Pretty happy with how I did though I felt I was shy of Top 4. I went purely Shulk and played with my custom build of Hyper Monado Arts/Back Slash Charge/Air Slash/Powerful Vision barring one match where I opted for defaults. I lost to a Sonic then a Robin.

Highlight had to be when I killed a Sheik at around 70% with a Hyper Smash BThrow on the edge. I was 150%+ last stock as well. Needless to say that boy was salty.

Sorry I meant Back Slash Charge not Leaping Back Slash (as in the one with armour). If the front hit was stronger it would be an amazing approach option thanks to the armour. Though it's good when the for is at high percents to try to force your way in.

Oh, I think you got the date wrong. It says 8/11/14 but Smash 3DS for Japan was released at 9/13/14 and for the US at 10/3/14 and for AU at 10/4/14

my first IRL 3DS tournament, and it allowed custom movesets, which made me feel better... the custom shulk I had used Decisive monado arts before I got some insight from another player in the longrun... both matches I lost to were against the same :4greninja: player... who used Upthrow to Uair a lot, using water shurikens at a distance and then using Usmash as his go-to finisher on the ground. have no idea how to fight him and despite many salty runbacks afterwards I STILL couldn't figure him out... will need some insight on this later.

the :4link: player, Doc, had all but countered my :4shulk: on round 2, and I barely clutched out round 3 with :4robinm: only because I landed an Arcfire+ offstage, and I had a feeling that at the damage I was at, if I missed, I'd have been in trouble.

Congratulations on getting 3rd regardless :) (Also noticed another player there that posted here at one point. Not sure if I should post his results on the OP without his permission)

As for Greninja.... Derp. He's in the same place as Robin for me which is "Never fought one" :(

Had alot of fun first small tournament I went to, and it was at my university. How the placings turned out I went 7-2 and second place went 7-2 when we played eachother I lost 2-3 so it was a close game. The first place winner was 9-0 as Greninja and he was pretty beast. The issue I had was the player who got 2nd place used Duck Hunt dog and i'm pretty terrible against that exploding can lol. The event itself was a University closed event however you could invite friends so I had two of my buddies come with also. I hope to find a large tournament in Texas soon!

It can be misleading when someone says they placed with a character, yet watching the footage shows they had to switch out of using that character multiple times. Good to keep that in mind. Ryuga did great things with Ike recently, but reverted to Sheik eventually for grand finals which may say a lot.

I'm very well aware of this which is why asking for which character they used and how the tournament was for them was important because for all I know, they may have only used Shulk maybe once or twice in a tournament.

Trela triple maining is confusing but it's safe to say that he may have used Shulk a good number of times because there are videos of it (and a good number of people talk about his Shulk... and Zard :p)

Edit: He uses Robin/Shulk for most of the tourneys he goes to

I hosted TGC and I got 25th with shulk/lucina.

Also, Trela doesn't "triple main" you can only main one character hence the term "main." Trela uses Robin/shulk at every event and Charizard just that one time.

So the tournament that was supposed to be today had 4 people including me who were there for Smash 3DS. So our TO just kinda sorta cancelled it. So I no longer have results to post. Ugh. I think I'm gonna go nuts if we don't get a Wii U scene at all.

I removed the tourney links and just linked the tourney name to the thread/page itself

Also, posting a link to the tournament would be nice

Wifi tournaments will also be accepted. I'll label them as (wifi) in the OP

Made it to top 32 at KTAR with Shulk. I don't know my exact placing yet but there was about 167 entrants.

Sadly none of my matches w/ Shulk got on stream. I got 1st place in Pools with him but in the final bracket I lost to Zucco and ADHD, they were pretty close games though.

However, there is some early footage of friendlies with my shulk against Logic's Olimar.

My first Smash Bros. tournament ever, so I'm pretty satisfied about how it turned out. I ran Mighty Air Slash and Power Vision customs. It was double-elimination - first loss was to an amazing Villager player (who went on to win the thing), he played very well. I regret not asking what his customs did, spent so much time tripping on the sapling... My eventual second loss was to a Toon Link player. I think I could've won if I didn't self-destruct twice (once to thinking I still had a second jump [I jumped and uair'd, but didn't realise the uair accidentally caused a double jump], once to switching Arts too late meaning I couldn't up-B until Jump went into effect).

Yeah, I found out it counters later in the night. Haven't worked out if it counters on touch or hit, but yeah it messed me up bad. I think customs wrecked a lot of people because they don't know what to expect. A Ganondorf took everyone by surprise because no one really knows how to deal with him effectively, let alone with the customs. He got all the way to the finals.
