Hey so I have been looking for a tournament in the Seattle area, Im going to be visiting for 9 days (23rd through the 31st of August) and i wanted to know if there is going to be any Tournaments throughout those days. Ive been looking and haven't found any sadly if you know of a tournament around that time can you please let me know, Thanks.
Our Facebook group should have announcements for weeklies in that range--check out "Pacific Northwest Smash 4" on there.

I use a different control scheme then the normal one, will I be able to make my own control scheme before a competition?

Is the tournament still on for this Friday? The last two weeks it has changed to the next week the day before the tournament.

We were off last week because our venue needed the space for PAX. We then tried to shift our schedule to the following week (9/8) but couldn't get the green light from GameWorks, so I had to take that tentative occurrence down. I definitely should have made a reminder announcement about the PAX cancellation here--that's my bad, and I apologize for the confusion.

We will be back to our usual schedule--every other Friday--starting this week on 9/15. We hope to see you all there!

This week, we're running our first official Singles Focus--just Singles, but with all the bells and whistles you could ask for. Bracket will start and end a bit earlier than normal, and we'll try to use the extra time for best-of-five sets in Top 8. We may play around with times at future Singles Focus nights. For now, though, enjoy!

I wouldn't be able to arrive until my be 7 pm. Is that too late to participate?
For this Friday, yes. For most of our events, no--you should be able to scrape by with that.

I plan on attending on the 27th. Mind if I bring a setup and rep Puyo Puyo Tetris? Game needs more of a scene imo and I can't go to the fight night that I would otherwise bring it to. My idea is that I bring a Smash Wii U setup and allow it to be used for singles, and during doubles I either run Puyo Tetris friendlies on it (Wii U ver, I can supply controllers) or a small free side bracket. Is that a possibility? I'm dying to have any semblance of a scene for this game around here. I'd also be down to play in Smash 4 singles.

Our free side bracket this week is inspired by Mario's latest globetrotting excursion. Travel all around the Smash world to some of the most exciting stages the Wii U version has to offer in Super Stage Odyssey!

Sorry, we don't really have the floor space or the setups to accommodate something like that in addition to our own brackets. We hope to see you out all the same!

Sure thing! I'll still be bringing a setup, and it will be available for the entirety of the brackets. During friendlies, if enough people want to, could I switch my setup to Puyo, or should I keep it to Smash 4 even after bracket?

EDIT: ****. My bad. There's no such thing as "after bracket". ****.

Reminders for TONIGHT, the eve of Port Priority 2:

1. It's Singles Focus--bracket starts right at 6:30 PM! Message me if you're concerned you'll be a few minutes late.

2. $10 venue this time to help fund a replacement laptop for Deniz.

3. Since Gyromight can't haul the GameWorks monitors off for Port Priority setup until Orbitar ends, we're making life a little easier for him by only running best of 5 in top 3 (Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals).

We'll have plenty of traveling talent present tonight, so please bring setups. See you all there!

GameWorks has booked all of our potential spaces this Friday, so we won't be having Orbitar this week. We're bummed about this too, especially since we were off for a bit due to the holidays...but we'll be back in action with Singles, Doubles, and all the winter cheer you could ask for on 12/22.

Good news: To somewhat make up for missing Orbitar this week, we'll be streaming WWA's Fall 2017 PR reveal this Friday at 8:00 PM PT ontwitch.tv/SatelliteSmash. Tune in for the results of one of our region's most competitive seasons ever (and maybe some post-reveal games)!

From Tacoma, you can take I-5 north straight into downtown Seattle, then follow signs for the Washington State Convention Center (very close to our venue).

Based on the feedback we've seen over the past few days, Orbitar will now adopt the Singles Focus format as its standard moving forward in order to reliably finish brackets before GameWorks' 10:00 rule kicks in. This means events will run Singles--and only Singles--starting at 6:30 sharp and will feature bo5 sets in Top 8 whenever time permits. We may run other brackets for special occasions, but those will be rare exceptions announced well in advance.

Fans of Doubles and side brackets, worry not--TOs from around the scene have been coordinating to ensure these events are represented elsewhere. Check the Western Washington Smash 4 Facebook page for more on this in the future.

As scenes change, so do their needs--and it's our job to meet them! Thanks for helping us do so. See you all on 4/6 for Orbitar 44!

Orbitar 46 (Pre-Port Priority) is coming up on 5/4! YOU MUST PREREGISTER ONLINE TO ENTER. Entrance fees will be collected (CASH ONLY) at the door. Because this falls the day before Port Priority 3, we'll have a much bigger bracket than usual. Preregistration lets us seed in advance, saving time and preventing repeat matchups.

We'll have top Tristate players clashing with the best of the Northwest, so make sure you're part of the action by signing up today!

Hey! Just want to make sure that the event listing is correct. This is still a biweekly event and you'll meet this coming Friday, May 18th? I've told a few people about it already and would hate to disappoint...

Bring your controller out every other Friday for Orbitar, Seattle's preeminent Smash 4 bi-weekly, at GameWorks! In addition to the bracket, we’ll have setups dedicated to friendlies. Smashers of all skill levels are welcome!

If you can’t make it out, you should be able to catch some of the action at twitch.tv/GameWorksSeattle, and you can claim your results on Smashboards here.

NOTE: Bringing a setup (console with DLC + GameCube adapter) that we use for bracket can waive your venue fee. We can only waive fees while there are still open monitors to pair the consoles with, so make sure you get here early for the discount! If you'll be providing something, please also let us know so we can plan accordingly.

Now featuring: Orbitar 49 on 6/15!

Schedule
Registration from 5:30 PM - 6:20 PM PT, bracket from 6:30 PM - 10 PM PT

Entry
Venue: $5
Bracket: $5

NOTE: GameWorks becomes 18+ after 10 PM. All ages are allowed to enter the space for bracket and friendlies, but once 10 PM rolls around, we'll need to check IDs and escort those under 18 out of the venue. We do our best to finish brackets before this becomes an issue.

Rules

Orbitar follows the National Recommended Ruleset. Consult this document for more information on stage lists and procedures: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CFaeel_cVIImEZ7ZrIrb_fSva5H3tsN24yp2INyrVLE/edit
Will the console you provide will have dlc or no, and do we have to bring our own console?

Heya! Are there any stations for friendlies at this event? I don't think I'm tourney-ready yet, but have been looking for locals to practice with since I moved to the area. (I played some casuals at NWM and got wrecked, but it was pretty motivating.)

We've come a long way, everyone... This Friday marks Orbitar 50, and that's a milestone worth celebrating. Bring your controller and your friends out this week to join in and reminisce with us! We might also have a little something to announce during the event...

Yep--there won't be any friendly setups near the start of the bracket, but more and more will open up the further we get into the tournament. Looking forward to having you out!

We're all geared up for Ultimate this Friday, 12/14--come explore the new game with us + get some of the best practice you'll find in Washington before Don't Park on the Grass!

Are there prizes involved, or is it just for pride/fun?
There's a cash payout to top 4, yep.

Work + commute time/distance has made attending these really difficult, but I should finally be able to make it on the 28th! I'm really excited to meet folks and get some more experience.

Curious if anyone here is in the Bellevue area and looking for practice partners? I hold occasional smash nights at my place, though most of my friends are very early into learning the game. Would love to get some more experience into the circle. Hit me up if interested!

We're back this Friday! True to our word, we'll be experimenting with stage lists for the next couple of events. Check the OP for the version we're currently running.

I recommend hitting up the WWA Discord--plenty of people coordinate netplay and in-person practice there. You can find it on the Links page of www.satellitesmash.com.
