Odd tech: Using Needles to force an early platform land

I think its pretty useless but cool nonetheless. If you start charging needles the moment your feet are passing the platform (on the way up) then you land on the platform, negating your continued upward motion. Has this been discovered before? Does it have a use?

I don't really see a use unless since wavelanding onto a platform seems to be faster. I could be wrong though haha.
