Networking Site Special Treatment?

I was at Titan Gaming in Georgetown, TX recently, and the guy who runs the place told me that networking sites get special treatment when it comes to game releases. He told me that they get games a couple of weeks in advance. When it came to Brawl, he said, he expected it in the range of the 15th to 18th of January.

I was just wondering why I hadn't seen stuff like this on Smashboards. Was he selling me some Grade A BS?

EDIT: I'm not talking about a "website", sorry. I'm talking about a place where there are a bunch of computers hooked up for people to play games.

I didn't mean 'site' as in website, sorry. I didn't know how to refer to the place.

>.<

You know, it's one of those places with computers linked up and such.

What you're talking about is a plain old network. Yeah, I suppose a gaming location would update their network to allow more bandwidth. Of course, this has little to nothing to do with Brawl. Brawl doesn't support LAN play (as far as we know) and I would think Halo 3 would have a bigger impact on gaming (tangible) sites than Brawl will.

Ugh.

I know what I'm talking about, thank you, and it has everything to do with Brawl.

Sure, there's a LAN, but they also have TVs with systems set up, and the guy who runs Titan Gaming said Brawl was mostly likely going to be a big deal there. And he said BRAWL would be getting in Jan 15-18.

How does that have nothing to do with Brawl?

I'm just asking if anyone can confirm or deconfirm that gaming locales get games before their releases as the guy said. I assume he knew at least a bit about what he was talking about he was talking about. Certainly, to make such a claim he's gotten other games in early.
