this also means the death or project M online outside the rick people who can afford to get powerful gaming rigs to continue PM over dolphin netplay

though mariokart wii isnt going anywhere, we are working on a custom server and a hack to the netcode to use our new custom server, and i suggest the PMBR do the same for their mod too if they want their wifi installbase to not shrink

The Wi-fi version of project m is dead but not the non wi-fi version.

(The good news of that is the no wi-fi project m is better)

This is probably why people talk so much **** on Nntendo.

And don't give me that "BUT THE X-BOX DID IT."

No, you see. First off, I hate X-Box. But it's non comparable in who handled it better. Microsoft closed down their first online play FIVE YEARS after the release of 360.

They're closing down their online servers after a year of the Wii U's release?

Damn it Nintendo, it's SO hard to love you.

look up gamespy's history,

nintendo does NOT own the service used by the DS and wii games

a service called gamespy was used to do matchmaking

glu mobile who hates nintendo bought this service out and jacked up prices and without warning, shut down match making for every game except nintendo (because of a contract that didnt expire yet)

nintendo NETWORK (the miiverse and wiiU /3DS wifi) ISSSS owned by nintendo internally

if you need further proof, go in hex edit and open brawl's main.dol

you will find the flooiwing URLs where the game's netcode (online params) is:

gpcm.gs.nintendowifi.net
gpsp.gs.nintendowifi.net
gamestats.gs.nintendowifi.net
gamestats2.gs.nintendowifi.net

smashbrosxwii.available.gs.nintendowifi.net
smashbrosxwii.natneg1.gs.nintendowifi.net
smashbrosxwii.natneg2.gs.nintendowifi.net
smashbrosxwii.natneg3.gs.nintendowifi.net
smashbrosxwii.master.gs.nintendowifi.net
smashbrosxwii.gamestats.gs.nintendowifi.net
smashbrosxwii.gamestats2.gs.nintendowifi.net
smashbrosxwii.ms11.gs.nintendowifi.net
naswii.nintendowifi.net

the same gs.nintendowifi url can be found in games like mariokart wii and strikers charged

if you DONT know wht the GS part stands for , its gamespy, a matchmaking service

to make mattters worse, glu mobile wont give nintendo the sourcecode forhow the matchmaking worked because they want to kill nintendo in a mean way

you guys who HAVE a brain will have to make your own server and then hack the gmae (you cant do it with GECKO like everyone feels the need to mod stuff through first THEN files)
to connect to this new server

I know, rocket science to a community like this

And NOOOOOO they ccant just update the game, because its disc hard coded, they'd have to RESELL us the games and nintendo is focused on 3ds and wiiU now,

wii and ds is legacy hardware, it belongs to US now to do whatever the hell we want with it now

It's a shame a brain doesn't bring respect.

this stinks. I don't have much spare time to wheel and deal so now I have to port all my stuff up to gen 6 to trade over the net now

Despite how bad Wi-Fi might have been, it was the first time I've ever played online in a game. I had lots of fun playing online games on the Wii; even for Brawl despite how horrible the online was.

R.I.P. Wi-Fi 2007-2014.
