I totally disagree with Boxob, Brawl's not as techskill-req'd as Melee, but you still need a lot of tech skill, although it's largely character dependent. But Boxob should know, since he plays with Yoshi, ICs, and Sonic.... sigh :urg:
:
Lol, I stopped with IC's, they're too slow. They're flashy as hell but, just too slow.

Yoshi isn't hard to play, neither's Sonic. IC's just takes a while for the chaingrabs. ****** with their easymode Dsmash is pizzacake.

I think the most technical char I use is Link. Jab cancel ****, it's still super easy **** though.

Learning to play Sonic, was like the most demoralizing 2 months ever...... soooo many SDs, and I always felt really powerless and defenseless.

Now I can't stand not being Sonic. I get frustrated when I can't punish everything. Even on autopilot, when I feel like I'm just playing the game without much thought or effort, and not doing very well.... my irl opponents tell me they're on edge the whole time, feeling like the Sonic's in control, they're afraid to move lol, and unsure where I'll suddenly be next.

Sonic's maneuverability = top tier, too fun to give up nao.

I don't have time for a real analysis, but for now, I'll say two things.

Don't jump into the ****.

Keep trying, you don't seem comfortable using Sonic's speed for spacing or anything like that.

School time.

I do kinda better in the next match.

Which is here:

What I do wanna say is that I think people who can make something out of Sonic are amazing. To me, there's nothing about Sonic that really says "Hey I can do this, you should do this to win with me". I think I really am going to start learning Sonic's AT's and what not because even though Sonic sucks, he should still be explored. He's just such an odd character that people are initially turned away from him if people are looking at playing lower tiered characters.

Falcon may be a worse character than Sonic, but at least I kinda naturally know what to do with Falcon. These are just johns though. I guess I'll start watching Sonic videos and learning his AT's o_O

EDIT: All this meaning that I'm kinda just flailing around with Sonic in those vids, without any real idea on how to play him.

Sonic's defensive with his speed and aggressive with his shield. ^_^

Because there isn't anything. He is good at core Smash gameplay. He doesn't HAVE anything like the Nado or Nades to spam and win. The best thing about him IMO is Short Hop drifted back ASC. It's like doing a Marth counter but more damaging, leads to a set up and is cancelable if you're in trouble. The best thing to do IMO is to pressure them. A LOT. If you can they'll want to take advantage of small openings and you can use the SHASC.

First video needs moar Boxobairs.

But seriously, just get a bit more comfortable with Sonic as previously stated, it seems like you made a couple of miSteaks that I knew that if you were playing Didd,y you would'nt have made.

There's that, and then the first video had a nice display of abusing the USmash invincibility frames when T.Link was about to Dair you.

Also use a little more spin attacks, I did not see enough ASC let alone grounded Spincharges, it ***** too hard not to use.

Edit: So I'm watching the second video, and at about :4o where Martha was charging the S-Breaker, why not charge up a spin attack? Sonic is the king of punish, when Martha is that vulnerable, you need to make something of it.

Also are you aware that you can decrease the start-up time of HA by just pressing the B-button? If you do, okay, if you don't have ya learned probably the simplest AT in the game.

LOL I was hoping when I saw the thread that it was something I didn't know. WRONG.

If you like to try Dair Spikes then doing this will give u a chance to quickly gain vertical ala spinshot, and if u are decent with spacing you can get it off. Doing so like this not only allows this chain of events to go faster, but gives you enough leeway and an extra jump to live. Plus you still have the Spring.
