I don't know if we'll see more modern characters outside of additional TLH reps, unless the devs are willing to add 3rd Party fighters. Aside from TLH hardly any modern shows have reached the levels of success as the older shows, except if they're based on an already existing IP.

And Garfield is even older than that. The very first Garfield comic strip was published all the way back in 1976, although it didn't bear his name until 1978. He's older than every single playable fighter in Smash Bros., as Smash's oldest fighters Mr. Game & Watch and Pac-Man didn't make their first appearances until 1980.

This is more about the 90's and 00's characters, so I expect them for a LONG time. 10's and 20's we can expect more by ASB 4/5

Not sure how well the show is doing but I liked what I saw of Middlemost Post, I'd be open to that being included. And The Barbarian and the Troll depending on how they feel about puppet shows in their sticking to Nicktoons besides the Double Dare stage.
