Hey there SoCal Smashers! Blue Screen Gaming is a relatively new gaming center that just opened up last month in Culver City and is looking to the Smash scene to fill their calendar. While the venue currently holds tournaments for Wii U on Tuesdays, there is great interest from the owner to host Melee, Project M, and other 2D fighters (seriously, there's not much on the calendar yet.) on a weekly basis. There are events running almost any given day in SoCal for Melee, so the owner is open to almost any day and time to run tournament for that game. The only downside to hosting Melee/PM is a current lack of setups.
Give or take the varying sizes of CRTs the space can fit about 10 Melee/PM setups, 16 Wii U setups, and around 50 people with snacks and drinks inside and a bevy of restaurants across the street including Starbucks, Chipotle, Blaze Pizza, Joxer Daly's Irish Pub and Yamadaya Ramen Shop.
16-high end PCs and a streaming station can be moved around to make space for CRTs and you will be able to drop your set ups off before finding some fairly accessable parking nearby.
If you're interested in starting up Melee or PM tournaments in the West LA area (a dead zone for organized competition) or bolstering the numbers for Wii U then please reply to me (USSR) here, or to contact the venue owner directly, call Blue Screen Gaming at (424)258-0765 or email David Inman at bluescreengamin@gmail.com
