Well known live-stream eSports website, Hitbox.tv, is hosting their first three-day premier Super Smash Bros tournament, Olympus, that is dedicating a headliner for Project M. The competition this year round for this new premier tournament is tough since there will be a lot of top level players in attendance from every game since most were confirmed super early for registration. Top level players from around the country such as Larry "eLevate | Larry Lurr" Holland, Jason "Immortals | Anti" Bates, Samuel Robert “Renegades | Dabuz” Buzby and Saleem Akiel “MVG | Salem” Young will be in attendance for Smash Wii U. Melee will also be relatively stacked, with the likes of Joey "Selfless | Lucky" Aldama, Michael “ Obey | Mike Haze” Pulido and Hugo “HugS” Gonzales confirmed for attendance.

After getting picked up by Renegades earlier in the month of October, Dabuz () is looking to collect a first place win for his new team and regain his consistency of placing first at the majority of events he is able to attend. Will we see Dabuz bust out the laptop again at Olympus like he did at CEO 2016 against ANTi?
Fly Society's new signed player, Fatality (), the best Captain Falcon in the world, is known for is known for his air dodge reads, his ability to pull off amazing combo strings, off-stage proficiency and as well as his lightning-quick dash dance mindgames. Will we see this Captain Falcon main knee his way to victory and claim his throne at Olympus?

On the Melee side of things, a cohort of SoCal Smashers are looking to take it for their region - and themselves. Lucky, Mike Haze and HugS are placed 4th, 5th and 8th on the SoCal power rankings, respectively, and each are going into Friday with their own momentum. Lucky recently placed 1st at a particularly stacked tournament, UCSD Super Triweekly 4, and HugS placed an impressive 2nd at Trail Gaming League 10, losing only to Colbol in Grands.

Mike Haze seems to be the only SoCal contender who hasn’t gone to a tournament since TBH6, where he placed 33rd. That does not, however, lessen his chances against Lucky and HuGs. He has proved himself capable of beating Lucky - despite Lucky’s 6-2 set advantage - and HugS - whom he has a striking 8-4 set lead on - so expect a valiant effort out of Mike Haze this weekend.
Team Grab and Go, comprised of Hendrick “DJ Nintendo” PIlar and Ryan “The Moon” Coker-Welch, will attempt to defend the Tristate region at Olympus. Known for their doubles prowess, the two are forces to be reckoned with in singles as well. The Moon in particular is considered to be one of the best North American Marth specialists and has proven his merit in that regard, given his top 3 finishes at Heir 2 and Apex 2016.
While attending mostly for Project M, the United Kingdom’s Aaron “VWS | Professor Pro” Thomas is no slouch in Melee, being ranked 1st on his country’s power rankings. A fourth place finish at one of Europe’s biggest majors this year, Eclipse 2, last October 21 - 23 solidifies him as a threat in-bracket. With wins over the likes of Hungrybox and losses to many players ranked below him, his performance at Olympus will be unpredictable.
