So an ARMS fan game very recently came out: Arms2D.

It's a simplified (and somewhat Super Smash Bros. like) version of ARMS.

It has all 10 starter characters plus 4 extra characters: Lasso (Original), Monkey King :4dk:, Galactigirl :4zss:, and Small Fry :4littlemac:; each with their own stats and special abilities.

Here are the controls
  • Enter - Enter or E
  • Back - Esc or Q
  • Move - Left & Right or A & D
  • Jump - Up or W
  • Guard - Down or S
  • Aim - Mouse
  • Punches - Left Click & Right Click
  • Grab - Left & Right Click at the same time
Pretty neat from what I played.

That is a very impressive endeavor and worth many congratulations. Would be nice if Nintendo saluted the gesture and rewarded the maker by adding their OC Lasso into the actual game via DLC... but y'know, it's Nintendo, most they will do is take the game down if that's what they see fit.

The creator really wants this game to not get too much attention to avoid a C&D (I already know that won't be easy).

Anywho, The Global Testpunch is almost upon (today for North America, tomorrow for everyone else). Here are the times with timezones:

I have two plans when I play this Global Testpunch:
  1. Try all available characters (Confirmed to be 7)
  2. Try both motion controls & the Pro Controller

Everything I've seen so far makes this fun Arms looks fun and addictive, and like a blast to play, Global Test punch was a success.

This post I would like to share is a bit old, the champion of ARMS tournament that was held in Japan was a Taiwanese player nicknamed Itoshiki. I was impressed by seeing this Tweet.

This is the interview article from Taiwan gaming site Bahamut, I hope I could translate it someday.

Good their getting press out about it, getting it to be known. And letting people know it's coming will help in the long run.

And I just saw this goddamn cute Mechanica and MinMin comic, my two favorite characters in ARMS by the way.

^3^ This is so damn kawaii! This means more to me for a good reason.

Before the demo: My faves were Mechanica & Min Min

After the demo: My faves are still Mechinca & Min Min!

The Global Testpunch is frickin' AMAZING! I makes me hunger for the full game much MOAR! 16 days is so far away...

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

But both Google & Bing translators failed me to find a good translation of the text though it implies something we may see in 36 hours (about 5 PM EST).

She sure does.

If only alternate hair for the girls were a thing.
And here is a normal Twintelle. I have say she looks more attractive like this.

Some fighters look very different in their normal look, now I want to see Ribbon Girl, and MinMin without their masks.

Not too good and not too bad.
Now the English scores are pulling in, most of them ranging from alright to meh (mostly because of the motion controls and lack of content).

http://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/arms

It's not different from how Splatoon was received when it was first launched, except few had any real problems with the motion controls. A Metacritic score of 78% isn't that bad when Hyrule Warriors' original score was a close to that.

From what I've seen, this game looks like it could be a lot of fun. I'll probably get the game at some point after it comes out. I already have my hands full with other games I gotta finish.

Why would you make a score out of 40? Random number.

Regardless that's 82.5
I think there are four reviewers at Famitsu that all give their own score.

Less than a week left!

Hoping we get some nice news at E3 along with the Open Invitational
Honestly, I don't think E3 is the place to go into detail about the DLC.
Twitter and Tumblr have shown to be great outlets for these kinds of info for Splatoon and unless they're announcing something big like ARMSfests (aka not Splatfests) I think E3 is best left for new games/info on games that don't release the day after E3

I still expect something. No DLC news could be understandable, but when your game is releasing literally the day after E3, you got one last chance to wow potential buyers.

I think a "Hey, this presentation might be over, but our E3 coverage continues with the Treehouse and the special invitational tournaments for Splatoon 2, Pokken DX and our newest game ARMS, releasing tomorrow" is enough.
No need to dwell on a basically released game when your main event is only 30 ish mins long

ARMS is out!
Got more arts to share:
Let's pray Mechanica won't get suffocated...
Minmin seems to be salty of seeing this...
Wedding skins in ARMS for female fighter anyone? Like how they did with FE Heros?

Really enjoying the game so far. Felt a good challenge in Grand Prix even on level 2.

Probably won't play too much today as I'm a bit tired today.

Got it yesterday, played it today. Did some of the tutorials, went through Grand Prix a couple times, and it's a lot of fun. One thing I wish I could control is the camera, kind of like an FPS, the aim has been a little frustrating so far, I'd like a little more freedom.

Been playing a bit of Arms, hadn't had the chance to put some serious time into it since I had work and then we had family stuff to attend to...But this morning I was able to give it a good play...feels good to play this game again but I can't help but feel a little anxious for the added content that we'll be getting over time...

Impressions on new characters...

Kid Cobra-I'm actually kind of disappointed, Kid Cobra was one of the characters I was most eager to try out pre-release and he wasn't available during the TestPunch...I hate how sluggish he is without his charge, at times it leaves me vulnerable when trying to get his charge...I also don't like how if you hold the charge for slightly too long he dashes multiple times, I'd rather have to input the three dashes separately to have better precision instead of accidentally dashing twice all the time when I only want to dash once to counter an attack...
One thing I did find cool was how he sort of slithers underneath oncoming attacks if you dash at the right time which can leave your opponent open for a counter...If I put in more time with him I'm sure I can better utilize his abilities in an advantageous way but right now he going in the Helix camp atm...

Byte & Barq-Byte's got some pretty decent movement, I think he compares pretty well to Springman as he seems fairly well balanced but of course Barq is the center of his whole gimmick...using Barq's punch as a hit confirm at times seems quite effective, and using him for jumping gives him some decent aerial mobility that can be tricky to counter...

I think however I'll settle with Min Min, I managed to clear Level 4 Grand Prix with her(while getting completely bodied in the process holy crap!!) with her, and I've had a decent amount of success online (so far only Party Mode as I want to get a bit better before taking on Ranked Matches)...Ribbon Girl will likely be my secondary cuz that aerial movement is just too good...

Grand Prix
I find it very interesting that after fighting Hedlock for the first time, you don't fight him again...This leaves me to believe that the single player experience is far from finished as the additional updates may add something rather interesting as we go...

But as of now the Grand Prix, is nothing more than a simple Smash style Classic mode, mini-games added and all...But I'd say it's a good run down when trying out different characters as it gives you a decent amount of playtime with them...

I think I've also decided that I probably prefer using the motion controls...While traditional controls give you far better movement overall, I feel like I just have a better grasp with the joy-cons...

I don't know too much about ARMS but if I do get it one day I'd like to play as Master Mummy, he's cool

That's kinda crazy tbh. Those are big names. Switch is so hot right now.
Yeah Switch is doing some real work.

Let's just hope Nintendo is able to fix the supply issue by the holidays.

Then perhaps we'll see some big numbers.

That aside, I hope the Switch continues to do well.

Arms is pretty much the Switch's first big title...BotW and Mario Kart are also available on the Wii U in some form even though they still do very well overall, but Arms is a game made purely for the Switch...

It's really good to see it doing so well, especially for a new IP...

Well, after looking around on their official website this is going to be a whole lot of fun. Let me tell y'all: a young lady in a cheerleader outfit wearing boxing gloves was more than enough to convince me to pick up this game in the future. I feel like taking a break from Smash Bros. and Tekken anyway.
