Mario Kart Wii were IMO better. More realistic and not so... duck-sounding.

Or should they be "voiceless?"

:phone:
I don't like it. I have a voice. That stupid "YAAAAAAAAAY!" is not my voice. Why is my version of myself screaming like a some pedophile talking to kids!? Argh, I hate it!

MK7's "voice" gives them a more Nintendo-y touch. I like it.

EDIT: One of Mii's aerials should be one of the poses of this Wii Play minigame:

Sakurai said that he had misgivings about putting Mii in Brawl, however, I think a big reason was that he did not give them much thought. Miis did not become a huge phenomenon until 2007 long after Sakurai had finalized Brawl's roster.

The argument of "they can't fight" or "they don't have a fighting nature" does not apply to them if you even look at their first game appearance (boxing in Wii Sports). However, there is the argument that they are not real characters and that there is not much distinctive about them.

However, considering that they were even made as regulars in the Mario Kart series (as well as other Mario spinoffs) and even were playable characters in a 2D Mario tech demo, I think it would be awkward for them not to be included even if they have a "casual aura" like Sakurai thinks they do.
When did Sakurai say this?

Alll jokes aside, Mii's are PROBABLY gonna get in. I mean, c'mon now, they even made it in Mario Kart 7. Would be really strange for them not to be in Smash in some kind of way
Note they made it in MK Wii, too. This is not the first time they hit racing. They also made an appearence in the M&S Series, which is huge, alone. Also, they made it in the new Mario game, if I'm correct.

I'm trying to like Miis, but I wanna see a more "Realistic" Mii, like the avatars on the XBox360, but more Nintendo-like, if you get what I mean.

I'm just looking on Wikipedia aaand... I guess Nintendo owns Brain Age, right? Apparently that series has more sales than Kirby. This (Well... I've been playing a lot of Sudoku on that game lately too) also reminds me, Dr. Kawashima was on Sakurai's poll, yeah? Yet he's not in Brawl at all. Not even a sticker! He's clear Assist Trophy material... and I think, maybe he's one of the characters they had legal trouble with? Since he's an actual PERSON, isn't he?

ANYWAY... According to Wikipedia:

Mario - 432
Pokemon - 215
Wii Series - 190
Zelda - 65
Donkey Kong - 49
Brain Age - 31
Kirby - 30
Nintendogs - 21
Smash - 21
Metroid - 14

(in millions)

Basically, Mario is god-tier in terms of sales.
Wait, why is Brain Age that high? Could it be that... it's actually popular? Wow... I thought it sucked, but I guess opinions have their worths.

The argument of "they can't fight" or "they don't have a fighting nature" does not apply to them if you even look at their first game appearance (boxing in Wii Sports). However, there is the argument that they are not real characters and that there is not much distinctive about them.
Well, I, for one, do not agree with that. Miis have so much personality, moreso than Nintendogs, in my opinion. They're, like, the emotional mascot of the Wii and I assume the 3DS.

Making a moveset for the Mii is like the easiest thing in the world.
Yeah, if you think you can't...

How? What attacks/weapons do they have?
...I'm leaving this one alone.

I want Mii's in so that me and Omega can have that Mii Goku and Mii Vegeta fight we talked about a while back
I have an Indiana Jones and YLink Miis. I'll just have IJ face off all the characters, but mainly Link.

Detective VS Detective.

When did Sakurai say this?
Sakurai has said two things about the Miis that make me think they might not show up in Smash 4:

"When they’re all lined up like this, it becomes obvious that there is roughly 6-year blank before and after Pikmin. While there have been big series since then like "Animal Crossing," "Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day," and "Wii Sports" it does seem that coming up with a completely new character-driven series has gotten more difficult recently."

Of course, I think there was a possibility of taking Smash Bros. in a more casual-gaming direction. For example, we could make the art style simpler or make it possible to use Miis. However, with the various titles that the Wii was to offer, I felt that people were looking for something different. That’s the reason I decided in very early stages of development that the Wii pointer and motion movements would not be a primary feature of the game.

DAMN

I'm JUST remembering now that Rare was the one behind Killer Instinct

I've wanted Conker in Smash before (and Banjo-Kazooie would be badass, too), but now I want Fulgore in Smash

It's so ridiculous why he only sees Pikmin as the only "new series" Nintendo made but he can't still see we HAD new game series that would've made great playables. Golden Sun? Starfy? Punch-Out? /Okay, the third one doesn't much count back then but/

It's so damn dumb he still shafted the new series to be just Assist Trophies and even still says that there's been no new series since Pikmin. /facepalm/

So now what? Since it's REALLY been a long time since we got any new IP from Nintendo which was successful, will this mean we just get no new series reps, instead just more expanding on already represented series?

/He better look for the series he shafted to smaller roles before before really scraping the bottom of the barrel./

LOL. Nice one, yuske. You should've used the picture with it, though

Isaac, Saki, Samurai Goroh, Lyn and mah boi Little Mac would all be sexy choices to upgrade from AT to playable status

But really, Sakurai needs to see how much potential the other series of Nintendo has. From seeing his recent ramblings on new franchises from the IGN-interview, he's almost thinking of scraping the bottom of the barrel now.

I forgot about that first quote/never really paid much attention to it.

Ah well, I wasn't going to bet on Miis anyway just due to a hunch I have. I still really want a Wii Sports Resort stage, however.

Seems to almost say he wont add them. Not to say he wont, but you know.

I'm not sure I would consider a crossover like Smash a spin-off

It's not like it's directly tied to just one or maybe two series a la the Mario Kart series, it's about Nintendo as a whole (and, uhhh, Sega and Konami)

The only reason why I think Sakurai might give Miis a second look this time is due to how much a phenomenon they have become.

You've earned disrespect, Sir.
I'm not speaking from personal want. The facts have earned disrespect, not me.

Waluigi is fairly popular and appears in all modern Mario spinoffs. Smash Bros is very clearly a Mario spin-off: It is called Smash Bros, has no real plot, and merges a bunch of characters that would otherwise be doing their own thing. Just like Mario Party/Kart/Slugger/etc etc.

miis definetly have personality and moveset potentials, but Sakurai wanted SSB4 to be aimed toward core gamers. I guess this means a more of a Melee type game. Mii's are extremely casual game characters. Oh yeah this is random but I hope we at least get Wavedashing and L-Canceling back, that made a big part of Luigi's, Link's, and Ganondorf's metagame.

GOD I hate Gamefaqs now.

There's this topic in Smash Bros Wii U-boards that made go into a nasty trap of censored Palutena Rule 34 with DEM CARROTS from the SHAFT-anime.

Considering waluigi is the most disliked mario character, I don't see him getting in so easily. (Personally, I dont have a big problem with waluigi, but his reception as a whole was terrible.)

What if Waluigi were one of the boss ghosts? I'd laugh if he were one of the boss ghosts
Ha ha thats grand. Waluigi..... I would lawl.

Luigi's mansion with Waluigi sounds jacked up.

However i wouldnt have a problem with waluigi having a bigger role in games instead of just tennis and party.

I'd be surprised if all the humanoid Assist Trophies don't become playable.
I only expect / really want Isaac and Little Mac from the Assist Thropies. Starfy might be cool to, but I don't know much about his series. All the others I don't see as very likely at all.

Especially not Waluigi. :smirk:
