Due to SNK's increased friendlyness with Nintendo (Metal Slug Anthology is in the launch window for Wii), I expect to have at least one of SNK's awsome characters in SSBB. My personal favorite will have to be Marco, the protaganist from the Metal Slug Series. Him and his adventure took a good fortune of quarters from me in my day, and the character I grew up with would be incredible on the Wii. He is better suited in the game than other "modern, tactical" characters such as Snake because he is just as cartoony than anything from Nintendo's crazy head. I've even prepared a wonderful moveset for you fellow fans!

A- Regular Knife attack
Over A- Headbutt
Up A- Knife up
Down A- Spin
Dash A- Quick Knife

Aerial A- Midair punch
Aerial Up A- Homing rocket upward (similiar to Zelda's aerial up-A)
Aerial Down A- Foot Stomp

Smash A- Strong Knife Jab
Smash Down A- Claymore explodes on ground
Smash Up A-

B- Machine gun (hold down until runs out of "ammo", similiar to Bowser's fire breath)
Over B- Throws a grenade (wide arc like the Metal Slug games)
Down B- Plants a bomb that goes off at 5 seconds
Up B- High-Jump

Special= Gets into the tank and fires a storm of cheezy, over-the-top particle-gunfire goodness.

*sigh*...Will this insanity ever stop?

I say no,even though they meet the requierments,it still must say no.
Why? Metal Slug is awesome. It's also a flagship SNK series, and has recognisable, beloved characters. Although I would have though Fio would be a good one to put in, given her popularity and visibility in SNK Vs. games.

yea im going to go with EPF on this one. SNK is more of a Capcom fighting thing where u use rotations and such, ppl who play those type of games know what im talking about. so just no.

Well, for one thing, SNK is it's own company separate from Capcom, and for another thing, Metal Slug isn't a fighting game. It's an action-platformer, more like Contra, except much funnier. Metal Slug characters HAVE appeared in SNK fighters (Most notably Fio and the Metal Slug tank itself) But thats not where they are most popular.

Also, I play those kinds of game, and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Seriousely, Metal Slug is a great place to draw a character from. The guns and knives are cartoonish, the bullets are slow, the tone is awesomely tongue-in-cheek, it's been on a Nintendo system (In fact, it's very prominent on a Nintendo System right now. It's got a Launch title on the Wii), and it's a pretty famous video game series. Why the hell NOT Metal Slug!?

dotdotdot what i was trying to say about the fighting snk games is that u do a rotation like down, downforward, forward + punch or kick. Smash doesn't have that.

Smash doesn't have that.
Neither does Metal Slug. It's not a fighting game. That's a stupid reason to deny Metal Slug characters. That's like saying "No Megaman" because Capcom made Street Fighter, or saying "No Mario" because Nintendo made Joy Mech Fight. Thats right! Nintendo made a 1-on-1 Fighting game with "Rotations". That means by your logic, Mario, Link, Samus and nearly ALL the characters from Nintendo canon are now unable to compete in Smash Bros.

Just because a game was at launch doesn't mean a character deserves to be in Brawl. I think more characters deserve to be in before him. except Snake who had no point being in.
Well of course there are more likely competitors. Nobody has said that it's a sure bet that Metal Slug will be repped, They've only said "Hey, wouldn't these guys be cool."

And if you want to talk about having "No point" Remember. This is a video game, and a crossover video game at that. Having no point is almost the point in itself. If you seriousely think Smash Bros is serious business you really need to get a new hobby.

Oh. And long live Olimar.

Yeah had to see this cmong sooner or l8r... since MS is mostly about guns, and Sakurai said no earthly weapons, u can pretty much forget him seeing him in brawl, not to mention he aint exactly popular...

I'm inclined to think that guns that shoot the notorious "slow bullets" from Metal Slug would be okay, plus, failing that, there's enough non-gun weaponry in MS that you could make movesets featuring the various Rocket launchers and grenades and things. (And don't you dare say "Snake clone" or I can't garauntee your safety)

Mario, Link, and Samus has already been in smash since the beginning so thats a no brainer, as for this nintendo rotation game u speak of, did it come out for japan or something cuz i never heard of it. MS isn't a rotation game its true but the fact that someone is going to be using gernades and launchers already(im not saying who) might increase the chances of marco not making it in brawl.

P.S. thanks for supporting olimar, im gonna master him like theres no tomorrow, if he's in it that is.

Joy Mech Fight. Its an NES 1-on-1 fighter that indeed only came out in Japan, but it is still a Fighting game with "Rotations" (I really wish we'd stop calling them that, it's so stupid-sounding) made by Nintendo, and thus proves that if a company has a fighting game series under it's belt, that shouldn't ban other properties belonging to that company from participating.

And once again, nobody is saying MS chars are at all likely, I'm just saying that they would make a fine example of a character IF they were to get in.

You do have a point with Snake, although we've only really seen one of his moves(His rocket launcher), so that still leaves some things open to interperetation by MArco or the rest of the MS gang. F'rinstance, MS Rocket launchers are very big and unwieldy and are also homing, and MS grenades are more modelled after WW1 potato Mashers than the more modern ones Snake is bound to have. Not to mention the fact that MS characters have several different "Modes" to take into account (The various vehicle modes, Jetpacks, Zombie mode, Fat mode, Monkey mode etc.). The more I think of it, the more I begin to see more possibilities unfold.

One of the best ideas I heard from the boards in a while. Metal Slug is such a great series, plus the fact he can basically write his own moveset from Metal Slug moveset only sweetens the deal. Kudos, and I support Marco.

not likely w/o a doubt
would i support it yes

anyone who whines about fighting game characters should really just stop its probably the most immature argument i've heard--i admit tho i'd be happier if he was an assist who started running from left to right shooting and slashing as well their other crazy weaponry

and guys instead of street fighter type or rotation why dont you try terms such as traditional or classic instead??
