Northwest Majors Dropzone - Feat. ZeRo, Alphicans, Silent Wolf, Druggedfox, Captain L and More!

Smash 64, Melee, Brawl, Project M, Smash4, and more all under one roof? It's not a fantasy, it's Northwest Majors Dropzone! Taking place this weekend in Des Moines, Washington it's looking to be swamped with talent from each and every Smash title. Need to know the big threats going in? Wondering where to watch? Read on to find out!

Smash 64

Smash 64 may not have a massive bracket but some rare to see talent has come out to compete! In the Smash 64 pool 1 the top seeded player is Captain L. Coming all the way from Maple Ridge in British Columbia to compete, his fox should be tough to take down. Also in the first pool is ShankS who along being power ranked in Melee in Washington also has some Smash 64 skills. The big talent in the second pool comes in Jason and A La Carte both of whome will be a challenge for those that meet them.

Melee

With a $1000 pot bonus it comes as no surprise the talent pool coming out to play Melee has been massive! Eight out of the ten Washington power ranked players will be in attendance including, listed in order of their ranking, Silent Wolf, Bladewise, Iceman, eBay, ThePrime, OutTheCutz, Oreo, and ShankS.

These locals wont have it easy however as some serious talent is coming in to fight them on their home turf. Alphicans has come from Edmonton, Alberta, DruggedFox from Georgia, Shunsuke and Big D, both power ranked in British Columbia, and out of Oregon power ranked players FatGoku, Eggz, FoosJr, Adam, Balloon, and KeithRep.

The lists doesn't end there either as Pookie, Dr. Z, Rustin, Shiny, Wasabi, booshk, Chip, kiriya_aoi, and Luigi Ka-Master are also set to attend. With so many coming from British Columbia, a region seen less here in the states, the tournament has a great chance to see some interesting upsets and results.

Brawl

It's been a while since the last big showing for Brawl so thankfully Northwest Majors has some serious talent entering! One of the biggest threats comes from Alphicans. It's been a while since his Mr. Game and Watch has hit the stage but he also has a Meta Knight and Ice Climbers in his pocket if needed. Big D will have his patented King Dedede to bring so expect some chaingrabs! Viviff T. Great will also be bringing a Meta Knight and Felix his Diddy Kong and Snake. There won't be another big Brawl event like this for quite some time so Brawl fans should be sure to tune in!

Project M

Project M also looks to sport some serious competition as a lot of great talent is coming in for the event! Alphicans, Bladewise, and Silent Wolf look to be the front runners to take home the gold but they wont be able to win so easily. Chevy, Hungry Headcrab, Punk Panda, Agi, Big D, Crow, Eggz, Focus, Aki, IM_JK. JuSt, Oreo, Tspeeds, and UO_Fox all be will be coming to try and take some of these giants down.

Smash 4

Also sporting a $1000 pot bonus the Smash 4 event is looking to be JUST as stacked as the other events! The dominant force of Smash 4 that is ZeRo will be coming out to compete and there will be a lot of players thirsty to join the ranks of the few that have taken him down.

Alphicans will bring his Little Mac, a character not often seen played at such a high level. Twins t0mMii and t1mmy will also be coming, keep an eye out for them in the doubles bracket! British Columbia has some great talent coming out including Captain L who shows ESAM isn't the only scary Pikachu in a Bracket and Big D who is one of the best King Dedede mains in Smash 4.

If that wasn't enough there's even more notable names set to compete! Braixen, BroBear, Viviff T. Great, MBA, Churro, Disorient, Celestial, Locke, Felix, Firefly, Focus, Fuzzio, Jamnt0ast, Justice, Kaito ****, Konga, Shinkou, and Shiny will also set out to take home some of that major pot bonus.

Streams for the Smash side of the event will be provided by TeamKhaos, zodiacsmash, breadnbuttergames, and epeengaming with a streaming schedule available here. Brackets for the events can be found here. More information on the event can be found on its Smashboards Event Post. Excited to see the best of the best duke it out at Northwest Majors Dropzone? Sound off in the comments below and keep an eye on Smashboards for more event previews!

Let's go, Alphicans!!

He just recently emerged victorious over Yoh, one of Ontario's best players using Little Mac as well. Also, let it be known here and now. The Alberta Smash scene will have a lot more content and streaming to show by next year. Alphicans is just a taste of what we got!

Go for the big wins, Luke!

SmashCapps I think you may be overestimating the amount of Brawl entrants sadly...

It's so awesome to see Brawl in another somewhat major tournament after SmashCon. I'm looking forward to this myself, can't wait to see @| Big D | represent the almighty king once again!:dedede:

There were 22 entrants for brawl at this event, and the Brawl players only brought one setup.

One.

It was kinda funny to see the PM setups being converted to Brawl setups so that they could play their game. (The TOs handled this extremely well btw.) They approached several of us who were responsible for setting up most of the PM stuff and asked if we could flip some setups. We managed to sacrifice four of our setups for the Brawl players. It was super funny to have to go through each setup, flip it over to Brawl and see if we had the characters unlocked, since a good chunk of our setups we have are "new". Most of the rest of our setups either didn't have the characters unlocked, or had some weird way of booting, to the point where it just wasn't possible to flip the setup while at the tournament.

How did you guys know I was going to be there? I didn't even know until kinda last-minute, haha. Had no money for the late entry fee + travel expenses; thankfully the owner, Chris sponsored us in and Churro let us hop aboard his carpool.

Pacific NW has a great community!

Me & t1mmy didn't play in the doubles bracket together, sorry to disappoint X^D

We all expected Zero to sweep through the tournament, but there were a few who gave him a good fight. Next time we want to see Cacogen face off against him, and let's up the hype and see Nairo get in on this!
