John: It would be very Luigi. Also a slight hinting at debut playable game SMB Lost Levels which had you finding Poison Mushroom instead of Super Mushroom. (-'u'-)

How about hidden taunts where if you pressed a button and one of the buttons at the same time (Down Taunt and A, for example), you would get a more fanservicey taunt?

Rate your favourite characters from game to game or just in 64, Melee or Brawl! I'll start.

Falcon in Melee: 10/10 (Should be God Tier, bump Fox.)
Falcon in Brawl: 3/10 (THE **** HAPPENED?)
Falco in Melee: 9/10 (The best 0-death character ever, love it.)
Falco in Brawl: 8/10 (Laser tricks out the ***!)
Fox in Brawl: 7/10 (Not as Good as Melee but still pretty fun.)
Mewtwo: 8/10 (He. Needs. To. Teturn.)
Wolf: 8/10 (Fast normals I like.)

Let's leave fan service out of this!

Link: I can't remember if he had his Melee taunt in Brawl (I remember his Smash 64 and fairy one). If he didn't, make it his 4th taunt. If not, think of something else!
Toon Link: His 4th taunt in Young Link's taunt.
Zelda: Have her spin with magic pixie dust falling all around her.
Sheik: Have her show her d***! :chuckle:
Ganondorf: His 4th taunt is a dark aura explosion behind him.
Samus: Samus' 4th taunt is her standing, taking off her helmet, and clicking a button to see what her objective is.
Zero Suit Samus: Her 4th taunt is she practices a bunch of ninja moves.
Yoshi: Yoshi's forth taunt is a choreographed Yoshi happy dance.
Kirby: His 4th taunt is that Kirby gets on his Warp Star, does a quick front flip while, smiles, and hops right off.
King Dedede: The King's 4th taunt is he starts doing a dance with some Waddle Dees in the background mimicking him (some of them fail at the dance to make it cute).
Meta Knight:His 4th taunt is some fancy sword trick.
Captain Falcon: His 4th taunt is his Melee "YEAAAHHHHHHHHHAAAHHHHH!!!" victory pose.
Ness: His 4th taunt is this... >>> :ness: after the photographer man comes out of nowhere and tells Ness "say "Fuzzy Pickles.""
Snake: He needs a taunt other than that dang BOX!!!
Sonic: His 4th taunt is he quickly turns into Classic Sonic and the original "Sonic the Hedgehog" logo goes around him while the original title theme plays.

Lol, I didn't mean THAT kind of fan service, John

I meant like stuff from the games that only hardcore/dedicated fans of that series would recognize

Like, for example, Sonic doing his wink/thumbs up from the Sonic Sez intro as a taunt

Okay, that makes sense. Basically the type of taunts I was putting down! :chuckle:

Also, I would love for Olimar to have a victory celebration where him and several Pikmin start doing a funny dance together... until Olimar trips and his Pikmin help him up!

@ Falchion
Captain Falcon's awful recovery is why he isn't a Melee top tier character. That and he doesn't have as many as high priority moves like the characters above him on the tiers.

I loved playing as Mario in 64, he was my favorite character in that game other than Fox and DK (especially the latter, I love maining heavyweights)

I honestly had no problems with Mewtwo in Melee other than his weight and Side/Down specials

And as for Brawl, I was a little disappointed with Sonic in Brawl, but he's still fun to play as

Fun fact, I never heard of Mario or any Nintendo character except Pikachu until I played Smash 64 at the age of 5. hahaha

I never heard of Samus, Ness, Captain Falcon, & Link before 64.
I never heard of Dr. Mario, Marth, Ice Climbers, Pit (Melee trophy to be exact), & Mr. Game & Watch before Melee.
I knew everyone before Brawl.

It's official - if Medusa gets in, there's no damn chance Ridley won't.
I never thought that Ridley would end up looking small in some way. lol

No reason he shouldn't get in now.
Ridley can always be resized to be around Samus's height. In terms of Palutena and/or Medusa, slightly shorter than Ganondorf?

I think you meant this song from Donkey Kong Country 2, but mostly this song from Metroid Prime 3 (on an infinite loop).

Also this song (part one is here and part two is here) would be great in smash, too. Man, smash needs more songs from Link's Awakening in general!
You, my good friend, have taste.
I have probably asked this question before, but is there anyone else that is going to stop with the Smash Bros. series at Smash 4. I am most likely not going to follow or buy Smash 5. Smash 4 will pretty much be the last time I do speculation for a Smash Bros. game. I have been a very big fan of the series since the very beginning (late 1998/early 1999), so I think its time to call it quits. However, in general, I don't have the same level of interest in video games that I used to have. The Wii U (or whatever Nintendo's next console will be called), will most likely be the last game console I buy. After that, I will simply replay all of the games I already bought over the years (I am already doing that now). Unlike Brawl and Melee, I was already speculating on Smash 4 a few months after Brawl's release so that may be contributing to my fatigue going into Smash 4.
Of course. I follow the games because they are just so much fun. Been enjoying it since 1999. The only problem I could have is I know a lot of the characters in Brawl better than I knew the Melee cast in 2004. I think the way I'll get board is by playing it too much. For now, I will follow the next game and probably get suckered back in when the next one rolls around.

Having fun is the most important part.

Well I can totally see THAT happening.

I mean, Bison had "For Me It Was Tuesday" as a taunt on SFxT.

Mario in Smash 64 is just simply a fun character to play as. I also gotta throw in Captain Falcon as being fun in both Smash 64 and Melee, Ganondorf is great to play as in Melee, and Fox for being so technically tight to play as in Melee. But my favorite character to play as in Smash is Toon Link in Brawl. If he was in Melee and played with the same style, I would stop playing most of the games I currently play!
I honestly had no problems with Mewtwo in Melee other than his weight and Side/Down specials
It's called losing, which I am not a fan of. If Mewtwo felt more "powerful" and had more range, he would be impressive.
Fun fact, I never heard of Mario or any Nintendo character except Pikachu until I played Smash 64 at the age of 5. hahaha
I only knew Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Samus, Yoshi, Fox Pikachu, and Jigglypuff well, while I remembered Captain Falcon from F-Zero. I did not, however, know what Captain Falcon looked like. I also remembered Link a bit (as a child) from Ocarina of Time. I had no clue as to who the heck Ness was!

LOL Capcom. That's a funny joke. Capcom nowadays is slowly becoming what SEGA became around 2004-ish. A bunch of rehashed games, albeit at a much more expensive price. Quite frankly, I would rather pay $53 for a mediocre and forgettable game with a dreadful story than a good game that costs $65 plus $40 in DLC. And dang it, that California sales tax does NOT HELP!!! :chuckle: :urg:

Regarding Mewtwo, it will need to be revamped greatly if it's going to make a comeback. Maybe change some of its specials; for some examples...

side - Psywave: Mewtwo fires a psychic energy wave, which can send opponents flying sideways at low angles. The power of this attack is random, dealing as little as 3% damage, or as much as 26% damage. The more damage the move causes, the stronger the knockback.

down - Safeguard: Mewtwo creates a shield, which repels almost any indirect attack that hits it. The indirect attacks would end up being reflected right back at the attackers. It has no effect against direct attacks and Final Smashes.

Final Smash - Psystrike: Mewtwo will create a powerful psychic energy wave, which strikes opponents with physical force. Opponents caught by this attack will be sent flying very easily, and the move can also lead to easy KOs on smaller stages.

Other changes should include its weight; maybe make it rival Wario's weight.

I'm still waiting for Ultimate Street Fighter X Tekken after $10 or so worth of DLC after paying full price for the game!

I don't understand why they don't patch MvC3 either. They really should. That way, people can play both it and Ultimate MvC3 as different competitive games. Of course, that is assuming people still play the original MvC3! :rotfl:

Also "Big Monsters KILL PIT! GRRRHHH!!!" Friggen hilarious! :chuckle: I like Pit's new voice, and it isn't drop dead terrible like his Brawl voice (actor).

I called Link Zelda at first when I played the game with my cousin. She told me he was Link. Only knew of Mario, Luigi, DK, the Pokemon and I guess I knew who Link and Kirby where at the age of 9 or 10 when I first played Smash.

I'll only speculate if the next one sucks. That's the reason why I did Sm4sh speculation from nearly the beginning. I was not satisfied with Brawl.

That being said, I don't plan on stop playing videogames any time soon.
Really, people need to understand WHY they were on disc from a technical standpoint.

EDIT: Why did I bother bringing up justification for anything in this thread again?

Anyway, I'm drawing myself in Elesa's clothes now. XDD
Weird...

I feel like I should make a Palutena avatar for myself. BD
It's funny, but I think I already found a pic that would be perfect for you. lol

BTW, this is why we need Palutena

Oh, and Capcom does suck. They have been terrible with this piss poor DLC stuff.
I've only watched the Japanese version of that trailer. Pretty funny stuff though, the in-game dialogue may actually overshadow the bad voice acting.

And yes, Capcom and how they handle updates and DLC is very annoying. No argument there.

I knew Mario (Dr.Mario, SMB3 and 2 and of course, SM64), Link (Link's Awakening and OOT), Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Donkey Kong (Watched DKC-cartoon. Banana Slamma!) and Captain Falcon (rented F-Zero X from my friend) from fighters of 64. I got introduced to Kirby in that game, BTW. Totally loved when he copied the characters, because I loved to get a try variety of moves using him from others.

Melee again, I didn't know Marth, Roy, Ness, Mr.Game Watch and Ice Climbers. And Brawl-ones introduced me to Ike and Lucario.

I was introduced to Zelda, Metroid-man, that gay pink balloon (that was not Jigglypuff), Star Fox, King Kong, Ness, that gay dinosaur and Captain Falcon. (All in the names me and my friends used to know them as).

I didn't like Nintendo back then. I was a PlayStation kid.

ChronoBound, this really depends on whether I am satisfied with Smash 4's final roster, the overall selection of new stages and new items, the modes and the gameplay, but mostly it is about the final roster. I am tired of arguing with people online, defending my opinions about who should be added, and always ending up disappointed when certain characters I have been requesting for well over 10 years aren't made playable. By the time Smash 4 comes out I will be over 30, I just don't have the same enthusiasm for video games these days like I used to have when Melee first came out. I mean, most of my 3DS library are Virtual Console games (nostalgia). Smash 4 is pretty much the only video game I am geninuely interested in and this is mainly due to nostalgia and Nintendo's history. That's why I support Duck Hunt Dog, Little Mac, King Hippo, Palutena, Medusa, Ridley, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong (team), King K. Rool, Toad, Meowth (or Team Rocket), Mewtwo, Impa and Tingle. I grew up with these characters throughout my K-12 years. I was already familiar with Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Duck Hunt, Punch-Out!!, R.O.B., Kirby, and Pokemon long before I played Super Smash Bros. and long before I first discovered the Internet. That's why I'm always pushing for these characters to be playable characters in Smash 4.

I remember when I first found out that there was a new Smash game after 64... I felt like the Nintendo 64 kid, lol

Going on the Melee site and finding out all the characters that were in Melee with my AOL dial-up connection and Windows 98 OS like a boss

I remember when my friend told me there were hidden characters in Smash. When he mentioned Ness, I immediately thought of Nessie the Loch Ness Monster, which he must have somehow known since he said it was not Nessie. He then said Ness was a baseball player, which made me think of this:

It goes without saying I was surprised when I finally found out who he was.

Looks like there are two people who frequent this thread that are older than me (HyperFalcon being the other one).

I feel the same way in regards to video games, there are very few games coming out that I feel any interest for. Smash 4 may not be coming out in close to another three years, but I am definitely anticipating it more than games than are coming out this year.

I am also similar in regards to you characters that I am anticipating. Most of the characters I want for Smash Bros. I was already a big fan of prior to Smash 64, which are Ridley, Mega Man, Mewtwo, and Dixie Kong. Between Smash 64 and Melee, I became a fan of K. Rool and Toad. After the release of Melee, I became a fan of Roy and Little Mac. The most recent character I became interested in of these was Little Mac, which happened in 2003/2004. Other than Ridley, Mega Man, Mewtwo, Roy, K. Rool, Dixie Kong, Little Mac, and Toad, there are no other characters I have interest in seeing playable that are not already playable in Brawl. Fortunately, most of these characters are close to being shoe-ins for Smash 4. I am hoping that Uprising endears me to Palutena and Medusa considering that there have been no new characters since Brawl's release that I personally want to see playable.

Brawl was released four years ago today. I still remember being disappointed from the exclusion of Ridley, Mewtwo, and Roy. However, I also remember how excited I was to finally be playing as so many characters I wanted prior to even Melee releasing and I was in general a fan of. Brawl added most of the characters I desired for Smash Bros. When I was finally playing Brawl, it felt to me as much an advancement to me to Melee as when I played Melee for the first time and reflected upon Smash 64.

I don't like it that the wait for Smash 4 will likely be a little under three years (especially considering its now been four years since Brawl's release), however, since this is my last "mission" in regards to Smash Bros. I think a long war is fitting. Even if Smash 4 does not add any of the characters that I am personally interested in, I still won't stick around for Smash 5. I simply don't have patience and will to do this after Smash 4. Its time to move on, its time to grow up. I will still probably pick up new games for the Wii U and 3DS after Smash 4 is released, however, after games are no longer being made for those two consoles, I probably won't buy any more games.

Its nice to see that someone else has similar feelings as my own going into Smash 4.

But it's funny that with those similar feelings, you both disagree on like everything.
Yeah, me and Arcadenik have pretty much opposite views on how Smash 4's roster should be handled. My hope is that nearly all of Brawl's roster is kept (with Mewtwo and Roy being brought back), while Arcadenik wants pretty much half of Brawl's roster to be axed (even Smash 64 mainstays like Captain Falcon).

Him wanting a crapton of cuts and wanting Meowth to have three versions of Pay Day are two reasons why I can't take Arcadenik seriously.

I called Link Zelda at first when I played the game with my cousin.
Yeah I first played it at my cousin's house too, and I remember calling Link Zelda as well! I also didn't know what a "Kirby" was. I actually knew who Kirby was, but I was so used to seeing him on the Game Boy in black and white that I didn't recognize him in color!

Also, regardless of how "satisfying" the roster is, I am coming back for the next smash bros game, period. That way I can be the pre-Brawl, pre-Smash Wii U, and pre-Smash 3DS ultra veteran that you all must bow beforeth like you all do to the pre-Melee smash speculating folks! Plus I'll be real old then; maybe even in my 30's!  :awesome: :chuckle: :bee: :reverse: :smirk:

However if Captain Falcon's butt is kicked out of the roster, I am gone. Goodbye. Augusta la vista baby. There could be no future smash games for all I'd care! :glare:
I'd just play 64/Melee.

And as for Melee, the only characters I didn't know were the Ice Climbers (I had played Ice Climber before, but it is so forgettable I forgot), Mr. Game and Watch, and of course Marth and Roy. Everyone else I knew like the back of my hand. :)

But yeah, I remember waiting in line at GameStop for Brawl down the street from my house 4 hours in advance! The first character I played was Fox, and I hated playing as him. My opinions on him in Brawl never changed. I then went to Mario, and I somewhat enjoyed him even though I knew he sucked. Once I unlocked Ness though, I never went back to either Fox or Mario! :rotfl: And of course once I touched the character at whom's alter I worshiped, Toon Link, nobody else mattered! :joyful:
