^^I think that Stafy has a better shot than Takamaru to be honest, but still... this is the wrong thread to be discussing this.

Sigurd still has a pretty good shot at appearing in the roster, but it really depends upon to what extent Sakurai is willing to have the Fire Emblem franchise represented. He has been mentioned to be his personal favorite Lord, which certainly helps.

Well, his chances certainly are not the best... Aside from Marth, it's pretty much going to be a coin toss as to which additional Fire Emblem representatives (if any) will be represented.

Ike-- Since SSB64, Sakurai has wanted Sigurd to be a fighter. Of course, that never happened. And when he started work on Sigurd for Melee, he got cut off, and had to instead include Roy (Marth was already going to be included as Sigurd's "partner"). Now that Ike has replaced Sigurd as the top requested, and most popular, FE Lord in Japan, Sakurai has a new decision on his hands. He has expressed interest in the character before, even remarking that he was the first international lord that everybody seemed to like. So his chances are high. Especially with that new FE stage showing up in the trailer...

O.K., so maybe I should have stated that "he is believed to be his favorite Lord" but it cerainly isn't an unfounded rumor. I can't find the source at this moment, but it was stated that Sakurai intended to include Sigurd in SSB64 and that Marth was intended to be HIS partner in Melee (of course, it ended up being the other way around with Roy). I also believe that there was an apparent comment of Sakurai's where he stated he was indeed his favorite, but it is likely that it was false. Still, there was evidence available to suggest that this was at least at one point the case.

How is Sigurd deconfirmed? Ike is wearing white, and that's about it. That's like saying Luigi's been deconfirmed cause Mario wears green. If you look closely at Ike and Sigurd's clothing, you'll notice both of them are actually quite similar. Ike has a collar, and as does Sigurd. Ike wears his belt at an angle, and so does Sigurd. It's understandable that they do look similar if Ike's clothing's been changed to white, but again, that's like saying Luigi won't be there cause Mario's alter colors resemble him. About the only thing I can't see is Ike's chest plate in the video, but considering the amount of action going on, there's no way to make out any detail outside of the belt belt against a white shirt.

This whole rumor with Sigurd started because of Roy being labeled as EMBLEM in the debug menu. Because of that, people thought he was a last minute edition (and they are probably right)

Some people jumped to the conclusion that this meant that Sigurd was supposed to be put in instead, since he's popular in Japan. The problem is there's no backing to this. Heck, the most likely explanation is that s Roy's own game was in development at the time as well, the developers of FE6 had not finalized a name at that time of Melee's production.

I'm thinking of standard fight without horse, special attack maybe one of them with his horse, and final smash with horse.

That's my thinking though.

No horse. There are so many things speaking against that... just no. For the Final Smash or his entrance, maybe. But nothing else would be plausible.
Sigurd has enough potential if you craftily switch between sword moves and the occasional lance strike.

B-Holy Slash(15%-20% damage)=A slow but powerful slash that has a small chance of stunning its foes
B->Raging White Fire-A quick sword combo that can be devasting, Sigurd charges & does a fast series of rapid blows and finish the attack with a ball of energy from his sword that trave;ls across the stage. this attack is very short ranged. There is also a small change that even if attack works sigurd may fail to properly use it and hurt himself, having no effect at all on its target.
Down B-Shining Blade=Sigurd will put his sword in ground and radiating light will flash out stunning any opponents near him in either direction(front or back.)\
^B-Roaring Lion-Sigurd thrusts up with his sword while white energy sorrounds.
Final Smash-Valiant Blaze=Sigurd will mount his horse and summon all of his power. He'll lift his sword and then start to charge, while a huge shield of pure energy, you may control the horse and jump with it, and B button releases powerful holy bolts from his sword(all other buttons are not used). Sigurd can move lightning fast on his horse and run over foes also. Lasts 20-25 seconds.

I am neutral with Sigurd, but having three similar representatives for Fire Emblem looks pretty dull. I would like other characters who would stand out more, but him using a lance is +1 for him. I think he would be better as an AT.

There's this thread for characters who have absolutely no chance... Sigurd not being one of them.
Though I guess you can write movesets for characters with very little chances as well... they just wouldn't be accepted officially. Possibly. Though Arceus did make it.

Sigurd deserves brawl,FE4 represented Fire Emblem its prime, I love the game because of the system and everything it didn't seem childish like the FE games on the GBA nowadays. No thanx to the Alt custome idea, sigurd looks nothing like Ike besides his blue hair.Sigurd would be a good deal faster then Ike, if he was in he'd probably between Ikes awesome strength and marth/roys goldy speed. At the very least he deserves to be an AT. Sigurd for brawl!!!!!

but when it comes to using swords and lances where does he stand?? some lord earned the ability to wield both with a promotion, but does he lean towards one weapon or is he pretty fond of both

im guessing by his artwork he's a sword user, and it would make sense to have a moveset mostly based off of that with some lance attacks but nothing so as to compromise the character

that makes as much sense as eliwood having a lance exclusive moveset when ephraim does indeed exist

Yes hes mostly a sword user but has the ablitity to use lances also. He even gets a white hrose for enhanced movement. Sigurd also starts pre-promoted and is a force to be reconned with.

Hmm, I was almost certain Sigurd yeilded more popularity. Sigurd and Celice share the role as the main character since 1 half you had sigurd and the other cecile(although it feels longer since its much harder)

Celice looks almost exactly like Marth especially with that Tyfring. Though he would be the coolest AT.

That old thing about how he is Sakurai's favorite FE character. This got started by the fact that Roy's name in the debug menue was EMBLEM, as opposed to everyone else who got their name. People speculated that Roy was last minnute, and for some reason thought that it meant Sigurd was supposed to be there, which somehow made them think Sakurai liked Sigurd the best. Though there is no real explanation to the EMBLEM thing, the most logical reason is the fact that Roy's name may have not even have been solidified for his own game, which was also in development, and came after Melee.
