Hey folks. So recently the melee scene at my University has been picking up, and I've decided that I want to develop a leader board/power ranking for us. As it stands, I have our smashers over for a biweekly get together. What I was thinking was that at the next one, I would do a round robin and determine our initial ranking by win/loss record. Each time we get together after that, one can challenge the person directly above them in a BO5 for their spot. What do you think? Comments/questions/concerns/suggestions? All input is appreciated.

I don't think there's really a hard and fast rule for how to do power rankings. However, if you run tourneys with any sort of frequency, I'd recommend having results from them count.

Also, head to head results aren't the only thing to take into account. Sometimes A wins against B even though player B beats better players than player A can.

In short, use your best judgement for who should be where, and if a spot is in dispute, then have the people in question fight it out head to head.
