Something else regarding the security for each third party in Smash, because why the heck not: all third party companies in Smash so far had at least one character leaked.
Konami: was one of the first characters that Vergeben leaked for Ultimate.
Sega: was apparently leaked by two different people, going as far as to have the release date for his trailer listed.
Capcom: was found via datamine and was also leaked by Vergeben
Namco: was part of the Gematsu leaks.
Square: is arguably one of the worst kept secrets in the history of Smash and they were first hinted at by Vergeben all the way back in Ultimate's reveal.
Microsoft: were leaked by Shinobi, but there were whispers about them through the internet some time beforehand.
SNK: - though in all fairness it was NOE's fault for mismanaging the site.

All things considered, I do think it's likely that CP5 is from a company (or subdivision of a company) that hasn't had many leaks beforehand and is good at covering their tracks.

Now there's two maintenance windows scheduled for next week, with one being on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday. (Gee, I wonder if it's because of some shadow drops...), plus there was a stealth Sword and Shield maintenance today that I didn't see anybody bring up.

Unless they really throw us a loop, we're not getting anything until after the amiibo release (20th at the earliest). If we were getting a character before then, why not patch the game for Dark Samus/Richter amiibo support at the same time we were getting a character instead of making people download two separate patches so close together?

Well, the Pokemon Direct turned out better than expected. A Pokemon Mystery Dungeon remake on the Switch is good. I would have preferred a new installment, but maybe they're testing the waters first. At least now I can be comfortable that PMD isn't dying anytime soon. The expansion pass... whoo boy. I wasn't expecting that. It would have been better if the base games were delayed so this content could be added without costing more, but at least it's less of a cashgrab than releasing "enhanced" versions like USUM, so that's good I suppose. Obviously FP5 wasn't revealed. Hopefully it will be revealed this month.

This is completely out of the blue but if I wanted a 3rd party that was represented by just stage and music, I would pick Civilization.

I'm just listening to the soundtrack and just thought of it. Like a flying through a Civ map through the ages and you go into a city in ancient times and then in modern times, fighting through building of monuments and war and stuff.

Not in a thousand timelines it would happen but I just had a brain blast of it.

I'm glad I'm not the only person whose thought of this, Nintendo is no stranger to the Civ franchise either , from the SNES back in the day all the way to the Switch today. The Civ series was instrumental in fostering an interest in history for me and is one of my all time favor series.

Gandhi jokes aside Civ doesn’t lend itself to a character, but stage would be really cool, I imagine it would have that the background be like blank parchment like the fog of war in Civ 6. As the stages goes on, new buildings and wonders would start popping up, first the outline appearing and then getting actually built and colored in, much like Civ 4 wonders.

The stage would start as a basic flat-stage, with a simple ancient city in the back, but it will begin to grow bigger and have more features as the eras progress. The ancient city has the Pyramids of Giza appears, then it advances to the classical era and the Colosseum of Rome appears. Then the Taj Mahal, then the Effiel Tower. Eventually when it reaches the modern era and stays there for awhile, the buildings all turn back into their outline form and are erased, staring back at the modest ancient city.

I could see them adding the stage and two songs, Songo di Volare and Baba Yetu to the misc section of music so you can play a plethora of songs on the stage and play the civ music on any misc stage.

Seriously though Baba Yetu is actually one of my all time favorite songs, did you know it's the only video game song to ever be nominated and win a Grammy?

For Spirits it would be kind of weird to have actual historical figures, but you can definitely do things to represent the unique aspects of civ as a franchise.
Namely the Settler (Who can be enchanced into a City spirit) and the Giant Death Robot

Thought about doing a spirit for the advisers, but it’s hard to capture that old FMV goodness with just an image.
