We got any word on whether anyone tried doing a run without saving?

I noticed that the very first time you save, you overwrite a file called "Kris." Saving's kind of a massive lore piece in Undertale, and I was wondering if that was the point we were basically overriding Kris' original will.

A lot of the characters noticed that Kris was acting very "off" during the epilogue, which I'm still trying to determine whether to write off as player control or determination-based possession similar to a Genocide run.

That might kind of color whether Kris removing their soul in the final scene is a reassertion of control, making them the alternate-universe Chara, or finally gathering enough strength to overthrow whatever was there in the first place, meaning they become Chara, a la a Genocide-tainted True Pacifist run. Money's on the former - understanding is you can fiddle with the soul in the cage some, showing that's the player in there, although I didn't think to test - but I see just enough ambiguity that I can't be sure.

Plus, gives me something to do until Chapter 2 comes out, which seems like it'll be a minute.

The primary conceit of the game as I understand it is that your choices ultimately don't matter. Which from a design perspective makes sense. In order to smoothly transition to chapter two, chapter one needs to kind of return to the status quo.

But it makes narrative sense as well, as most of the story is the same regardless of your individual actions. The most agency the player possesses is if they lose a fight, and the only way to progress from there is the inevitable choice. Everything else is more or less just flavor; the end events don't deviate.

This being considered true, I would expect things to just turn out this way regardless.

Secondary sidenote would be that there seem to be two different entities that communicate with the player. One is the BOLD BLOOM TEXT chap who walks us through the intro and contacts us if we lose a fight, and one is the more normal-written person who discards our character after creation. Could be the same person, but their actions don't seem consistent, which leads me to believe it's at least possible that it's multiple people instead.

Bet the reveal of those identities and their goals is gonna be interesting.

If that's true, I don't think we'll be able to return to the dark world, at least as we're presently familiar with it. We don't have any option for saving the game past the King fight. Although a flag could be saved, much like the flag after a Genocide, I think rather than our approval rating mattering we're just going to be shunted into a wildly different place where it doesn't.

Now, Jason Schreier and Yongyea had a disussion video posted from Yongyea's channel, and spoiler alert Jason basically has the upper hand in the majority of the stream minus when Yongyea ask why he was being offensive on Twitter... problem in this video is how Jason has the most talking time, I know I know he knows more stuff than Yongyea but I think he should give Yongyea more time to explain why gamers are disliking his recent opinions.

The catch is, this stream outright shows that Jason is really just deeming gamer in general do nothing but "rage", as a game journalist who already has their article posted on Kotaku for years he should know that this is the Internet is... not everyone is going to be as informative as Jason, but not everyone is rational either.

And him saying people shouldn't "rage" or get mad at Assasins Creed Odyssey's microtransactions because there's many great games this gen, sums up his attitude towards the community... and his standards... this is a bit of like "there are two restaurants one is notorious for bad cuisines so it is right for us to trash it, another is great and has least bad food so we shouldn't get mad at that restaurant whenever we are unhappy about its service".
