Could you let go of lucario? Can't imagine a new SSB without him now.
Well, if Lucario is kept in Smash 4, then I see no need to include Zoroark, which would be similar (I think). But since I don't expect that there will be more than 50 characters, some sacrifices have to be made in order to include some new and interesting characters.

Oh God, MORE people that think Lucario replaced Mewtwo, even one that thinks Zoroark is anything like Lucario....

Its worth noting again that the new SSB won't play like brawl. It could also mean more or less characters depending on how the gameplay is. A single character could have alot more to do now then in brawl ect.

Well, Zoroark is similar to Lucario in terms of design and shape. I must admit though that I don't know how Zoroark fights like.

True, as we still don't know much about Smash 4. For now, I'll stick with what Sakurai has done for the past Smash Bros. games.

Look. At. All. The. Freshies.

I mean, I'm no veteran on these boards by any standards, but wow. This board's population is growing quite a bit.

@Jakor Really, the only way the two are similar in design is that they're both canine-ish. Zoroark is more of a fox, and Lucario is more dog-lookin' (also, unless I'm mistaken, Lucario is smaller). Other than that, they're totally aesthetically different.

As for the way they fight, they might as well be polar opposites.

Zoroark is a feral tooth-to-claw fighter like Wolf, rather than a hand-to-hand combat fighter like Lucario.

Sure seems to be. :)

This will probably be the same case as Brawl for me in terms of playing the release: play at the community center and friends houses, then get a Wii U 2-3 years after it has come out. =P

Unless the series gets a complete overhaul, like making it a 3D fighter or something, I hope they are not going to be making cuts. At least not a lot of cuts. This article from IGN last year suggests getting rid of some characters like Ike and Wario, but that screws over players that mained those characters.

A lot of fighting games in the past few years have had 50 or more characters, I think Smash still has a ways to go before we need to start making major cuts.

Well, they are still both humanoid shaped. And if Zoroark does play like Wolf, than I think another Pokemon rep should be added instead. What would be best between Eevee, Deoxys, Victini, Meowth, the Team Rocket, or a Female Pokemon Trainer?

You talk about what he has done for past smash bros games, But he said he wants to change from that. This post in the end probly has the same meaning as my last, But what we need to expect at this point is that it will not play like brawl.

When you say change do you mean like the change from Melee to Brawl, or a completely new fighting system?

By getting Team Rocket, we would also get Meowth. I've seen quite a few people that support Meowth for Smash 4.

Eevee could have an interesting concept too. Like each time you use special down B, you become one of his several evolutions. You start as Eevee, then can change into Flareon, Vapereon, etc. as you wish.

I'm not quite sure, But I think it means a revamped fighting system. I don't know what else to take from it when he says he doesn't want it to play like brawl.

Eevee, I'd be fine with, as long as it's like Vee from Pokemon Adventures and can temporarily turn into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon to attack.
However, it's not 5th Gen.
Deoxys is humanoid shaped, another Psychic type like Mewtwo, and isn't 5th Gen.
Victini, just no. asage have single-handedly managed to make me hate the idea of that rat with butt wings being playable.
Meowth, not a 5th Gen.
Team Rocket, only in one game (Yellow). Puzzle League doesn't count, as it's a game for the anime. Would also copy Pokemon Trainer. Also not 5th Gen.
"Female" Trainer can just be an alt for the Trainer we got.

Now, Genesect would be a better choice. Not similar at all to Mewtwo, Lucario, or Zoroark.

Evee would play like a mega zelda, And maybe team rocket could be 3 characters? like ice climbers but more diverse in attacks instead of just mimicing 1 attack. They do something different for 1 attack ect.

I actually wouldn't mind a little revamping. The series is over 10 years old now, it could use a fresh perspective. Speaking of which, didn't Sakurai originally say that Brawl was going to be the last Smash Bros. that he worked on?

If Sakurai pays any attention to Project M maybe he will make SSB4 play more like Melee.

Hmm... interesting. Is Genesect popular though? And does the new Pokemon rep necessarily has to be from 5th Gen?

Yeah, they do have a lot of potential of being a unique character.

If King K. Rool gets in (I will be suprised if he doesn't) I wonder how big he will be? His size, like Bowser, changes from game to game.

Speaking of DK, I hope we get a new DK stage that isn't just a jungle again. We get, he's an ape, he lives in the jungle. There have been plenty of other stages from the games to choose from, let's mix it up a bit!

I would expect Rool to have relatively the same size proportions he had in Super Sluggers..being around the size of Bowser.

Yeah, I expect King K. Rool to be about the same size as Bowser. And I would be shocked if he end up not being playable in Smash 4. He deserves to be and having more vilains is always a great thing.

Let's hope Ridley gets in too.

They can always resize Ridley to make him fit. They've resized a lot of characters already, like Olimar, the Pokemon, Bowser, etc.

For new stages it would be neat to see some of the larger and memorable areas from the Galaxy series; either the Starship [G2] or the floating observatory [G].

I'd like to have a Galaxy stage where they take the concept of the gravity. For example, the fight starts on a planet, then a new planet with a different layout comes along and the players get attracted to it and continue the fight on the new one.

Yeah, that's the problem. I want Ridley as much as everyone else, but how do you make him balanced? Sakurai suggested that if they included him they would have to make him slow. And slow doesn't seem very true to his character. And I wouldn't want them to shrink him down to his Metroid 1 size.

Maybe they should just except that he will be broken and just ban him from tournaments.

Ridley would be lighter than Bowser or King Dedede, so that.

Genesect is not as popular of a choice as Zoroark or Victini, but it's quite popular after them, especially considering that it hasn't been officially revealed yet.
Like how Lucario debuted 1 year after Brawl started development, Genesect will debut next year, a year after Sm4sh's development.
And The Pokemon Company likes to advertise, as they were the ones that made sure Lucario was in Brawl. It would be very likely they would do the same for a 5th Gen.

That would be neat indeed. I can foresee issues however with combos and whatnot being interrupted by that transition process, causing angry players.

Maybe he'll be in there again as a boss. :)

And Ganondorf fighting like Captain Falcon is true to his character?
Or Mewtwo being a lightweight while weighing over 200lbs?

Anyways, Ridley has been "slow" before. I mean, looking at various fights with him on YouTube, he doesn't seem all that fast.

Technically Lucario was revealed in Febuary 2005, Brawl's development started in October 2005. Diamond and Pearl Versions were also announced in late 2004.

Agreed Kolorado

Metroid also needs a new type of stage in Smash 4 (meaning one WITHOUT rising lava, Sakurai)

:phone:
Perhaps the area Samus and Dark Samus fought in there final battle in metroid prime 2 echoes? Its in a darkness world and "SPOILERS" You had a certain time limit to defeat dark samus before you were sealed in and died.

Hmm... I think I'll consider him. Victini still seems more interesting to me though. And there hasn't been a Pokemon from the 3rd Gen yet, so Deoxys could be interesting for that.
