This thread is for high fidelity headphones, can you not read? I made this thread with the intention of talking about hi-fi headphones and related equipment, not discussion about some dude who doesn't like cables rubbing against him when he does squats.

My current setup:

Headphones: HD650, HD595, Jaycar Pro Monitors (Brainwavz HM5/Fischer Audio FA-003 clone)

IEM: Hifiman RE0

Amp: Objective 2 amp with custom 1/4th inch output jack

DAC: ObjectiveDAC

I will probably start saving up for a pair of Hifiman HE-500s.

Also, does anyone have some info on Sennheiser's new Electrostat?

i made a thread about this a while back.

I have:

Headphones:

Audio Technica M50 /w removable cable
Grado SR60i
Koss Pro DJ-100 with M50 pads
Hisoundaudio Golden Crystal
Skullcandy Hesh 2.0 (the new design /w removable cable, better tuning, etc.)
Shure SE315, getting custom earmoulds in December.

DAC:

Focusrite VRMBox. I don't use the software. It has a powerful amp, and a cirrus logic DAC. It's very neutral/clinical.

Zune HD 16GB is my DAP

Pioneer VSX 9900S is my amp. I'm also running the following speakers through it:

2 KRK Rokit powered 5 (i run these until they feel hot to the touch. lasts me about 2-3 albums. being careful not to overheat the voice coils.)
2 Pioneer CS-G301WAII floor-standing passive speakers
2 Jensen TF-3-A floor-standing passive speakers
1 Onkyo SKW-350 passive subwoofer

Why do you prefer IEMs to over ear headphones? At least it seems like you do, considering you've spent a lot more on IEMs.

because of school and work. i have long hair so i can wear iems in such a way that it doesnt look like im wearing headphones to ninja my professors/managers. tho now that i graduated it doesnt matter much. i still usually wear the m50s all over the place.

also travel.

also im awesome and only spent 60 on the hisoundaudio when they retial at 200.

i've spent:

80 on m50. spent $3 to mod them in to removable
65 on hesh
got the pro dj for free
81 for the grados

paid

210 for the shure
65 for the hisoundaudio

also i want to save up for either audio technica a900x or denon music maniac. both sound awesome. the best buy here has a great headphone section.

you're paying for marketing. in their retail price bracket, they're subpar.

The solo are legitimately bad though.

I've never owned a decent pair of headphones in my life and it pisses me off because I'm somewhat of an audiophile.

Mostly because I see how others treated my electricals and didn't want them to get borrowed and trashed within a week.

Sort of the story of all my stuff lol.

I know the feel.

People who feel exactly like you do usually allow me to borrow their stuff though. I'm really good with electronics that don't belong to me. My stuff always gets trashed somehow, but I always return friends equipment in the same condition.

Ha, I'm usually happy to lend stuff to people who value their electrical goods, but sadly a lot of people around me are just lackadaisical when it comes to taking care of their property in general. :(

In any case, could you list a bunch of high quality headphones that would be within the $100 range?

Sony MDR V6
Grado SR60i
Grado SR80i
KRK KNS6400
Audio Technica ATH-AD700
Shure SRH440

If you find a deal on them, you could get Audio Technica M50s, KRK KNS8400 or HM5 Brainwavz (or a clone) for around 100 bucks. It sucks because you missed a lot of good sales on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Also, you may want to check out getting a pair of used headphones. If you get them from an audiophile site you almost certainly are getting a well cared for pair of cans.

Bought these earlier in the year. Audio Technica - WS70 for 85 bucks. They have some extra bass in them, and I was not going to touch Beats for my extra bass. **** is overpriced and now that I've been with these headphones for a while, the sound on the Beats is garbage.

Only downside to these cans is that they will hurt your ears after a while. Especially if you're wearing glasses.

I'm actually thinking of investing in a pair of wireless headphones. Mainly because I'm on the go often, and especially when I'm at the gym. Lifting weights and having your cord get stuck is the ultimate "NOOO" feeling when you hope that cord doesn't snap.

Only good ones I've found are the Logitech UE 9000

Not a fan of letting sweat end up on my cord. Plus, doesn't work when you're doing preacher curls. Having the wire press against the platform puts a strain on the cord, while also making you feel uncomfortable.

And then anything involving bending down like deadlifts. Running the bar against your leg, which in turn includes the wire is risky as well and uncomfy.

Box jumps, clap push ups, declining sit ups, shooting ups are some other things that are annoying with a wire.

I am not going to detach and attach a cable every 5 minutes when I come to an exercise that I feel like has the cord get in the way.

Plus, when I'm shooting hoops for an hour and practicing, I'd rather have music in my ears than no music at all.

Also, you guys missed the part where I said in general, I'm just always on the move, so I don't want to deal with a cord when I'm outside my house.

You're being close-minded. You buy a headphone with a detatchable cable because it negated the worry that while you're working out that you are going to break your cable. If it breaks, buy a replacement from monoprice for $3.

you wear it like you normally would whilst working out. :/

i almost never actually detatch my cable myself. i buy them specifically because i'm on the go a lot.

also i don't know why anyone has problems working out with headphones. my iems never came loose, and I was able to do freeweights with full-sized cans with no effort, and like you, i don't like the cord to be ran through my shirt.

...Did you read any part of my last post? Here, I'll simply copy and paste it with some extra details in bold. Maybe you'll see my point of view.

I am not going to detach and attach a cable every 5 minutes when I come to an exercise that I feel like has the cord get in the way. Music keeps me amped during my lift, and when you are at the gym for an hour or so, I just find it personally troublesome to detach the cord on and off between exercises, let alone if I choose to do it through sets. Also, on some exercises like Deadlifts and Preacher curls, the cord is pressed (it leaves a mark on what part of skin the cord is pressing) or gets in the way. I either take the headphones/cord off, or I can have the luxury of having a wireless pair, so I don't deal with any cord worries.

Plus, when I'm shooting hoops for an hour and practicing, I'd rather have music in my ears than no music at all. Once again. Having a cord outside my shirt gets in the way at all times. Lord knows how many times my headphones have been yanked while shooting. I'm not a fan of having it under my shirt as previously stated.

Also, you guys missed the part where I said in general, I'm just always on the move, so I don't want to deal with a cord when I'm outside my house. For example. When I was leaving class one time, my headphone cord got caught on a part of the desk and the wire snapped. Another example is being at the library only to have my cord get snagged by something along the way.
I understand wireless headphones have lesser quality compared to their wired counterparts, but it's also why I'm always on the search for a good wireless pair to begin with. So before you call me close minded, I recommend you try to comprehend my posts, and see what I'm getting at.

This thread is about high fidelity headphones not you exercising with headphones on.

No one here cares about wireless headphones but you.

Post stuff about your Hi-Fi cans.

What belongs in this thread: Talking about your current setup, future purchases, favorite brands, questions about what you should buy, deals you've seen on the internet etc.

DAC and Amp discussion is welcome too.

What does not belong in this thread:

"high end" cables, .wav vs. .flac, or any other nonsense.
Don't see anything about this thread saying I can't post about "gym" related gear or not. Sorry if it's something you can't relate too.

Like I said, I already understand that wireless headphones are no where near as good as wired. However, I do see use for them at times, and I find them to be practical for me when I'm not at home. Furthermore, I advise you take a look at yourself and wonder why you have to act the way you do. People who are trying to understand the nuances of good headphones don't get so far at times, especially on head-fi because there are a bunch of snobby people who laugh newbies off. Great way to welcome newcomers right? People seem to forget that at some point, they didn't know much either.

You've successfully made this entire thread about your workout routine and how cables upset you. Go somewhere else.

Don't see anything about this thread saying I can't post about "gym" related gear or not. Sorry if it's something you can't relate too.
EPIK BURN

By the way, read the first line of the original post. "Post stuff about your Hi-Fi cans."

This thread is called the "official headphone thread." Not the "Doser calls everyone stupid because people talk about headphones other than super good ones." Where else would he talk about it?

So cut it out.

You are correct in that the opening post saying "Post stuff about your hi-fi cans." However, what is "hi-fi" is very subjective. Furthermore, as your original post says, I don't see anything in the "What does not belong" part stating situational headphones and what can be used for what. So you are already contradicting yourself in your own post. Is it wrong that I'm trying to find the best wireless pair available on the market?

If the definition of "hi-fi" is to reproduce the actual sound in its best accuracy, then just think what the level of comparison would be from a novice to an expert? So all in all, it's subjective.

Just chill out and let it be. I asked for recommendations on if there are any good wireless pairs, and like a lot of head-fi members, you guys decided to get on your high horse and laugh. When you think about it, it's wrong to show that level of disrespect, no?

Locked. If you're not mature enough to realize that other headphones are perfectly fine to talk about IN A HEADPHONE thread, then you don't need to be op of that thread.
