I started Smash with Melee, and I honestly didn't know that many characters.
It was just a fun game with Pokemon (which was big in my childhood), including my favorite (at the time, and debateably tied with Entei now), Mewtwo. I only saw Mewtwo was in it the second time I played it at a friend's house, and I was hooked.

Him wanting a crapton of cuts and wanting Meowth to have three versions of Pay Day are two reasons why I can't take Arcadenik seriously.
Whatever. I am not here to seek approval, praise, or validation for my opinions regarding Smash from you or anyone. That's why I don't have any Toise Tokens or whatever it is you guys collect to grow your e-penis. This is the Internet after all. My opinions are just as worth as yours, which is nothing. Only Sakurai's opinions matter, not ours. I am here to discuss Smash and post my Smash wishlist.

I can't take anything seriously ever... :troll:
...especially you serious folks.

At least Arcadenik gives a different (although I must admit odd) point of view and (mostly) isn't a troll. This guy I used to debate with Wiseguy felt that most of the Melee newcomers would be cut. Dr. Mario, Sheik, Young Link (replaced by "cel-shaded Link"), Ganondorf (well, his moveset anyways), Mewtwo (maybe), Pichu, Ness (on the edge), the Ice Climbers, Mr. G&W (maybe), Roy, and Marth (maybe). Wiseguy's ideas were actually shared by quite a number of speculators back then in the pre-Brawl times. I back then was new to specualtion, so I got my stuff together quickly. He became my friendly rival back then. :)

I remember back then so many people wanted G&W and the Ice Climbers cut for some reason. So hearing Arcadenik's point of view is a bit of a flashback to me! It's like watching a player in a particular sport who plays like everyone use to 50 years ago. It's fun if it's a few people, but too many people making it friggen annoying! :chuckle:

I ain't gonna be one of those retro acts, even when I get all old and wrinkles with smash speculation. I'm gonna be on the cutting edge with mah bread! :smirk: :falcobrawl:

You guys should see me in my Political Science class. Poor GoldenY, must've sucked knowing Entei was a stage as a trophy but you could never unlock that stage. Though, wasn't there an Entei in Poké Floats?? Can't remember.

I don't go to school no more, so I can't tell any cool stories lol

And actually, Sheik indeed should've been gone. There where quite some people thinking so pre BRAWL, so I kinda wonder where they went now. Not into wonderful Impa land for sure.

Anyone wanna debate some Anthony Higgs? I wanna debate some Anthony Higgs. That's if, if you remember him of coarse.

(and reappear with a sword)
, Mewtwo could be cut, Pichu would be gone, Ness wouldn't return, the Ice Climbers were out, Mr. Game and Watch was on the fence, Roy was out, and Marth was on the slicing board according to him. Entei I think was on Poké Floats.

@ Star
Which part in particular=??? (Was it about America=???) Actually my last class I kept referring to the new leader of North Korea as "the fat kid from UP."

@ Diddy
My debate: He's made by Team Ninja, he's in the least popular Metroid game since at least Prime Hunter and Pinball if not all the way back to Metroid II, and I had no idea who the heck he was until you brought him up! I think most smash bros fans and potential smash bros fans are probably the same way! :chuckle:

Meanwhile the more sober ones where infact predicting right that it would be Dr.Mario, Pichu, Young Link and Roy who would be gone for Brawl. I was just one who said Sheik also should be gone amongst them. And I always said I wanted Roy to stay, but Ike would make a good replacement.

And just a question: would y'all take Mewtwo back in Brawl, for the cost of Sheik?

I would. :scared:

John: Other M might not be as popular as the Prime Triology, but Nintendo did put a lot of effort into the game. Jungle Beat also wasn't received well, yet we did get a stage from it for Brawl. They easily could've gone for a newer DKC stage akin to DKC2, because Diddy was a newcomer (better yet: planned with Dixie).

And besides Ridley, there really aren't many other different Metroid candidates who hold a lasting importance to Metroid. Safe Kraid maybe, but who in their right mind would want Kraid? He's too big man... :smirk:
As in: really...

Anthony might become more prominent in the future Metroid games, and he was quite important in Other M. He basically stole the role from Adam who everyone was excited about to finally see in real person. Guess he couldn't handle his manliness. But to be honest, who could?

I dunno about the cost of Sheik. They're both pretty even to me in terms of movesets. I like Mewtwo as a character more, but Sheik is a lot more fun to fight against in Melee. Sheik players always give me a great challenge... of which I usually conquer! :smirk:

I actually initially felt no one should be cut (as you remember Diddy Kong, as I quoted you with one of my first three or so posts).

I later changed my stance to Dr. Mario (although Mario should absorb his play style since it was superior to Mario's Melee play style; I also felt Mario should play more like his 64 self) and Pichu should be the only cuts. Meanwhile Young Link should be upgraded into "cel-shaded Young Link." I did, however, feel that Roy was probably going to be cut, but I never would have expected Mewtwo being cut until the person who runs Serebii.net relayed that they had gathered that Lucario was in, and Mewtwo was out. :(

Now I kind of retract my opinions on Dr. Mario and Pichu. I wouldn't mind an ultimate gamble character in Pichu (with new original moves), or a new and original Dr. Mario.

Right behind you with a knife.
So anyways, I think I mentioned a while ago about the idea to make a Yoshi stages based around essentially World 3 from Yoshi's Islands. You know have it be based off of Monkey's Favorite Lake or Nep-Enut's Domain.

Essentially there would be about two main platforms, with water on both sides and water in the middle separating them. Occasionally, a Nep-Enut would rise up from either the left, right or center, and act as a hazard slash barrier. You could swim in the water, and swim off the side, as well. In addition, there would be vines hanging down that could be climbed on, and occasionally would have Grinders (The Monkeys from Yoshis's Island) climbing on them and spitting watermelon seeds. Essentially the layout would be like this

--x-------------x-------------x--
--x-------------x-------------x--
--x-------------x-------------x--
--x-------------x-------------x--
____~~~~~___~~~~~____
oooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooo

The ___ is the surface of the water, the ~~~~ is basically the solid ground, and the x's are the vines. Of course the proportions would have to be adjusted.

Outside of the more obvious Yoshis's Island themes, I'm curious as to what others would consider good music choices for a stage like this.

Back then, Entei wasn't big for me. I mean, I liked Entei and all, but nothing beat out Mewtwo.
It wasn't until I got Pokemon Colosseum, and the Entei you snag became my main Pokemon, as well as seeing "Yuiitusin" on MUGEN (Where I got my name from) that Entei became major for me.

And no, there was no Entei balloon on Poke Floats, sadly...

Glad to finally see you post your Yoshi's Island World 3 stage idea! :)
John: Other M might not be as popular as the Prime Triology, but Nintendo did put a lot of effort into the game. Jungle Beat also wasn't received well, yet we did get a stage from it for Brawl. Getting a stage and a character are totally different. Jungle Beat was pretty well received by non-DKC fans. Other M wasn't really played by non-Metroid fans.
And besides Ridley, there really aren't many other different Metroid candidates who hold a lasting importance to Metroid. Safe Kraid maybe, but who in their right mind would want Kraid? He's too big man... :smirk:
As in: really...
Why would we need another Metroid character=??? Ridley and Samus are the only staples. Kraid is in what=??? Two or three Metroid games. The same goes for Dark Samus. The same goes for Anthony, Adam, and anyone that isn't Ridley, Samus, or Mother Brain, who sure as heck won't be playable.
Anthony might become more prominent in the future Metroid games, and he was quite important in Other M. He basically stole the role from Adam who everyone was excited about to finally see in real person.
He might, but so far, he hasn't. He was an important supporting character in one game. Let's hold the phone before we're all in on him being playable in Smash.
Guess he couldn't handle his manliness. But to be honest, who could?

Pieman, I love the idea of Nep-Enut's Domain being Yoshi's new stage. I was just playing Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 on my 3DS this morning. Trying to get 100 points in every single level is a b****.

Another Yoshi stage I would like to see is Chocolate Island from Super Mario World. Hot fudge-like lava pits, moving sloped platforms, fire-breathing Dino Rhinos, spinning yellow blocks. This could be the spiritual successor to SMW Yoshi's Island from Melee.

I actually do not consider the nation of America to be very manly myself.

Obama is awesome though. He would approve of Anthony being in Smash for sure.

WHERE IS YOUR PATRIONISM NOW JOHN?

Also, if he would hire Anthony for the mission to find that damn s.o.a.b. Kony it'd be over in an instant! Anthony wouldn't approve of child soldiers. :c (check that **** out though: Kony 2012)

No seriously, Anthony for 4th Metroid rep! Ice attacks, plasma guns, forcing you to remember him, manliness nobody can compare to, potential to having the best taunts the game would ever see (combine Show Yo' Moves with Uh Roh? and you still wouldn't beat the one liners Anthony would bring us)... He's the perfect candidate.

You just got no style. :awesome:

Got that from Anthony.

It was merely a joke! Those soldiers crossing that river on Christmas morning is pretty bad a**. George Washington is a great Santa! His present: DEATH TO HIS ENEMIES! :chuckle:

Actually I am the ruler of America, not Obama; every voting American, or anyone in a democracy, republic, or democratic republic nation is their nations' leader! :awesome:
You just got no style :awesome:
Got that from Anthony.
Yeah so I can't dance 'cuz I got blisters on my feet from running without my running shoes. Go ahead and pick on me. When I can run again, I'll America you! :chuckle:

Also, is anyone else tired of waiting for the Airship (or any stage) from Super Mario Bros. 3=??? The best Mario game deserves the best Mario stage. Peach's Castle 64, Rainbow Cruise, and Delfino Plaza are pretty tough acts to top. Each of those stages are amazing and legally "SUPER AWESOME" stages!

Really, people need to understand WHY they were on disc from a technical standpoint.

EDIT: Why did I bother bringing up justification for anything in this thread again?
Are you that much of an fanboy. There is no technical thing. Most of these character are complete and on the disc. There is no technical reason. The reason is, they want you to pay more for characters they already made.

The reason you shouldn't bring this up is because your emotionally tied to Capcom. Defending this is an death sentence.

I've only watched the Japanese version of that trailer. Pretty funny stuff though, the in-game dialogue may actually overshadow the bad voice acting.
I thought the voice acting was fine. They have very lively voices.

Yeah, me and Arcadenik have pretty much opposite views on how Smash 4's roster should be handled. My hope is that nearly all of Brawl's roster is kept (with Mewtwo and Roy being brought back), while Arcadenik wants pretty much half of Brawl's roster to be axed (even Smash 64 mainstays like Captain Falcon).
No one agrees is Arcadenik on the roster.

I find it rather odd that people put so much "faith" in Toise's predictions when he's just a speculator with a very abrasive personality whether he agrees with you or not. There's nothing special about him in this context. In fact, I see him and SmashChu in similar camps.

So, back to the broken versions of playable characters as bosses. What do you guys want if this were to become a reality? I'd like to see Link have Skyward Strikes on all his Smash attacks and aerials.

I officially love you for posting that song. All smash bro, all the time. ;) That song reminds me of this boss battle theme from Donkey Kong 64, amongst other songs from DK 64.

Also, we need more DK Country and Metroid music in smash. END OF DISCUSSION! :) NEW DISCUSSION: which songs from DK Country/Metroid should be in smash=???

big fat BROFIST.

I love how DK64's music is so Banjo-Kazooieish (same composer, Grant :awesome:) DK64 definitely needs love in Smash, as well as a damn VC release. Don't know why they're holding back because Rare confirmed Nintendo is free to release it. (Only thing I could think of is something with Fungi Forest, as it was supposed to be in Banjo Kazooie).

Also, I've finally played my first Metroid game today. I've had the game Metroid on my 3DS from the Ambassador program, and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. Very entertaining for a NES game.

You know, going around youtube, looking for music for that Yoshi's Island stage made me realize something...quite a few of the Smash series characters have had Pinball related games or mini games. Mario, Pokemon, Metroid, and Kirby specifically. It'd be pretty neat then to have a elaborate (and totally banned) Pinball based stage.

You could essentially have a large stage based off of either of the four series, with platforms to actually stand on, and the main hazard being a pinball being shot around causing the board to change. If the player gets hit by the pinball, the ball explodes and doesn't come back for a bit, but eventually a new ball shows up. There could be a special slot that if the ball goes into, it would change the board to a setting from a different series, which would change the layout of the platforms, and there could be a special slot for it to go into that could cause a boss to hover around up top like most of those pinabll games seem to have. For the bosses...

From Mario 3D Land you could have Petey

From Metroid Prime Pinball you could have the Omega Pirate

From Mass Attack, you could have Heavy Lobster

There's no good picture of him from Brawl Ball...

And for Pokemon Pinball we could have...

....No wait everyone would kill me....uh how about...

...Oh wait, Arcs still here...umm..

Everyone would be okay with that, right?

They'd all pretty much be the same, shooting projectiles down from the top of the screen, but I think it'd be cool. If it the pinball aspect would be too complicated to have actually there in the match, you could have the pinball machine in the background and the ball just run its course, but the layout could still be changed and a boss could still show up in the sky to rain down attacks.

Yeah DK64 music would be great in smash. DK 64 and DKC3 were strangely ignored in smash (aside from the DK Rap), although to be fair, all of the Donkey Kong stages thus far have been jungle stages, aside from the classic Donkey Kong 75M stage. Quite frankly, no song from DKC3 that I can think of fits on a jungle stage, and only a few songs from DK 64 would work on any jungle stage (the island theme, inside DK Isle, the 1st level, both versions of the 5th level, etc).

Personally, I think an island/beach, mine cart, and/or sea/ocean (on boats, perhaps?) stage is the best option for the next 2 or more stages in these forthcoming smash games. DK 64 has a lot of great environmental songs that could work on any environment, and DKC3 has a lot of great sea, boat, ocean, and beach level songs that would work great in smash. That is not just limited to DKC3, but DK Land 3 and the Gameboy Advance version of DKC3 (with slightly altered and sometimes completely different music).

Also, Metroid is a great game. If you get the chance, play it's remake, Metroid: Zero Mission. It is much easier, but really an intense game and retelling of the story, as well as added content. Really, any Metroid game is a good game. But be warned: Metroid, Metroid II, and Metroid Fusion are HARD!!!

Also, Donkey Kong 64 needs to be on the Wii U Virtual Console, and DKC 1-3 (maybe the GBA and Gameboy equivalent "Land) should be on the Virtual Console, too!

It would actually be smart if when King K. Rool and/or Dixie Kong were confirmed in smash Nintendo released those (at the same time or a little bit beforehand).

A mine level would be pure epicness . I wasn't a fan of Brawl's "Bramble Blast" music tbh :(

As for the Metroid series, I have Metroid, and Metroid Fusion from the Ambassador, but I'll look into Zero Mission (is that on the VC?)

Hopefully we get DKC and Land on the 3DS, as well as other Rare titles such as Banjo Kazooie Grunty's Revenge, Banjo Pilot, Mr. Pants

It really would. Some of the best parts of Donkey Kong 64 were the awesome mine levels!
I wasn't a fan of Brawl's "Bramble Blast" music tbh :(
I thought that was the best song/remix on the whole game!
As for the Metroid series, I have Metroid, and Metroid Fusion from the Ambassador, but I'll look into Zero Mission (is that on the VC?)
I don't know, the newest Nintendo handheld I own is a DS Lite! I would think so, and if not, it probably will be.
Hopefully we get DKC and Land on the 3DS, as well as other Rare titles such as Banjo Kazooie Grunty's Revenge, Banjo Pilot, Mr. Pants
I also think we would be able to get Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie on the Wii U's Virtual Console eventually. Maybe even Conker's Bad Fur Day!
Pieman should start giving out Pie Points.
I already give out a "YOU ARE OFFICIALLY SUPER AWESOME" badge (which is the Smash EARTH!). "knight points" aren't a bad idea either. :smirk:

It seems that Sin & Punishment is perhaps the only franchise from the N64. I wish Nintendo still owned Rare. We would have gotten some of the best video game characters from the N64 era in Smash instead of just Saki (or Isa, whichever one is fine with me).

Banjo-Kazooie
Conker
Juno and Vela (Jet Force Gemini, instead of this Krom and Liz idea I see floating around here)
Fulgore (Killer Instinct)
Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark)

We also would have gotten some cool stages without playable characters like a stage based on Snake Rattle 'n' Roll (I loved that NES game) and a stage based on Viva Pinata (it would probably be on Gamecube or Wii if Rare was still with Nintendo).

We would have gotten some interesting Assist Trophies like Sabre Wulf (Sabre Wulf, not Killer Instinct), Kameo (Kameo: Elements of Power), Lupus (Jet Force Gemini), Mumbo Jumbo (Banjo-Kazooie), and Jetpac.

Oh, what could've been. Sometimes, I wish that Nintendo would just buy their properties.

I was also saddened a while back to learn that there had been a Kameo sequel (underrated game BTW) in the works, but MS wanted Rare to work on Kinect Sports. SMH.

I sure hope so! In a recent Rare blog post, they said their past titles will likely remain exclusive to Microsoft, but if there's a ripple in the water we'll let you know. Of course, this isn't confirming anything , but it makes me believe it could be entertained in the future. I'd love to see those three titles , as well as Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Diddy Kong Racing

Ahhh glad to spot another Rare fan :awesome:

Joanna Dark vs Samus?
Dk/Diddy/Fox vs Banjo?
Mario vs Banjo?
Sonic vs Banjo?
Fox vs Conker?
Conker vs Krystal? :troll:
Grunty vs Medusa?

if Ninty had Rare, Banjo would have probably been in Brawl, so we would be speculating a possible 2nd /3rd character. Mumbo/ Grunty. Both magic users, as well as another female villain.

A Viva Pinata stage would be spectacular !! .. as always, I curse you Microsoft!!!

Good point, even though she's MIA. I always wondered how Conker would react to seeing Krystal though
