[RECORD SCRATCH] Freeze frame.

Yup, that's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up as a spirit in Smash; well, it's a long story. It all started when this game called SMT 5 was announced for the Switch back in 2017.

All jokes aside, do you think the fact that SMT games usually have the fighting/killing of religious gods, including [Record Scratch] may hold back Nintendo from adding it to Smash? Nintendo usually tries to keep religion in their games to a minimum, and SMT is pretty heavy handed with that stuff. And not like Persona either, because I think there's a big difference between the two even.

So basically like a Saber situation where the content of their origin games might make Nintendo averse to adding it to Smash? The character wouldn't bring that stuff to Smash, but some people are bound to throw a fit saying how it's "offensive".

Now I personally think that characters like Saber and a SMT rep are on the table, because their franchises span way further than just those things/games. But I know others may not feel the same way.
We already have the words 'God' 'Heaven' 'Hell' 'Holy' 'Angel' and 'Demon' with Grand Cross being very blatant Christian imagery. This isn't the 80's anymore, they can get away with it, as for your Saber example, the series hasn't had official porn in well over a decade, not to mention Nintendo promoted Bayonetta 2 by hiring porn stars to cosplay as Bayonetta in Playboy iirc

Considering that
a high point in the story ends with Joker literally summoning Satan and shooting God in the head
I think we're okay.

Pokemon i would love to see represented in smash:

There is one common theme in all of them... can you guess which is?

Well that makes it pretty clear. Saber and Demi-fiend are clearly hard locks at this point.

I actually

don't think summoning Satan to kill Yaldabaoth is on the same level as something like killing Krishna or Yahweh. But it's still pretty high up there.

I think that's a fair point, but I also think that this shows precedent for Sakurai being able to incorporate characters whose games deal with heavier themes like that while sidestepping the more controversial aspects of them, at least when it comes to playable inclusion.

I mean. One of Nintendo's major IPs, including it's latest installment which found great success on the Switch, has a surprising amount of sexual assault in the series. ****ing Fire Emblem man, even Three Houses says that multiple character almost became **** victims

With Shin Megami Tensei Religion and Religious Themes are baked into the franchises DNA. Persona does have religious content in the game in fact I think there was a controversy in India due to the fact that an Indian deity appears in the game. With Fate IIRC only the first release of the first game had the problem content in it.

The big thing that destroys this theory is Bayonetta, Not only is Bayonetta from a risque game but it also has a ton of religious symbols and themes in it

Also Castlevania has the 2 characters literally throwing Crosses and Holy Water

Now wouldn’t this be great if smash ultimate ended like this?

you got a mix of fan fave & iconic series represented in a smash game the total would be 39 all together. this is a big crossover right here and I hope this is the case.

I'd be down for any Pokemon but Urshifu or a Galar Starter. Pokemon is filled to the brim with things you can't get anywhere else, go with one of them instead Bear Ryu or Baboom.

Yeah, religious themes aren't a problem. Castlevania has that too, Simon and Richter throw crosses and holy water at people.

I don't give a **** what any one says, I'm a big Pokemon fan and would be happy if we got another Pokemon whether it's from a previous gen (Unlikely) or Gen 8 (Hoping for Inteleon).

Isn't it funny how all "classic" or "masterpiece" JRPGs start you off doing some peaceful **** in like a town or in school and then all of a sudden you have a strange urge to ****ing murder God in cold blood?

If we don't get a Pokemon as CP7/8, I genuinely think there's a good chance of it being an older Pokemon. If this is the case, my money's on Mimikyu, because according to the Google Poll it's the most popular Pokemon not yet in Smash.

You can tell Trapezium got hacked because this doesn't say Cortez
I wanted to but Cortez doesn't appear in the first TimeSplitters game... So close, yet so far...

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire first released in 2002 in Japan.

You could replace this statement with Fire Emblem and nothing changes at the end of the day. :nifty:

Even if that were true and Pokemon fans ended up being the only ones happy with a new Pokemon, we're still talking about the biggest and most profitable franchise in the world.

The new Pokemon probably wouldn't be the highlight of the pass, but I also think it's backed by enough widespread appeal to prevent it from being absolutely hated. Incineroar had plenty of reasons to be despised, but most people didn't seem to lash out at it like I expected. People accepted it fairly quickly.
