Oklahoma Thread: Weekly events for all games in OKC and Tulsa

next weekend. i am having a small smashfest.
OF crew is invited.
and then, like...2 more people, is all i can have. i was hoping rasta and pay$, so i can ask rasta about everything with the tourny.
but if rasta can't/is busy, then grav/shade are welcome. and if they can't, or someone from OF can't, i'll send out the additional invites

I know you are gonna invite me to that smashfest, aren't you?

And Shade, I've never played against you so I can't really say anything about your skill.

shade, i have a few things to say. first off, im WAY MORE underrated then you are, and i wouldnt be surprised if every single person in the state finds it shameful to be beaten by me. second off, as rasta, said statment of fact is not being mean, sometimes the truth hurts. third of all, learn when people are being serious and when theyre taking a joke.

now, WITHOUT passing judgement.....chris placed better at power rankings, and he is higher in the current power rankings. that is all i have to say, but it may explain what people say about you. if you feel the only way to make things right is to beat chris and/or pablo 1 out of 5 times(.....)then go ahead and do so.

HOWEVER, the less you treat it as a game, and the more you treat it as a competition, the worse you will do. the more importance you attach to it, and the higher hopes you have, and the more confident you are, the more it will burn if and when you lose.

i guess the point is, is that it doesnt matter whos better, in that the best will come out with time, probably at ohsnap.

ALSO, if you beat them at friendlies, but then turn down/lose to them at MM, or lose to them in tournies, it says a lot more then the other way around, get it?

friendlies dont really show much, so just keep that in mind.

thats my 2 cents on that anyway...

but its ok, because ill probably 4 stock you, and i AM a better samus then attack storm.

well, gravity, i actually don't think you're underestimated anymore, since you moved hella up on the power ranking. everyone here kind of understands your skill, whereas shade moved down.

and if the current power ranking had anything to do with the tournament, i wouldn't be 13th. but i am, so fancy that.
we could spend day after day argueing about who is the best and starting a civil war , but it seems more efficient if we worried about eveyrone improving their game for the upcoming tourny to prove to the OOSers that oklahoma

I'll try, but it doesn't look good. I'm sure Marc will, though. Keep me on a TBA type thing, though. Also, I'm not trying to be mean, but some of you guys have the wrong approach to things like this. I play this game for fun more than any other reason. In case you haven't noticed, I play Luigi, who is most obviously a joke character in the vein of Game and Watch and Pichu. He is not meant to be taken seriously, I mean the guy's dash attack is a flailing sissy attack...yet he has a deadly *** UpB to punish those who take him lightly in a fight.

I get a kick out of using him. If I happen to beat some guy's "competitive" Fox with my flailing sissy pink wearing ***, then laugh along with me. If the guy waveshines me into an Upsmash and subsequent shine spike on my recovery to win the match, so be it. I still had a good time either way because I'm playing a game that has brought me so much enjoyment.

By that token, I have become captivated and amazed at the level to which the true competitors, the pros, have managed to take this fun little party game. These guys have created a whole other game, far beyond its intended limits. I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this expansive new metagame with my beloved Luigi. However, there is one thing that I have yet to experience with this game; the thrill of winning the big one: a victory in a pressure situation.

I want to know what Pablo, Kuni, and Chris experience when they're down two-stock with hundreds of dollars at stake. I want to know how it feels to pull off that big win in a clutch situation with all your friends shouting your name and going crazy when the game announcer says, "GAME!" I have had tons of fun, now I want to win, even if its only once.

Win and have fun. I think you can do both, but never let winning become your only motivation... It will create only sorrow, and a game should NEVER do that.

Haha. Yeah, there is no one more manly than the Captain... I will probably pick him up as well, but I need to focus on getting really good really fast, and Sheik is just the character for that.
As I always say, "Everyone is good with Sheik, they just don't know it yet..."

When he three stocked me it was a friedly out side of the power ranking, the actual match in he power rankng was much closer than that, keep that in mind.

Anyway, Im probably not giong to be in the same mood as I ussually am when you guys see me at a smash fest, so don't be suprised.

Yes my sig has changed Hazy, jut a bit though, shiek is so easy to use its not even funnny, but to use shiek better than another shiek playeris something else.

Shade plays seriously, just not as often as I'd like him too, but he does. Usually our matches are pretty much even depending on the stage. I wouldn't say he would beat the living **** out of me but he can beat me.

I also agree with Po... we need to take down Texas first before anything else.

Does it really matter who is better than who in the state? I don't think so. All that matters is that Oklahoma smashers are better than Texas smashers.

On another note... My life got 50 times better today. I found out I don't have school at all next week except for Monday, and I am probably gonna skip if that is the case. Whoo! A whole week off!

Im playing seriously as much as I can from now on, I still cant bring out my offensive half on command yet, until then Im training my normal side as MUCH a possible......... MyMarths sword just got 3 times as sharp and its only going to get sharper. Im practicing alot now, and well see just how much it pays of next week if you guys hod a fest.

Wow, everyone made so many brilliant, insightful posts that I don't have time to comment on them all But I agree with them, good ****.

Anyway, I was watching a video of Drew fighting Samusedaway a OHSNAP, and I realized that I'm pretty good at fighting Samus, due to the fact that I play Gravity so much. But then that got me thinking, what if I played Peach, Fox, and Falco that much too, then I'd be pretty good at fighting them, right? And I need to be good at fighting them if I want to stand a chance at OHSNAP2. So I need to fight Chris, Shade, and Pablo more often to get sufficient practice. Cause, I can practice by myself all I want, but it doesn't do anything in the long run. I need more experience. Fight me, *****es! We all need to play each other more often, that's the only way we're going to be able to truly prepare for this tournament.

shade, it's not that i think you're worse or anything, it's just.........falco.

on the other hand, you're half asian, and asians are stereotypically engineered to be good at video games. So it's kind of not a surprise that youre good. Whereas kos mos and vega do not have a genetic advantage to the rest of us. So some may make a big deal over getting beat by chris or pablo over you.

The same is true with gravity, who has been stereotyped to get his *** kicked at everything. But he found a loophole. he found the cheapest character in the game (sheik with 3 projectiles and a near-infinite jump) and exploited it, which is why everyone gets stark raving pissed when they lose to him.

everything in red is just a joke, except the stuff about gravity.

and i'm basically last place. gt was as good as rasta was when he started. I could beat rasta when he started, meaning i haven't improved at all. This spins me to an entirely new level of pissed off.

i will play everyone, repeatedly, first until i get my mindgames back because ****, i haven't played since at hazygoose's. Then to find ways to beat you and/or your characters in general.

And very true, i say every week until the tournament someone host a smash fest, it will be great practice. and I have scores to settle with vega and kosmos now. And zinth feel free to fight any one of my characters. Though I recomend being suffecient enough against the more popular ones such as peach, and marth. To be honest the only state that has threatened us with foxes and falcoes are ..............none, at least none of the states weve faught have shown us a fox or falco that we havnt already seen one of our own fox and falcoes do. Everyone uses jigglypuff, peach, and marth, and shiek. Concentrate on those, as there arnt to many foxes and falcoes to worry about as there are the other characters.
