songs being filed all over the place due to a lack of mp3 tags. I even recommend it to people who have already previously downloaded the soundtrack.

I don't get how to put them onto an SD card, i'm using a guide i found on google, but it seems to talk nonsenseical gibberish, any help? Do I just slap them in the pf/sound folder?


nvm After some searching I see I'll have to convert them all to brstm format, screw that, I'll stick with textures, download and paste, no other needed effort, I'll just go play the music on my computer and turn Brawls off >.>

Anyways, the original post has been updated with a Mediafire link and a torrent. At Mediafire the individual folders of the entire soundtrack have been uploaded so it's possible to download single songs/artwork, or bulk download the folders. A torrent is up as well where you could do the same: download individual files or bulk download the whole thing in a torrent client (which might be easier to manage the download). There are some seeds/peers already and you should get good speeds.

Torrent link unavailable for some reason. New one? You can't download bulk folders in mediafire anymore without premium. Maybe a .zip file. also megaupload is not a website anymore?
